i really really appreciated the original vid and watched it in it's entirety. you are really talented with media. why did you choose to make the longer video private? you are doing to world a great service by being so open about your struggle. thank you!
the best thing for this type of disorder is to stay busy and in the public eye.. sports particularly, will definitely keep you from pulling while in them, and when oyu r at home, your too tired to stay awake and pull as much
you should do some activites sports to keep you busy that should help. and thinking you cant control it wont help at all. you can control it your doing it to yourself you have to be strong and over come your situation.
@mikorox08 Uh...I'm pretty sure she's "researched" it as well.....
Anyway, thanks for these vids,@beckie0. I'm also a film major, and I am struggling through PTSD. Your vids have been very helpful and made me feel a bit less on my own.
@mikorox08 You really can't control it. Almost all the time you don't even realize you're doing it. Kind of like my ADHD, I'm always moving my legs but I never notice it. I know, not quite the same but it's sort of similar. No matter how badly you want to stop your body simply won't let you.
Your own Qs list jealousy ... try thinking about it the other way around. Even tho your disorder may often seem to take away life quality/happyness/self-esteem/etc ... it has made you completely shave your head (which you never had to in the first place, since it remained your choice), which is something so many women are afraid of, even tho some even desire it. You may be looking up to them and feel so small, while they are secretly looking up to you :)
My friend has trich. Her parents were always frustrated with her, one time they wrpped her hands to try to get her to stop. All it did was make her angry. She shaved her head with out her parents knowing. She came home andher parents were mad. Her parents wrpped her hands and she locked herself in her room, she rarely comes out because she's depressed and ahamed of herself.
I think OCD like this is worse than cancer... because cancer happens to you, and it's not your fault, but you do things like this to yourself, and then feel guilty and trapped when you can't stop. It's okay Beckie!!
I knew a girl in middle school who pulled out her eyelashes/eyebrows. People used to say it was because of "stress". I never found out if that is true and to be honest I think she might still be doing it. Is that a form of trich?
@JonniKoyote Coming from a religious person, trying to PRAY for HEALING is one of the most I don't know, hurtful things you can say, well to me at least.
It's like one of those things people say like "Oh, all you need is a but if cream to sort it out." It's not like that. It's not like that at all.
@Mimi2Imi I´m sorry, I didn´t want to hurt anyone, I just wanted to help. And it was on my heart to pray, cause I was sad seeing such a desperate person. I don´t understand the sentence with "but if cream", cause my english is not that good. So it would be nice if you could explan to me how it is like...
i have trich and i have my own kind of hair flip, the way your pictures show the escalation of just a simple hair flip to pulling is incredible, i hope your trich gets better soon (:
I don't have Trich...but I do have an obsession with my scalp. I pick on my scalp a lot and find myself doing it when I am stressed or nervous...but sometimes I don't even realize I am doing it until a minute or so later. Idk how long I have been doing this...maybe about a year...ever since I had dandruff or a dry scalp...maybe a year ago? anyways...I am now finding myself doing it at school. Sometimes when I get home I use a comb and get really crazy... I don't know what to do...
@XxComfortablyNumb1Xx You may have some kind of Dermatillomania, compulsive skin picking. I think you should go and see a psychologist, that may be the best thing to do
@XxLevynxX Actually it's called Trichtillomania. It's were you constantly pull out your hair because it feels irritated and it's really annoying. I have it and I'm only 13. It's really hard but I just have to think in my head STOP. But it's still really hard. U actually end up with huge bald spots that are red and itchy.
I love how brave you are to let people so close to something so personal.
I have an issue a bit like this, where i constantly move my hair about but the worst thing is that i scratch my scalp all the time. sometimes it gets so sore.
I'm glad there are people like you who can help me to feel i'm not alone. <3
@MaddieTights13 I know this is about six months ago. But here is what u said on a comment
Why dont you just cut your hair very short
Well. If she cut her hair short it still wouldn't help. I have the same thing as her and u STILL pull out your hair. And you just can't stop. It's hard for people who don't have it to understand. When I was little we actually thought shaving my head bald would do the trick. It did UNTIL it started growing back, then I would start pulling at it again
i have trich too, i pully my eyelashes and eyebrows. I've had it since 6th grade and im goint into 10th now. The problem is that when im upset i want to put my face in my hands, but i can't do that because i start pulling and picking at my face when that happens. Therapy didnt work, neither did meds (made me sleppy though), and my family is completely non-understanding of it. Doesn't help the fact that no one else i know has it either. =/
@hardshoequeen We know, and we care! You can recover, you can get better, I did, I am proof, I had the same exact as you. Please visit tlc.org They are great for young people! They know the real story behind this and saved me! Message me if you want, any time!
and now i'm not going to respond to you(@Rudetube69) anymore because people will only focus them selfs on the comment's and no longer look at the video so no matter what you say i'm not going to fuck up this video just because some guy said something stupid.
@Rudetube69 oh and one more thing it's kind of sad to see a student get mad at a 15 year old boy just because the 15 year old boy is right and therefore call him name's like fagboy come on that's just sad from a 15 year old boy, you could expect that he would call you name's if you make a stupid offensive comment about something rather serious. so it's rather sad that you get mad at a 15 year old boy just because he proved you wrong.
@Rudetube69 that the worst comment you can make seriously. are you a asshole or just stupid. ok weed is a natural herb but A: it's not legal everywhere B: it causes brain damage C: that won't help it will make her relaxed but she will keep doing that to her hair. if you don't feel any sympathy, your just a dickhead. and if you don't have anything usefull to say, then just shut up
