  • Comment removed

  • Wtf?! Why is it that wherever you find good music you also find arguing? You people are messing with my funk Yo!

  • My work is done.

  • Can't believe it, cussing?, fighting? Maybe you missed what Parliament was all about? Do your Thang, One Nation under a Groove. I suggest you both go back and listen with your mind and not your ears. Still hope for both of you. May the Punk be with you.

  • I've got my James Brown card, dig? 7 up.

I apologize for jumping out on AW. Like I said before, if we were friends sitting at a bar, we'd both agree with each other. Our opinions are not mutually exclusive, they coexist in one reality. I'm off to Funk after Death dig?

  • err...dyslexia, ADD, maybe? I never said "fuck you". I said "WE don't give a fuck." The next time you'll think about this.

We never say your ORIGINAL music culture has changed since Ozzie stopped biting the heads off chickens, Alice quit drinking blood on stage, boys were encouraged to be 'Hot for Teacher", the Chicks killed Earl, the Dead introduced a new generation to Acid, and Courtney shows her raggedy panties. We never say anything about your music...ever...cause we just dont give a fuck.

  • WEFUNK*

  • Go back and review your original statement. After your blowhard pompous paragraph, Only the last three words mentioned PFunk. I stand by my statements and beliefs. Bigotry and stereotyping is often subtle. A lot of people with cancer don't know they have that, either. Racist and bigots come on black sites chronically, unrelentingly with insults. Tend to your own problems.Over 100 American men kill THEMSELVES in the USA. every week because they are damn crazy. Dont ever speak to me again.

  • That's funny, I don't remember speaking to you in the first place, you jumped in on MY comment and called me a bigot, and said my opinion didn't matter because I'm white, despite the fact other black people share my opinion. Fuck me? Fuck you.

  • @ I repeat, U dont find us on those sites talking rock, country, alternative or any other genre of music down because we dont give a fuck. I bet George Clinton understands the beginning, diversity and evolution of Rap, and he is not a bigot. PFunk is for tolerant, party people who live and let live n can figger stuff out. Good day.

  • Back when 'Black Music' meant something. Now it's just spotlights and making money asap like it's the NBA. Back in this time, people had to know how to play instruments, know the musical scale, pursuit of a career with a talent and hard work. Now music is just another lottery ticket in the black community. The last bit of positivity I heard in black music was some time in the early 90's. Jazz and gospel not included. I LOVE PFUNK

  • Thank u for your observations, jfletcherwilliams ...We black people live to please you.

We dont have any observations about your peoples music because we dont give a fuck. Have a nice day.

  • What's your point? I made a point in my post. All you are saying is "I [we] don't care what you think"

    Is that it? Nice comeback.

  • jf,My point is that I get tired of bigots knocking and analyzing rap music. Rap music is bad, good, inspirational, sexist, banal, excellent and all in between. It is not all the same. Only a bigot would think that. I personally do not think that all Country is cheatin' with your buddies wife songs and drunkard songs made by ALCOHOLICS or that all Rock musicians r zonked out druggies who piss on the stage, curse God, and prey on young girls but many are.

  • So I'm a bigot now, for sharing the same opinion as Ice-T (see Soulja drama) and Chris Rock (see "smack her wid a dick" bit) ??? Ice-T and Chris Rock are bigots too? More appropriately, "Some 'a yall n***** are [bigots] too"... Which also happens to be the Funkenstein riff.... know this: I am a big fan of black music. Just because I'm white doesn't mean I'm not allowed to have an opinion.

  • Listen carefully."All Rap is not the same." If you looked in Ice T's music collection or Chris Rock, you would find plenty of Rap.

I believe I said in my last post that it is good, bad and all in between. In your post you said, "Rap Music." It is very common today to see whites come on a site and instead of addressing comments on the music displayed, they have to preface it with statements about Rap which is not even on the page. I know u know what I mean. Ice T wrote Cop Killa.

  • You are changing the subject. You brought up my whiteness as an attack to my point. Attack the point. Secondly, I never used the word "Rap" in any of my replies. I used the term "black music" because that's how the industry has historically defined itself. Thirdly, I never attacked the lyrical content of rap, although I did reference others who have. You and I both know the context of Cop Killa. Stop treating me like an idiot. If I was one of your friends sitting at a bar, you'd agree w/ me.

  • Ran out of character count. Furthermore.. my original point was about the music, the actual music, the notes, instruments, etc. You've managed to take that to a new level that has no place in this discussion: Race. Your first comment was about me being white, ignoring my point, and trying to define Rap which was never really part of the discussion until you made it part of the discussion. I know there's a difference between Will Smith, Kind n Play, Wu, NWA, Ice-T, etc. Stop condescending.

  • pe and rdmc over wu? no way, not metaphorically, not with similes, alliteration or any other way of judging poetic proficiency. Don't get me wrong, the old school paved the way, but wu tang took it to another level, waaaaay above simple mother goose cat in the hat shit like run dmc

  • Doggonit I wish I was born in the 60s or 70s! Obviously 5:26 was a perfect sample....I would of definetly been the original west coast rapper or even an NBA star cus they was weak back in the day.....or at least the top dope boy.....You cant do anything these days cus its too many fake niggas that want to be king and wont settle for being a right hand man....also too many crack babies....this era sucks I swear....speacially 2000....least I grew up in the 90's where the magic ended....

