  • LOL at being attacked by a water pump. I can tell you hang out with hickok, yalls humor is the same.

  • keep em coming nice job

  • Это ж ссцуко чугуниний!!! мягкий нах! его и ПМ может пробить, только наверное не с такого конечно расстояния))) видео - шляпа!! 2 балла

  • Thumbs up simply for stating "... so if you are ever attacked by a 1980 water pump .. you stand a good chance" ... LOL! Great stuff.

  • You should try changing your coolant regularly, it will help. Nice Videos.

  • Ive never been attacked by a 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo water pump.

But, in 1985 i got attacked, in the front seat of a Chevy Monte Carlo, by a water buffalo! Her name was Pam :-( i was really drunk at the time!

  • wish i would have seen Ricardo Montoban do this back in the 80's.

  • One thing I have learned over the years, never buy re-manufactured water pumps.

  • those were great cars.

  • Why do you seem to stick to the 1/9" twist rates? Why not 1/7"?

  • @hjjfffaa Unless you are building a custom gun designed for SUPER heavy for caliber 223 loads 1/9 works fine.

  • @Kylef7735 Well would the 1/7" rate be okay for lighter bullets along with the heavier bullets?

  • @hjjfffaa Sometimes yes sometimes no

  • @hjjfffaa Because it fires both 55 and 62 grain loads decently as opposed to leaning one way or the other, good choice for recreational shooters.

  • lol attacked by a water pump

  • I sure wish I could just go in my backyard and shoot. Well, maybe it is just as good. I would be spending a lot more on ammo.

  • cast iron is fun to shoot at but does nothing to prove ballistics - way to brittle

  • Also it was shot at 60 yards from 20"-18.5" it's the same velocity 14.5" which what is in an m4 your only losing less than 100 fps which does nothing in a 300 us or less engagement. In a shtf world if your engaging over 300 yds your the bad guy.

  • I think your right cast iron and brittle. Awesome non the less but brittle.

  • correct if im wrong but that looks like cast iron

  • no glock in the world will do what he just did with tahat 223. glock sucks.

  • @SupremeAmerican I am no Glock fanboy but to be fair, you're kind of comparing apples to oranges--Glock makes handguns, this is a rifle.

  • Great post! Thanks for sharing. I'll try to get some of my tests on the green tips up here tonight too.

  • I had a 1988 White Monte Carlo SS, T-tops with floor shift.

  • I bet your neighbors really enjoy all the noise you are making.

  • @barbershop22

It keeps the bad guys out of the neighborhood; the neighbors welcome what they hear as "safe" gunfire.

  • No you don't need anything special to buy tracers or green tip

  • Do you have to have any special lience to buy tracers or green tips

  • Sweet....

  • TN...acutally a pretty funny. Typical guy vid. Shoot at anything to 'see what it does'.... lol...right on man! Keep em coming!.... oh, and make sure your wear your safety helmet and welders gloves next time partner.

  • I love vids. like this.

  • Nasty round

  • Great shooting man and nice rifle. The green tip will eat through the steel like butter becuase it cast and not forged much weeker.

  • Alot more interesting than shooting gel. :-)

  • I'd like to see more of that rifle. The iron sights and solid buttstock combo really make ya feel good.

  • @Yumyumtuna

There are several earlier videos posted, but I have yet to post a "formal" review of the rifle itself. That particular rifle is the "house" gun, preferred over my carbine.

  • Woooo Look at the rust fly off that Piece Of Chevy!!!! LoL

  • Now that was so cool. You had a nice group on the side of the water pump. You did a number on that water pump. Great video. Ok, I am going to watch it again...

  • Nice. Finally a test against an everyday object and not just a straight piece of plate steel!

  • nasty round - I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that

  • is this the same ar you have a scope on or is that another one in the collection?

  • @kniedelm hes got a different one, a varminter setup that has the scope on it

  • I'd like to be the 100th person to say that pump is cast iron, not steel ;-)

Kidding aside, SS109 can take out an engine if need be, might require more shots fired than a .50 beowulf of course due to the lightweight nature but it just makes the .223/5.56 AR more versatile. If the SHTF, I'd have at least one magazine in the rig loaded with them just in case. I've loaded some with Varget powder and found them to be quite accurate.

  • LOL Can't really say I have been attacked by a water pump but I sure have had some irritate me, even borderline provoking. lol Fun Vid. Thx!!

  • I dont want to know what it wil do to a human...

