I went to an anti-war protest in 2003. There were scores of thousands of people there and no coverage at all. Of course, we were civil and level headed...maybe that makes a difference. I don't know but I don't think it's not fair that people who protest fixing the health care system should be reported on, when in similar numbers, people who protested a war based on lies, wasn't.

I particpated in an anti war protest in Sept 2003 and yes I do recall that the press was there as well.

People are not protesting against fixing healthcare; they are protesting the fact that reform may bankrupt this country and people may even loose even more benefits.

It is absolutely ridiculous to me that the same people who agreed with enthusiasm that we should go to war based on lies, which is the reason we are incredibly in debt, refuse to make a reasonable investment in our own country's well being and financial stability by reducing costs over the long run. Not fixing our health care system will RUIN us and anyone who disagrees with fixing it is a part of the problem, and just as destructive as a terrorist.

You are correct that healthcare reform needs to be addressed. However when you have nearly 10% (possibly even more) our of work, how is the Fed going to fund healthcare right now? Don't forget reform, calls for every single American to obtain health coverage. Medicare, Medicaid, and SS are well in the red.

Cost saving measures absolutely must be a major issue addressed in health care reform, but doing that without extending available coverage would be blasphemous. Blaming healthcare on financial crisis is over simplifying. Financial crisis comprises China's role in our economy, lopsided trade, subprime loan mess, and loose regulations in the financial industry. I would prefer having the economy fix and getting people back to work and on their feet first.. Would you rather rush into a plan/system without tackling how to pay for it long term? Can't always depend on taxing the wealthy and most likely every income bracket will be taxed heavily.

I'm not going to make the claim that people are 'back to work' but Congress did already pass the recovery act, didn't they? So that's that part for now. This is the next step since the health care industry comprises 20% of our economy. We pay more than any other wealthy country on health care and are no healthier for it. Don't forget that people who don't have health care now, would have to purchase it and much of the cost will be covered by savings from the current waste.

No one is arguing that the health care system in the US is totally expensive and not upt to par. But again I stress that fixing the economy has to take precedence. What good is starting up health care without completely supporting it financially.

If you want to get down to the nitty gritty, pharma companies and lawsuits drive up the cost of healthcare. I went to law schoold and worked as a paralegal and witnessed my fair share of frivolous lawsuits. You are aware that Obama received a huge campaign contributions from the Trial Lawyers Assoc?

I read books about that the NWO illuminati etc etc in 1980, when I was young and impressionable. I was all hyped up about it for a couple months. I am very familiar with the subject. I prefer volunteerism to paranoid conspiracy theories. Volunteerism entails work and actually helping people in need, which is a blessing.... Conspiracy theories induce fear and hate.
