Oh Lila this looks great. I love the symbolism in the dish. With all that symbolic meaning, it's easy to see why this is eaten for the new year. Your dishes always look so healthy.

I wish we had all these asian ingredients here in Beirut, Lebanon. It kinda of a hassle going from one supermarket to another trying to find everything in your recipes. btw are you originally Chinese? I lived in Guangzhou, China for the past 2 years I just moved to Lebanon 6 months ago. I loved the food there. Completely different than the regular Chinese restaurants in America and Middle East.

@Robby303 I'm 1/2 Chinese and half mix of English, Irish, German, French and Dutch. I was born here in the US, but grew up with my Chinese grandmother who cooked authentic Chinese dishes. I try to do a mix of both Americanized versions and authentic dishes. Though most of the people I cook for are used to the Americanized versions :)