  • thanks for good video

  • I want a video about the car. I love the 78-88 Monte Carlo!

  • For anyone thinking of doing this up close: You WILL spend the afternoon picking shrapnel out of your skin. Ask me how I know!

  • SS109?

  • Nice shootin' without any optics!

  • I guess that twisting yourself into a human pretzel and taking cover behind an old water pump won't do you any good in a fire fight :(

Now I have to find something else to hide behind.

Impressive results from those Green Tip rounds!!

  • What is your opinion on the M4-style AR-15's (16" carbines), as opposed to your "classic" Bushmaster?

  • @pyrolowryder

I prefer the 20" barrel vs. 16" carbines. The .223/5.56 is SO dependent on barrel length for terminal performance. I understand why 16" rifles are popular if not essential for the military, given their mode of transportation, CQB, etc.

  • Another great vid.

  • your videos are perfect, thanks man

  • ....... Respect the Green Tips.

  • Very cool! Nothing like giving a piece of junk a final hoo-rah by making a target out of it!

  • i don't think that's teel. looks a lot more like cast iron, and that's pretty brittle. Nevertheless, those green tips sure would stop a car in it's tracks if you hit the engine. I wonder what it would do to the engine block.

  • Mr. tnoutdoors9 could you test the penetration of 30.06 M2 Armor Piercing rounds? The m855 is standard military ball ammo with soft steel "penetrator", but the M2 is true AP with a sharp hardened steel core - should bee muuchhh more fun :-) and maybe place some ballistic media to catch the cores after penetration to see the "wound channels" it would make. I always wandered how effective was that ammo on tissue after penetrating barrier. It was standard issue in WW2. M855 is standard now

  • rust smoke, dont breath this

  • pointless video, an brilliant LOL!!!

  • Nice job....they don't make stuff like they use too.

  • this is what makes me hate living in California :(

    no extended mags

    no steal cored ammo

    no tracers

    Assault weapons Ban

    ...no fun!

  • What brand of M855 did you use?

  • @EnduringEagle

    Winchester.

  • @45atMYside standard infantry doesnt use the green tip. just fmj rounds.

  • excellent video , would love to see some 5.56 in ballistic gel . Thanks again

  • Cast iron. The belts are probably too tight which will wear out the pump bearing very quickly.

  • yea thats iron you wouldnt expect anything to be made properly by checy would you.

  • Heck the water pump looked pretty good after you painted it :)

  • I can recommend you to don't facilitate with those chevy pumps. You deal very well with that one. LOL.

You have no mercy with that crap.

Nice video, it was really instructive. Army got a nice green tool and you got some ones!

  • When I was in high school, my dream car was an '86 Aerocoupe. I still wouldn't mind having one. Of course, with a better water pump. LOL!

  • now I know for the next time that happens.

  • I didn't ever find a video of a rifle or pistol round against a running engine..

you know the "44 magnum can blast through an engine block" myth?

Lovely video though.. keep it up!

  • I feel so much safer now. You never know when a water pump is going to go wild have to put down. Thanks for saving us all! Grin, Grin, Grin.

  • SURE THAT ISN'T CAST IRON? LOL

  • @frodo70444 It is cast, not sure what the alloy is.

  • @ArtisanTony i would be willing to bet iron

  • Dude I love your AR-15 I'd love to have one just like yours but it probly will cost a few thousand to buy one like that.

  • @scapolaris90

I bet you can find one like this for under a grand.

  • @tnoutdoors9 what do you think about acogs like the ta31 rco for the 20" ar-15

  • @tnoutdoors9 i found the one i had for $895

  • @scapolaris90 Nowadays I'd recommend a Smith and Wesson M&P 15. One of their flat top (only a rail on the top, with detachable rear iron sight) guns with 16" barrel and mid length gas with great build quality runs around $800, and you really can't beat the quality for the price. From what I understand, Bushmaster has gone down in quality in recent years, and for the price they can be beaten. (from someone who doesn't own either, actually.)

  • @scapolaris90 I built a 20'' AR variant for about 900. DPMS A3 20'' Upper from MidwayUSA (great prices!) and a Rock River lower with a match 2 stage trigger from a local store. It shoots like a dream and is buttery smooth.

  • Best corrosion product removal method I have ever seen when the rust began to blow out the back. Lots of fun watching this. Keep on recycling. This was a neat idea. Normally I would expect a plater to have to get the insides clean or rust. You can do it at 3000 fps!!!!