  • lmao i think 0:52 to 0:56 is sampled by mack 10's foe life not sure

  • Dr. Dre Let Me Ride

  • Easy to read wikipedia, can you spot where he has sampled?

  • around 5:46 - 6:12 is where Dre sampled

    for the hook

  • swing down sweet chariot....

  • Back in 1988, Sweet Tee sampled this for her hit "On The Smooth Tip".

  • Nba live 2000 (Y)

  • Hit it fellas! Gettin' down in 3D! Loose Booty! ;-)

  • Mothership Connection.. Ain't Nothin' But A Party, Yall! ;-)

  • go get that 6 pack go stand outside and the mothership will be in route.don't forget the smoke.WU5742.

  • really???.....no shit

  • Dr Dre sampled this tune in let me ride, the chronic

  • Yeaahh, good work. :P

    Amsterdam.

  • Spice-1 sampled this joint too on his song Young Nigga

  • I know in the beginning that is not Bootsy's voice, It has to be Billy Bass the guy that gave Bootsy his sounds voice! Its crazy how everyone overlooks him and doesnt give him the credit he deserves.... Billy is the funk of Funkadelic.... If you google him he is the guy who came up with the name...

  • thats george clinton at the beginning, but ur right billy bass nelson was a huge part of the funk

  • nowadays originality is a difficult thing to consider possible.

  • good music,my man.

  • 5:25 and the rest of the jam > life

    I love that breakdown!

  • i wish swing down chariot was its own song i love the flow to it

  • Well you somewhat say that it was kinda made into it's own song....Dr. Dre had that idea (Let me Ride) I know it's not like the orignal but it's still saweeeeeeeeeet!

  • yeah i like the remix to let me ride betta then the original, but i still wish it was its own track they were sooo ahead of their time w/ the sound they brought to the music genre

  • whats the song that played at the start for the first 15 secs. dat sounds good

  • pete rock skip hop and jump ok

  • love this song !!!!

  • Put a glide in yo stride and a dip in yo hip!!

  • do you or can you extend the swing down part omg it is too good!

  • holy crap I FREAKING LOVE FUNK...I plan to dress up as one of the brides of funkenstein for hallowen...LONG LIVE FUNK FOREVER.

  • BRING BACK THE FUNK!!!

  • HELL YEA!!!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUNK NEVER LEFT

  • Are you Hip to Easter Island... The Bermuda Triangle Ah Ha .....

  • im 48 i was there. this is the first time that ive noticed that everybodies comments were the same. i raise my sac to you all in extreme respect

  • I'm only 20 and i will blast this in my car all the way down the street because I appreciate music from the past and great music at that...

  • It's just me and the boys.

  • Yea I can definitly see where Dr Dre got his influence from and not just from this song

  • too bad music like this isn't around anymore to influence the hip hop of today

  • Well todays hip hop is influenced by other shitty hip hop so it seems

  • it's influenced by mindless shit

today, hip hop is nothing but an abyss of ignorant dances: walk it out, superman, jerking, stanky leg...

  • HAHA True. That "laffy taffy" shit

  • Seriously,

true music like this is no longer around.

What I liked about this is that these people actually had talent rather than being a an appealing icon for the masses. These people played a whole array of instruments and made classic joints... tell me, who in the world today produces timeless classic songs that will be remembered far into the future?

  • Right, no talent in the mainstream as far as making music that will be all time classics.

All mass produced to satisfy us temperairly. The love is gone

  • Exactly!!

Making music for the love of music is gone

making music for the love of money is all that happens today

  • Immortal Technique, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Jedi Mind Tricks, Papoose,

Jadakiss, Telib Kweli, Army Of The Pharaohs, Common, Murs, Celph Titled etc.

theres plenty of good Hip Hop today you just gotta look around

  • Yeah I got all that on my iPod.

The thing is that JMT and Army of the Pharaohs are just not my thing (there's only a few tracks that I like by them, and I personally think Vinnie P is full of himself)

But I love the crazy shit Technique says. As for Papoose, I just never got into his music. I like my old school, personally I don't think any rap group can top the Wu.

  • Public Enemy and Run-D.M.C can top Wu-Tang Clan imo

  • All those people are garbage

  • your a fucking idoit.

i bet you never even heard of them.

saying there garbage is like saying Hip Hop is garbage. listen to some Jurassic 5 or The Roots.

  • yea but what about classic hip hop

  • Comment removed

  • amen to that!

  • he was right.. they were light years of their time

  • STAR CHILD.....WE HAVE RETURNED TO CLAIM THE PYRAMIDS......

  • Dr. Dre - Let Me Ride

  • he was a fan - dropped quotes in several of his songs. Based the whole genre of his off them too, even called it g-funk, all of a consonant away from it's origins.

  • what is the first song?

  • wats that jam in tha beginning?

  • Pete Rock - Hop Skip & Jump OK

  • @irelandhiphop every song you have on here peeps asking the same Question..LMAO! Feel bad for you have to repeat all the time, but thank you for bringing it back old skool!!

  • This is my jam for real.

  • Thanx man. That beat is fire
