The infamous diving headbutt by Harly Race at :19 seconds. I've read he wishs he would have never started doing that move. Dynamite Kid used it for his finisher and developed serious back and neck problems. Harley felt this move could have contributed to that. I'd say there was more to it then that but interesting none the less.
I totally agree with you but Beavis and Buthead otherwise known as Bush and Cheney are gone. Now it is Harry Reid and if anyone deserved what David Von Erich got Reid does.
I am a mark, and I mean no offense, but David's full body shake looks a lot like selling. Kind of reminds me of the way Terry Funk would act after being hit with a big move.
I'd hope that if David had really suffered a back or neckinjury that he wouldn't have been moved and actual paramedics, instead of all the guys from the dressing room, would have come to help.
kimbalxyz : I wrestled at South Broadway in the 70's. I'm not a mark. I know the difference between a sell and a shoot. Yes, Race tried to sit out, and David hit feet first, but he still took a hard shot to the back.
and imagine if that coward cheney actually took the great jesse ventura up on his offer but wait ventura actually served unlike bush and chikenhawk punk bitch cheney...
I was at the KPLR studio's in St. Louis watching the taping that Sunday afternoon. David suffered a legitimate back injury for the Suplex on the floor. That was nothing but thin carpet on the concrete floor, and I was sitting next to the camera at the bottom of the screen. The thud from David hitting the floor was brutal.
That could have been how he got hurt. As I remimber from getting my ass kicked whille attempting to learn judo, the idea is to flatten out and slap the ground with your hands. DVE bent his knees and hit with his back arched.
Far from it. David was the best of his brothers and really came into his own after his heel run in Florida in 1982. He was the best worker and by far the best on the stick.
Bottom line, they put butts in seats but after David died it all started falling apart.
I agree. He might not have held a long time but it would have been more than his brother Kerry did.
David's death devasted Kevin and Kerry from everything I have read and heard. Of course it would but Kevin always said he never got over David's death.

Yeah, well luckily Cousin Lance came to the rescue. That helped a bit.
You have no clue what you're talking about. The Von Erichs were the biggest thing in the state of Texas for several years, even surpassing the Dallas Cowboys in poularity for a short time. Also, the WWE world domination blueprint was essentially copied from a concept Fritz Von Erich had been employing for years out of Texas. Fritz was the first to branch out world wide, sending copies of his shows to countries all over the world for re-broadcast.
Mike you are so right, I'd also like to add that since vince had the cable on USA network, and that Fritz could only do so much by syndication. Cable was more widsepread than sydication on free tv. Although Fritz did start the idea of sydication. Vince took Fritz's idea one notch higher.
Probably did. Ask your Dad/Grandfather when he's sober how he got there. Your Mom/older sister probably was too young/busy doing other relatives to know.
I like it when people come on and diss wrestling and it's fans, but yet you're here watching it. Next you tell us that "it's fake" and it's all ruined.
Don't you have higher intellectual pursuits like your latest copy of TV Guide?
over-acting by David Von Erich. It was obvious that Race gently laid him down on that carpet so as not to hurt him. But, it was fun to watch Wrestling at the Chase back then, the greatest wrestling TV show ever. Even better in the late 60s with Fritz Von Erich, Gene Kiniski, Lou Thesz, Dick the Bruiser (in his prime then) Pat O'Connor, Edouard Carpentier, Wilbur Snyder, Cowboy Bob Ellis, etc.
I like how one suplex on the outside puts a wrestler out fo rthe count. Not like today when you have to run someone over with a tank 5 times before they are beaten.
if mvp gets that black thing out his system and starts to wrestle instead of just talking he can challenge for the title but it seems they are not giveing him a push in the last 8 months.
Harley Race. What a underrated wrestler.

I wished David would've kept the claw on and bust a dent in Harley's forehead like he did on the Chase back in 79'.

Blackjack's claw was more believeable because his hands were so huge.
Claw hold from the middle rope...why bother? Ijust don't get why some people think David was so great in the ring.

In anyone's opinion, who had the better "claw hold"-Blackjack Mulligan, Baron Von Raschke, or the Von Erichs?

The Von Erichs, they busted up world champions such as Race and Flair with the move.

This is crazy. It was just a german suplex. Back then the only person used a brain buster was the legend Dick Murdoc.

Von Erichs Kill Von Erichs.
And we all lost so much because of it. No one more so than Lacey Adkisson. Suicide has so many more victims than just the one who takes his own life.

Harley can't leave their opponent and he still want to fight with the champions. That why I like them.