  • Hi there! Great video. I fired my share of M855 during my time in the service, but shooting at paper targets or pop up targets for qualification you don't appreciate the capabilities of this nasty little round. Now recently the Army put out the new M855A1, their first GP round that can go through 3/8" steel plate at 300-350 meters, and performs like their match round. There's a video of it here in YT and you can google it.

  • I miss my 5.45x39 steel core rounds.... oh happy days lol.

  • Interesting target and great shooting!

  • You should shoot it some more.

  • Those rounds also work great on Nissan trucks.

  • ☆☆☆☆☆

  • Never buy a auto parts store water pump. It is the heart to keep your engine running cool. Always buy an OE one from the dealer. You may have to pay 3 times as much, but it will last 10 times longer.

  • @tnoutdoors9 if its chevy novas that you like, you should see mine. me and my dad painted it candy apple red and everything. shes a beauty

  • I love me some green tip!!

  • CAST iron wont hold up to much, perhaps next time you can shoot up a Toyota

  • Too bad our officials deem M855 as AP and cant be sold to civilians w/o proper permit.

  • *note to self don't hide behind a pile of Monte Carlo water pumps if SHTF* js #LOL

  • that water pump is made out of cast iron. the steel is only the pulley, shaft, the rear plate and maybe the impeller...still thumbs up!!!

  • ZOMBIES, brains, i want to eat your brains, wait lets take the monte carlo, brains....

  • Now I want to see the Monte Carlo.

  • mmmhhhhmm penetration shooting makes my night lol

  • there goes the core charge!

  • my green tips are marked "not for duity use" :(

  • i hear they work great for two leged varmits as well...lol, i do know from personal use while in the military they have great penetration on soft skined vehicles, like the ones we all drive on a daily basis, just an fyi...happy hunting

  • nice shooting. was thinking of getting an ar 15 like that what brand do u think is good to get.

  • ★★★★★

    Good stuff.

  • never figured you to own a monte ss. nice ride, i own a 86 GN, your water pump lasted longer than mine tho. thanks for the vid! always enjoy them

  • @captainkaos131313

It actually belongs to my daughter; I had nothing to do with it. I'm not even allowed to get behind the wheel in the freaking driveway! She probably has a sense that my days of driving a 1972 Ford LTD and old Chevy Nova would come back to tempt me!

  • @tnoutdoors9 thats funny! i like those ss's but its hard to believe that GM only offered a 305 in the car. kinda weak for such a heavy car. again, love your vids and looking forward to more ballistics on 9mm self defense rounds, im thinking about going back to my trusty glock17 gen1

  • @tnoutdoors9 your daughter drives a SS ?may i ask for her hand? :)

  • @tnoutdoors9 You couldnt do too much damage, its only got a 305

  • We need the m885a1!

  • @tnoutdoors9 nice video

  • Cast iron tends to shatter on impact, but that pulley mount was a pretty good representation of penetration on steel.

  • Now if that had been a FORD water pump, them bullets would'a bounced right off. Haw haw haw!

  • Damn, I needed a Chevy water pump, lol

  • Well there's your problem...

  • Those water pumps are mean lol great video we should go shoot one day I live in Kentucky

  • Would definitely stop a rampaging lawn tractor :P

  • my friend has an 86 monte carlo.. he loves that thing.. i always thought they were fugly as shit though.. nice video as always brosef!

  • Impressive!!!!

  • Wow! Pretty impressive I must say. Nice video!

  • the atf just declared that all solid core ammo is armor piercing and banned, but not M855 or SS109. The SS190 32gr penetrator is their object of affection, but in their eyes its ok to try to classify all jacketed ammo as armour piercing next.

this agency is sellling cocaine to the US and guns to Mexico and wants to disarm

the Patriots, something is rotten in Holderville.

That water pump is not going to get your core charge waived. ha ha

  • I don't know...it looked like that water pump was still moving a little when you first walked up to it. Maybe it was just the nerves! :)

  • this is really neat sir

  • Wheres the control test with JHP?

  • great video Where do you buy your green tips? you can PM me

I have bought some that were not steel core and a waste of money

  • @chevyforlife1972NOVA

I haven't bought green tips in two or three years, and never online. I used to have good luck and good pricing buying in bulk from local dealers and frequently at gun shows. Those days seemed to have passed. My stash is sealed and buried underground in a bunker near Terra Lingua.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Do you have the GPS coordinates for the stash...for like..you know...if you forgot where you put it or something :o)

  • @chevyforlife1972NOVA check your inbox

  • @chevyforlife1972NOVA CheaperThandirt and Midway USA has them on sale right now marked XM855 penetrators. CTD is selling them on stripper clips for $12 per 30 the reviews are mixed but they sound authentic.

