Wow thats expensive. I feel (prove me wrong if you wish) that e-book readers need to drop to around £100 to really take off. Also surprised by people bigging up the ipad here. I would really like to sit down and have a ten minute chat with every single person that buys one. Tablets in general just seem so...pointless
Why are some morons comparing eReaders to the iPad? Unless your eyes are synthetic I have no idea why anyone would want to read a book an a glaring iPad LCD screen. To be honest, I'm completely against all forms of digital reading of books, but at least eReaders are easy on the eyes.
I must agree to this comment. eReaders ARE easier on the eyes. People who are comparing, obviously don't read, so I think you should just ignore ignorant people like that.

you forget the iPad has LED back lighting, so the brighter you turn up he backlight the less flicker the LEDS give therefore less strain on your eyes. This is how you overcome the problem :)

@Digitalbumpin But eBook reading isn't the iPad's only function nor its only USP. The problem I have with the Kindle and other eBook reader like it are that you can read books...and not much else. With the iPad you can read books/magazines with colour and then do a vast amount of other interesting things with it such as watch a movie, play a game or surf the internet. As seen in this review surfing the internet with the Kindle DX is terrible.
