Mostly squeaky toys, balls, stuffed animals, that sort of thing. Dogs are very hard on toys, so they have to be replaced once in a while. ;)

My dogs were very polite. They occasionally sniffed other gifts, but never, ever opened any that weren't wrapped in white tissue. Dogs are smart. I don't know how they know, but they often know what is meant for them and what isn't. :)

wow u have 3 dogs must be alot of work but that so cute my dog always runs around the chrismas tree and barks at it he thinks like its alive but he did this b4 and it was so cute but it wasent his he got the wrong one he opend mine. i was so mad because he kinda rewend it but it was so cute.

Utter joy! This is the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! Sorry to hear they have passed, I miss my dog, too - but the memories are all wonderful.

Haha! They never bothered the presents wrapped in colored paper, only white tissue paper - and Santa left those on Christmas morning. ;)

Once the tree went up, they would check under it every day for white gifts. I hung bells on the bottom branches so I would know if they were into stuff while I was home. Occasionally I'd hear a jingle, and would see them snooping under the tree just like kids, but they just never did get into anything that wasn't wrapped in white tissue.

When the dark brown dog was about a year old, I gave her a collapsible agility tunnel for xmas that was wrapped in a box. She watched the rest of us unwrap our xmas pressies, and when it came her turn, she knew just what to do with very little encouragement. She was so thrilled there was a giant toy inside the box, she wore herself out with excitement that day. Needless to say, she was into the whole gift/unwrapping thing from that day forward.

my dog had 19 pups 3 died one got killed by another one of our dogs and 2 other one sufficated it was really sad but not sadder when one of are puppy got nicked

Thanks for commenting! Scout was so smart it was scary. She loved riding in the car. Whenever she was in the car, she would watch everything I did - as I started up, put it in gear, backed out, shifted, etc. It looked like she was studying me. I swear I thought I'd wake up one day and she and the car would be gone! ;D

I'm not exactly sure how they knew. They never tried to unwrap anything that wasn't in white tissue paper. After all their pressies were unwrapped, occasionally the dark red dog would still want to unwrap something and would sneak tiny nibbles at our gifts as we would unwrap them, but you could tell she knew they weren't hers - probably because they weren't in tissue paper.

As for sorting out which toys were for each dog, they all liked different things. The golden loved rubber squeaky balls, the blue dog loved plush "babies" and the red dog loved interactive toys that she could roll, shake, tug. The dark red dog checked under the tree every day so she usually noticed the white gifts first. She'd immediately start biting or opening them and if she found one that didn't particularly interest her, she'd leave it for the other two to "discover" and finish unwrapping.

how did they die?

The dark red dog got bladder cancer a few years ago. The blue dog got a fast-growing tumor on her heart and died a few months ago. The golden retriever could hardly walk and was blind/deaf for quite a while. After the blue dog died, his health and personality deteriorated rapidly and we let him go last month.
