in lab we had a slide like this that was labeled heart muscle. We noted branching muscle cells and intercalated disks, the white lines that break up the fibers. It must have been mislabeled?
even experienced pathologists often confuse muscle of all types, especially smooth muscle, with fibrous tissue, especially if striations are not easily seen, that's why we have a trichrome stain

Collagen can also have a banding pattern, similar to that seen in muscle, due to the stepped assembly of tropocollagen molecules.
