@TheVictor6951 It was all custom wiring. Wolf 3DV4 ECU. Stock 1uz engine mounts. Transmission was a W58 Supra 5spd manual box with a 1uz bellhousing adapter, with Toyota Dyna clutch...
@xxnissansilviaxx Well, a stocko 1UZ gets 10L per 100klms (Dunno miles to gallon) on a stock ecu with stock exhaust. ANd this has a manual behind it. I've since sold the car but the current owner has it tuned, so technically it should get like 6-700 klms per tank (cressida)
hmm, why does this suburb look familiar? maybe its a coincidence i seen a neglected AE86 with custom plates (dam you,) and leaves collecting on it on that steep driveway next door... this looks like Leven st & your name is Project86... Correct me if im wrong, but im a Toyota Nut and i memorised that location in a hope to offer to buy the AE86.
@beanos351 yeah you're wrong ;p . It was @ Kingston. I would love to have an AE86 but alas, no dice. Many many Toyotas go in and out of that house though :) Lots of Celsiors, an IS250, Subaru Liberty Turbo, R31 skyline, the list goes on.
@pr0j3ct86 that's sweet man! I would be so hyped to have one in mine, Is it as simple a buying a 1uz and just putting it in there? or not at all? Haha, this inspires me!
@brutalanto not at all haha. Lots of custom work. The biggest things is running a manual, need aftermarket ECU to run the box, and then a custom map for the engine
@brutalanto It's a common conversion in the MX83s. It fit in pretty well in the MX73 though, and we had it out a few times and didn't have too much drama with space to move it, fits in nicely :) About the same size as a 350 chev
It was all done by the owners over the years, I didn't do the original conversion, but I may as well have, just about replaced everything in the car and had the motor/box out a few times. Stock Cressida axles. That's toyota for ya :)
I give you soo much credit for the patience to finish the whole conversion correctly. I got a 3rd Gen though 85 in my driveway. . Speechless Classic ! 2 questions was this a self project or did you take to the shop ? and what axels hold that beast!
Im serious about doing the same swap in my X73. Just not sure how to go about it.
What's the hardest part about the swap? Any custom modifications or fabrication? My buddy and I will be doing the swap ourselves so any help and words of wisdom will be appreciated. Thanks!!!
Nice ride mate. A lot of work has gone into it by the looks of things, looks like a real neat conversion, and love the interior of the MX73 plush velour so 80's but oh so cool.
Hi Kazu: Custom bell housing. There are 2 groups that make them: dellows auto or castlemaine rod shop. Need a custom flywheel and throwout bearing centre i think.
your car sounds identical to mine when it starts and runs.. i got 2.5" off the factory headers, then into a stainless cat, 3" to an off centre rear muffler!! Sounds tough as! :P
Hey mate, well it's a crown motor so it has the crown headers on it but the exhaust is oversized, i think it's like 3 inch all the way through basically. Cats may possibly be hollow too lol, not sure
cheers dude. Just got motor back in again after leaking head gasket again, all good now, it hammers, faster than it was before, mostly because of the temp sender in it, instead of the oil switch that was previously in there from the last owner... N/A power, exhaust and cams. Which cams are expensive. the only other thing is ITB's but once again expensive. For a few grand just bolt on a supercharger or a turbo kit, you don't have to touch internals at all :)
I'm looking to do a 1uz into a mx83 cress. have an idea of what needs to be done but I'm trying to find out whats possible for n/a tuning the 1uz. any suggestions on getting good n/a power from it?
Hey mate, well the engine/gearbox/clutch rebuild just cost me about 3 grand, and the truetrac LSD cost me about 1200 all up, for the centre and to fit it into the existing housing. The original engine conversion I didn't do... I swapped it for my subaru, but the dude had about 12 on it, but a lot more has been spent. Wolf etc.
I'm looking to do the same engine swap. Any info/advice as to motor mounts, tranny etc. Did you use the 1uz harness and computer?
