@wweforeva1234 Go to Menu - Settings - Connectivity - Network, and change your network mode from Dual Mode to GSM. Then, go to Ovi Maps and change the internet connection from online to offline, your Ovi Map is set and ready for use without you been charge a dime. The main reason you are been charged is because your 3G is still active. Just follow the instructions above and see what happens. Goodluck

I got this phone on pay as you go. Im using a top-up 3 network which gives me a limited amount of internet data usage allowance... but as it says it free navigation, does it mean I can use the maps and navigate without running out of my data allowance. does it use my internet data??? =[ anyone???

@bhooowan3 download the latest version of ovi maps then download the map specific to your country. after downloading, you can use it without a network coverage. it's because the maps is already stored on the device, which doesn't need anymore connection. it doesn't buffer like google maps, which means, you don't really need gprs/wifi.

considering this is 7 months old, and the phone was only released recently....it still doesn't occur to the iphail trolltards that the GPS might not have even been installed in this no doubt ALPHA build of the fucking phone.

AND at least it can RECIEVE CALLS. Notice how he's holding the phone? HOLY 3G SIGNAL STRENGTH NOBODY'S NOTICING...

Guess there's no iphone app for common sense these days.

Hi nokia, I owned a C7. I tried the Ovi Maps...the application somehow require an internet connection in order to show my position or even navigate me. It works if im connected to the internet, but it fails when i tried using offline mode as the data plan in malaysia is very expensive. It says free...but y does it still require to connect to the internet?

Without an internet connection, the maps service can't download maps of the places you're trying to find your way around. Have you ever tried accessing  youtube with your computer's internet connection disabled? Do you even realise that broadband and 3G aren't free?

Youtube is free. But of course you have to pay for the internet to use it....

@bergslag the way i see...I'm an n900 user, i LOVE maemo5 and I've always thought of symbian as a crusty old dying OS for 5 year old 'smart' phones since my old 5800, but the more i see of the N8, the more i recognise this new symbian has some of maemo's star features, improves them, still keeps some of symbian's good old features. home-screen/multitask is very maemo, the widgets UI is very maemo also though like in the n97 you can't move them around.

It's not android, but still a good effort...

not even got a signal. ovi maps is very slow and poor compare with htc or even iphone 3gs. even when u move ur finger from one place to another the touch response is too slow! IMPROVE THAT NOKIA

Wow what a poor marketing video. Did not find GPS signal the whole time the video was playing. If the GPS lock is terrible at least don't reveal that to potential customers.

@etuoyo It's filmed in a studio! They have roofs - GPS signal doesn't go through roofs... not even Nokia's. It's pre release firmware, and when it's released it will be free! So, relax - sit back, have a Coke and a smile. Marketing is working fine - I want one. Windows 7 phones and iPhone 4 are so behind this, it's incredible - but I might be tempted by the Evo 4G Android. Currently, HTC Desire is the best mobile device by a long shot.