uhm first of all i'm not your homie! second i have my shit straight and weed does cause brain damage. it kill's your brain cell's and i just said that i would help to relax but that is not the solution. and dude i live near amsterdam weed is something that's really normal and we all know that it will cause brain damage, it's a fact like if you smoke sigarets you willget cancer. those thing's are simple facts. so just go watch a video's about the simpsons, so you can't make bad comment's
@Rudetube69 i'm not saying you can't watch it but i'm telling you something, i'm saying that you shouldn't make stupid comment's like that cause it could kind of hurt and trich is a disorder weed wouldn't help with this one it would relax her but she would still touch her hair and stuff so what i'm trying to say is come on dude that was a terrible comment and that it's like making fun of it. so all i'm trying to say is just don't say stupid stuff like that.
What I HATE about this disease is that there's no cure. It can be controlled by meds, supposedly, but it can't ever be cured. It's hell for me because this is the first time in 10 years that I'm really coming to terms with the fact that I have it...
Hmm...You haven't been talking about trich much ever since you've gotten your hair cut. Is it better? I've been dying to know. It doesn't seem to be getting any thinner or shorter. It usually is noticable when your pulling or not. No major notices in your recent vids, so I'm guessing it's gotten better...
Beckie, you articulate trich so well and I thank you for treating the subject in such an intelligent, emotional and creative way. This one moved me to tears, it just hit the nail on the head.
I love the effect of silence throughout the whole video and the way you made it seem less colorless. It strengthens the mood and i think you successfully showed the audence a part of you. A crazy part that we all have. We all have different parts though and you showed us part of yours successfully. Thank you for sharing these moments with me. Great video again.
I know I commented two hours ago, but I was wondering, do just like run your hand through your hair and it comes out or do you like, actually tug at it, I really do hope you over come it though <33333333
You are beautiful Rebecca (God i can't believe i called you that)..... Beckie...... I used to twiddle, but none of my hair ever came out.... Maybe little streams, but not lots. This video was wicked, even with out sound.......... Louise bubbles1911
I was thinking when I watched your vid the other day with you wearing makeup: you have grown so much since I first encountered your vids nearly 2 yrs ago. It has been a privilege to have shared these glimpses of your journey with you. Continued success and best wishes always.
I've actually been thinking on this, I don't have a real answer for you, all I can think of is you should try to become a.. gamer, try to play games that you need both hands for, like PS2, Xbox, ect. Try to play games that if you lose eye contact the the screen you could loss. Thats not really much help, I should probley stop typing. good luck beckie =] xo
I can tell throughout your videos that your trich is very frustrating. Whenever I have my hair down, I play with it and sometimes hair comes out. Sometimes just running my fingers through my hair causes hair to "fall out". I have tons of hair around my floor from me playing with my hair and hair coming out.
Want to post a comment but don't really know what to say. I can somehow understand your frustration due to similar problems that I have. I really hope it gets better.. anyway, you're really talented and I hope that this "fed-up-with-youtube-thing" don't stop you form making these amazing videos!
Trichotillomania???? Beckie do you really have this problem? I hope not, you have beautiful hair, I hope you don't tear it out. You know that with this disorder you're supposed to use your hands instead of scissors LOL.
beckie i will always and forever love you hahaha and its really not your fault- youcannot take back what you cantgive and people in todays society need to learn how to accept all kinds of people
thers alot of ppl on here (like me) (and alot more famous ppl like jonnypotter) who will go through the same thing....its hard makin desicions i think i have a choice to make
Seeing as your trich started in year 7, do you think that after year 11, when you go in to sixth form, or college if you do, when you're doing subjects you love doing, around people with similar interests, you might not be so anxious or stressed, you might get more confident and not need it anymore?
I don't know, but it must be horrible, i really hope it gets better for you!x
you don't seem liked the kind of person that would ever need to be ashamed of their hair, I think, despite the OCD, you always look lovely. This may sound like the wrong advice, and I don't mind if you just dismiss it, but I think you should just be yourself. And if that means pulling your hair out, so be it.
good or bad, you never fail to amaze me with your videos.
and, i don't judge you because of your trich, and nor should anyone else. But, it won't be forever. Have you ever been to doctors or something to help yourself, or is it that you don't want to and you want to have this trich? <3
Wonderful vid. I get you laughing at the scissors: if you pull your hair out, why would you need to cut it?
I've had Bi-Polar Disorder for years, semi-related to OCD stuff, -- a lot more is known about these mental things now, so you should be hopeful you'll get over the trich.
Beckie, I can't get over your videos, they're GREAT! I watched this over and over again just to see your facial expressions and how you put it all together..you are very talented!
OCD, addictions, and trichotillomania can be beaten. Much luck and will power to you. I have a keychain that clicks apart and together. I keep it in my pocket and it prevents nervous ticks (or it IS my nervous tick? lol). Try keeping a pen on you and clicking it or something. I realize it's hard to focus when you're compelled to do something. Just try doing something else in place of hairpulling. It's easy to focus while clicking a pen. It's hard to focus while pulling out your hair.
aw i love your hair! it always looks so pretty in the pictures and videos. if i randomly touch my hair like that it always looks a mess but when you do it it always looks so cute :D
I think as you get older you will slowly get over the subconscious urge to pull out your hair. I've had friends with the strangest ticks when they were teens and they just sort of grew out of it. It's frustrating now, but there are certainly worse things you could be doing.
i always love your videos! i know that its hard for you to stop but just keep your head held high. tomorow is a new day and you have a bright future ahead of you. stand tall and smile beckie. i know you can =D

