The little guys got skill. Those are actually hard to fly. I have the perfect plane for this youngster. The HobbyZone SuperCub, new in box. I will sell now for only $150 Free shipping. He would love it!! Great job. BTW- I live 10 miles from the Estes factory and my grandma used to be the manager back about 20 years ago. Just had to throw that in there.
@avalanchewholesaleco : LOL, thanks for the offer, but he's now flying parkzone Corsair, Lanxiang 70mm EDF jet, f-18 jets, BeechCraft Bonanza, Extra 260's, Sukhoi's. He's gone totally crazy within the past few months. But thanks again, and the suggested plane is a great suggestion for anyone looking to get started in the RC Plane Flying!
I'm new to this myself. My 4 year old son rec'd this for a b-day present. I couldn't get it to lift after a dozen tries. Any suggestions for the newbie that can't afford to invest much? As noted above, has anyone tried removing tanks? Thank you.
Ours wouldnt fly until I lightly taped the antenna down, but I ran the antenna all along the bottom. On the first throw, it has to be a pretty good straight and hard throw. As you can see from this Vid, we didnt do anything else to it and it flew ok. nothing great, but it did fly after taping down antenna. Havent tried removing anything from it though. I would imagine it would fly fine without the tanks on the wingtips. less weight.
That's the problem with all Estes planes....underpowered...they need lots of help and mods to fly...I wouldn't buy another Estes and would never recommend an Estes to anyone.
Actually it is a good flying jet. Only thing is the controls suck, i have the estes l-39. Once you put in a lipo, change the reciever and put in an esc. Turst me it will be worth the 25 bucks and little bit more invested to improve it. Have mine now for a few years and she can reach close to 1000ft in altitude. So don't throw it away they are hard to find.
You can't beat that for 20-dollars! Hope it is a better RC system than the prvious ESTES jets I've flown, which were "ok" at best not real great, and I fly regular RC planes and helicopters.
I got this plane from Walmart also for Christmas. Any tips on flying it? I have full thrust, run while holding it, throw really hard with slight nose up attitude and it does a straight nose dive. So, any tips on getting it in the air? Also, do you think I will be fine flying it in a field behind my haouse that's less than an acre big (also rectangular)?
This is what we found to work with this plane. 1st. Make sure to lightly tape the whole antenna to the bottom of the plane. Running the Antenna along the length of the plane on the bottom. 2nd. Dont run. Apply full throttle for 1 second and while always keeping full throttle, throw as straight as you can, no up attitude, it kills the airspeed right away. dont try turning until she is going straight and starting to climb. You dont need a big area to fly, your field sounds fine. GOOD LUCK-video it!
Thanks, I'm charging the plane now and I will try that. I might video it if I can get the plane in the air. My tripod for my camcorder doesn't tilt upward and my sister will not want to come out to film it. I have an idea, which I might try, but don't count on it. I will try to film it though. I will tell you how it goes.
Thanks again for the advice. I got it to work by ripping the whole tip of the nose of. There was too much weight in the front. I was airborne, but the mix of low battery and sudden hail caused me to crash. Works really good now!
removing tanks is interesting. I might have to try that for him. I might also have to look into removing the nose peice, although that nose peice reduces alot of potential damage on sudden stops. Thanks for sharing all the ideas and comments. This $25 plane looks like fun, I might have to sneak it out for a flight of my own.
... I wish MY jet would fly that slow...

this plane sucks i had the same one

It just needs more power. Once I put a better 2cell lipo in it, she flew much better. But for $20, I guess we cant expect much.
Thanks for watching and commenting!

take the fuel tanks off end of wings less drag and weight it will fly better
