If you had to say which NBA guy is the best of all time if you take into consideration only those lacking a single shred of athleticism, you have Mullin and Bird. I think I would give it to Mullin, Bird was a bit taller...
@kidballistic Athleticism does not equal bicep size and jumping ability. Mullin could run for days, Bird was suprisingly strong and couldn't be pushed around, and was always in great shape. Just like Dirk today. Also, you don't need to jump like an idiot for a rebound if you know your fundamentals. If you disagree, watch how Amare Stoudamire jumps around like a fool while Kevin Love picks up 30+ rebounds right next to him.
Damned shame we don't see ball like this anymore. The chemistry between these guys mader them even better individually. Too bad the younger generation doesn't recognize that.
Now if you want to say Chris Mullin is one of the greatest players in WARRIORS franchise history? Then yes, I would agree with that 100%. Maybe not the greatest in the franchise, but definitely top 5!
@mattman2900 the greatest can only be said about Ali. GSW has had some of the best of all time let alone a top 5 GSW. My top 5 no certain order is , Nate the great. Wilt the stilt, Barry the greyhound, Mully, Phil Smith .
Benard King even if he only played 2 yrs and Jeff Mullins are alternates . What are yours?
Just a cool FYI or Did You Know: Chris Mullin, while naturally left handed could shoot with either hand, thus making it extremely difficult to guard or block his shots.
Chris Mullin was one of the most underated guards and players of all time i wouldnt compare him to Larry Bird even though he was proboly a better shooter. But bird was the whole package shooting rebounding passing and his defense and he won three championships.
Chris Mullin was one of the best if not the best left-handed shooters in the game during his career. He wasn't always the best player on the team, but what made him stand out was he was always a clutch shooter.
Run TMC they were unstoppable. Then they got rid of Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens. How do you break up one of the highest scoring Trio's in their prime? That was the fall of the Warriors.
1. Bird was always the feature scorer on his teams until retirement; the last 8 years of Mullin's career, he was not. Until that point he averaged 22-23ppg, close to Bird's 24ppg.
2. Bird played with 2 Hall of Fame teammates (McHale, Parish); Mullin had Hardaway and Mitch Richmond, All-Stars, but not HOF'ers.
3. Bird's teams overall were much better than Mullin's, packed full of All-Stars (Walton, Ainge, Johnson) in addition to the Big 3.
without larry bird those celtics teams do not win one title he avg 24 points 10 rebonuds 6 ast for his carreer and he did not turn the ball over like mullin (note chris mullin is the warriors all time leader in turnovers) with that chirs mullin is great player and belongs in hall of fame but larry bird u could say he was one of top five greatest players of all time
it's not all about scoring, and if you think it's all about scoring you know shit about basketball, bird was the smartest basketball player ever, did everything to win, also he was the best shooter and one of the best scorer of all time,10 times better then mullin
Mullin is overlooked because he wasn't the "name" player or superstar on his team. No it's not all about scoring, and myself being a huge fan of Mullin more so his off-court "redemption" he was a great player.
However comparing Chris Mullin to Larry Bird is like comparing Michael Jordan to Tyler Hansboro.
Bird in stats and star quality is far superior to Chris Mullin. Mully should and will one day be in the HoF, and at the very least have Golden State retire his number.
st johns best playa by far..mullin had bird-like game...one of the smartest playas in the 90z...and for hardaway he had the fastest hands eva...x you up for real Top 10 x-over kings: 1. iverson...hands down no explanation needed 2. tim hardaway (watch the video if you dont believe me) 3. isiah thomas 4. crawford 5. wade 6. cp3 (more to come...) 7. nash 8. kobe 9. deron williams 10. b.diddy

@kidballistic : Its not even close. Bird is one of the 10 best players of all-time, and he was a far better defender and ballhandler than Mullin.

Allow me to state my case:

There is no disputing Bird is more accomplished, individually, and as the leader of a multi-championship team.
How about this: Chris Mullin was just as talented as Larry Bird.
