lollipop29982, this was the way people from those times found to escape their reality - rememeber that the 1930s and 1940s were hard times. It was World War II, and everyone truly believed it was the end of the world. Remember what happened in the turn of this century (from 1999 to 2000)? It was FAR worse for the people from the 1940s, because they were facing disgrace every day. Anyway, I, too, love the art that was produced during those times.
