WRONG!! WRONG!! and all wrong...... The EGO follows rules, NOT THE SUPER EGO!!!! The Super Ego can in fact go greatly against the rules. The ID and the SUPER-EGO in that sense have plenty in common. The super-ego will go against law in the name of its own "INTELLECTUAL/ABSTRACT ideal. The ID will go against law in the name of its own "FEELINGS". Conforming to societies rules, is still ego, it is the manipulation and delay of id to serve the ID in the long run.

True Super-Ego can only occur when the Ego develops a learned habitual pattern that overrides the instinctive pattern. What they both have in common is that, the instincts do not require conscious involvement, and neither does en-grained habit. So in a sense, you could say that the "Ego" is the only true function of limited consciousness. The super-ego is still a form of "non-conscious" and the ID is a form of sub-conscious. ID is instincts without intellect, ego is instincts with intellect.