  • @chevyforlife1972NOVA Go to bulkammo.com

  • @chevyforlife1972NOVA you can get them at natchezss(dot) com they have green tips straight from the Lake City military plant. They come in a green box marked ferdal m855

  • Jeez, no wonder the military needs a bigger, slower moving bullet.

  • after seeing this video i thinks its a good idea not to stand in front of those

  • you can tell its cast iron by the way it shattered

  • That fan plate is solid steel, not cast iron. Impressive.

  • Those parts are made of cast, the new and the replacement. Jeeze dont we wish the quality control was what it used to be, nothing beats old school quality, Oh yeah! thats whats wrong nowadays!! LOL great video, thanks and keep them coming!!

  • @ScubaOz

You know what, that 1985 water pump might be around here somewhere. Several of the parts were replaced, by family members, in 2008. They did the work here at the house. But true, it seems that parts nowadays are cast iron, powdered, etc. as everyone has noted so far.

  • Most of the small block chevy water pumps are actually powdered cast iron,or "pot metal",good video like the grouping.

  • shoot real steel not cast iron, way to soft for this ammo :D

  • More please!

  • pretty sure thats cast iron and not steel still pretty devastating

  • 1:39-1:43ish such a nice group lol. I would not like to be on the receiving end of those rounds. Did you do a ballistics test on those puppies with the semtest media?

  • Man I just got rid of a water pump from a 1989 Dodge Dynasty I could have sent it to you. Cool video thanks.

  • surprisingly even M193 will go thru your standard 1/4 Cold Rolled steel. I have a Video shooting some mild 1/4" steel plate, and both M855 and M193 (IMI current production, true Nato spec ammunition) pass through with ease.

  • @BuffmanLT1

Agreed, I've done the same thing. Wanting to try 3/8" and 1/2", that will tell the story!

  • Well, there's your problem... :-) Excellent video!

  • LOL... great video! My brother always used to brag that his Monte Carlo was "built like a tank"... now I can show him conclusive evidence that this was, in fact, not the case.

  • @gtvigilante

The original parts ARE built like a tank, but replacement parts have proven to be crap. Several parts replaced along the timeline of that water pump have already gone south, and the car has low miles. I'm thinking it hasn't reached 60K....I kid you not.

  • U are awesome my friend!!!!!!

  • Another great video! Thanks for taking the time to make them.

  • damn that's a nice grouping!

  • @bigkurtis26pointohh

Thanks, I was getting pissed about my misses then I saw the two hits on top of each other and the last shot that fell into the group. The 1:9 twist is good with that ammo out to a certain point; also depends on barrel length. 200 yds with a 1:9 and 24" barrel? Forget it, been there done that. I need to get a 1:7 upper and run some real accuracy tests with 5.56 mm and optics.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Wow, great vid as always! If you don't mind me asking, what upper are you looking at to fill the 1x7 role? Thanks!

  • @IndianaGeologist

Haven't settled on a brand right now, I'm about 3-4 months or longer for that purchase. Other than Bushmaster, I've owned uppers/lowers/rifles from Rock River and DPMS. I do want a 20" barrel, obviously a flattop.

  • @tnoutdoors9 Well I can't wait until Christmas comes then, maybe Santa will bring you a 20" upper, lol.

  • I love how in the summertime both yours and Hickok45's videos have all those dang bugs making all of that noise in the background.

  • always good to recycle things but only after giving them a good pounding of bullets, great vid, cheers.

  • wow that would stop a car or truck who needs 50?

  • What about the new M855A1 the military is now using?

  • Comment removed

  • @killerex010 The M855A1 5.56x45 is better then the M80 7.62x51 at penetrating and tissue damage

  • @killerex010

I doubt any of that is surplus, so would be difficult to get. At least I've haven't seen any. XM193 55gr is everywhere, with the 62 gr green tip less frequent. I'm also seeing alot of 64 grain tracers on the market.

  • I'd like to see what the bullets look like after they have passed through that much steel. Maybe that could be a future video? :)

  • @forrest225

I could try some sandbags behind a 1/4" or so steel plate. I consistently notice segments of the jacket, perimeter of the hole on 1/4" steel when it gets "punched".
