When I was a messenger I was skinny because I couldn't afford to eat, I wore bike clothes everywhere because I couldn't afford any real clothes, I didn't even own a pair of non-spd shoes for a good year or two...but I could always afford beer! The point is messengers are messengers...most of us couldn't afford to buy something just because it was "hip"...then kids started mimicing our utiliterian style...we used to call them fakengers.
