I once did that to a guy fishing off Cape Lookout. My running lights were on the top of my mast which was 50 feet high. We kind of snuck up on him at night. All of a sudden the poor guy turned around and all he could see were running lights 50 feet high headed right toward him only about 100 yards away. They were tripping all over themselves trying to get their anchor up and engine started. They failed to see any humor in what we had done to them.

Well, those aircraft can't reach Mach speed, however soundwaves are weaker away from the primary point of amplification (In the case of an aircraft, the nose is the quietest part, hence why First Class is put in commercial jets there), so it would have only been a faint buzzing sound until it got close enough.

No, it's about pilots flying Air tankers in support of forest fire fighters. But the movie is about the love relationship between one of the Pilots (Richard Dryfuss) and his girlfriend (Holly Hunter) and he gets killed in a plane crash. The movie is about their love relationship and how he can't let go after he is killed and how she can't move on. He comes back and and helps her move on even though it hurts him. Speilberg Dir. the movie but it came out the same time as Ghost and Ghost won.

True, you most likely would, though legally aircraft have right of way, even on water, over other vessels due to the required maneuvering range. So if the worst did happen, even if it were just a pleasure flight by the crew of the airplane, the boater would be the one in legal and financial trouble.