I have tons of hair around my floor from me playing with my hair and hair coming out.

what if you attach your hair? isn't it harder to pull this way? (I don't know... I'm trying to find a way to help you)

I've had problems with the same thing. It's torturous, but it'll get better as you're able to calm yourself more with time.

i feel so terrible .
beckie your beautiful dont worry about your confidence.
listen to music, don't stress about the little things.
life is so much better when you let go of the things that make you unhappy.
your hair is beautiful and you should appreciate it.
youve inspired me so much and it hurts me to see you in pain or suffering.

Trichotillomania???? Beckie do you really have this problem? I hope not, you have beautiful hair, I hope you don't tear it out. You know that with this disorder you're supposed to use your hands instead of scissors LOL.

Georgiasayshello 2 years ago
you don't seem liked the kind of person that would ever need to be ashamed of their hair, I think, despite the OCD, you always look lovely. This may sound like the wrong advice, and I don't mind if you just dismiss it, but I think you should just be yourself. And if that means pulling your hair out, so be it.
We think you're amazing as you are x

beckie,
good or bad, you never fail to amaze me with your videos.
and, i don't judge you because of your trich, and nor should anyone else. But, it won't be forever. Have you ever been to doctors or something to help yourself, or is it that you don't want to and you want to have this trich? <3
loveyou x

Wonderful vid. I get you laughing at the scissors: if you pull your hair out, why would you need to cut it?
I've had Bi-Polar Disorder for years, semi-related to OCD stuff, -- a lot more is known about these mental things now, so you should be hopeful you'll get over the trich.
StevenErnest 2 years ago
Put down the scissors and step away. Do not cut your hair, Find something else for your hands to do. How about another video?

Beckie, I can't get over your videos, they're GREAT! I watched this over and over again just to see your facial expressions and how you put it all together..you are very talented!

Or just cut it?

If you look at my "Beckie takes a photo" - I had it cut quite short jan last year.
No matter what length it is, I ravish it.
But I see your point :)

NerdfighterAnna 2 years ago
I think as you get older you will slowly get over the subconscious urge to pull out your hair. I've had friends with the strangest ticks when they were teens and they just sort of grew out of it. It's frustrating now, but there are certainly worse things you could be doing.
I like the editing of the video. Nice work!
