  • That is similar to what they tried to do but that still leaves the problem of catching the oil from the top and the water/oil mixture freezing on its way to the surface.

  • put pants on pervatoris rex

  • @puffadderbite: besides, once the pipe is pluggled, they could put cement behind the cuff, proximal aspect of it, and further seal the pipe, because there won't be an oil leak or it will be minimal.

  • @puffadderbite: It's pretty much like a cardiac stent. The "steel cuff" would have a inner lining of kevlar or any other hard resistant material, and should be "inflated" using mud, junk, etc, so it can preserve its shape and plug the pipe. The oil pressure against it should be diminished by the straw-like pipe that will re-direct the oil flow to the surface into a cargo ship.

there is about 3,000lbs of pressure at the bottom..its about 30below 0,..kevlar is resistant to about 20below,..but it also will not stand under the 3,000lbs of pressure..kevlar will crumble,..its kind of like you showing me your idea in your garage and I take a 3,000lb weight and put it on top of it,.submit your idea to BP and keep your wheels spinning

  • @puffadderbite: I just demostrated the principle, and it could work. The cuff can't be made of rubber because at that low depth and temp it may not viable, BUT, as I said, they should use steel to create the cuff. Have you seen a stent? The ones used for cardiac cathetization? They could replicate that at a bigger scale and you have to "inflate" the cuff with golf balls, tired rubber, and else. Besides, how come I saw a fish swimming down there at that low temp and high pressure? It's possible!

im not understanding how u can make a steel cuff? if the cuff is made of steel,..as it goes into the gush,..what is sealing the sides? this idea is only possible from above where rubber seals are used.

  • You have to understand how cold it is down there, using a cuff would not work because no materials will last down there...only steel can be down there. Rubber or anything else will crack and turn into nothing.

I have a solution ,.youtube - gulf oil fix solution (by puffadderbite)

  • @puffadderbite the technology exists to fix this problem they need to pull there heads out of there arse and fix it NOW
