  • in lab we had a slide like this that was labeled heart muscle. We noted branching muscle cells and intercalated disks, the white lines that break up the fibers. It must have been mislabeled?

  • even experienced pathologists often confuse muscle of all types, especially smooth muscle, with fibrous tissue, especially if striations are not easily seen, that's why we have a trichrome stain
