I think the idea that the Obama administration won't use the NDAA is fool-hearty at best. Why would lawmakers dream up this draconian legislation and then not use it? I fear the "excuse" is coming soon.

I also agree with your comments/questions regarding Obama's views on these issues. I think that it is very strange, almost conspiratorially strange, that he has so completely turned around on these issues. I was soooo convinced that he really wanted to change these things, to restore the US reputation as the land of the free. Now, I don't know what to think anymore...

thanks for putting some light on this issue. It truly puts the US to shame, and makes it - and, by association, the entire west - almost completely unable to have a moral stand in the world, in particular when telling other authoritarian states to change their ways regarding human rights. I also think it is incomprehensible that mainstream media is not more upset about Gitmo, NDAA and the like.

So thanks for the internet, and for those -like you - who are using it to bypass mainstream media!
