I just want to thank you guys over at fxhome for making awesome software. I have effectslab and compositelab. I am thinking of upgrading to hitfilm. I like that you included audio in this package. You guys are really helpful. Thanks!
@FXhomeHitFilm When I go to upload my video, it's in a really bad quality :S I only have 5GHz in total, and I'm running the demo. So is it "just" my computer or it being a demo, or something else?
@mikkelme Well, in the demo you can only upload videos that are thirty seconds or less, correct? Perhaps it has something to do with that. Most likely though, you have to match up the import video quality at export. For example, If your video is 360p and you try uploading it at 720p, the video comes up with bad quality.
@FXhomeHitFilm : Hey guys, I really wanna know: How the h*** do I tie like an effect, such as gun flare to specific frames, so it doesn't appear throughout the whole clip or movie? I'm running the demo version, if that matters. Please reply :) thinking of buying the program because of the simple interface and all that's included.
I downloaded a demo of HitFilm and for some reason it runs SO sluggishly and slowly. It's a nightmare to do anything on. Even just scanning down the timeline is so choppy. It's impossible to do anything with. Why?
I have a Phenom II 64-bit 2.6ghz Quadcore system with 6GB DDR3 memory that runs Premiere CS5, After Efffects CS5 and even Autodesk Maya 2011 smoothly. Why is it that HitFilm runs on it like I'm using a 100mz single core processor with 10mb or ram?
@FXhomeHitFilm ATI Radeon HD 3200. It's integrated. What affordable card would offer a massively dramatic improvement? This card has no problem running Maya 2011, AE CS5 or Premiere CS5 though. Thanks for your reply. :)
@StarCoreFilms The 3200 is a relatively old card. Something like a 4600 or above is what we recommend. We are also working on lots of optimizations at the moment to improve performance for all users.
@TheLegendHD This can edit videos, has a way better particle engine, easier to learn and cheaper. This is also more visual effects focused so a lot of stuff are built in to get you started. AE is better for motion graphics work and can do stuff Hitfilm can't.
@LickableElbows Full details can be found over on the HitFilm website. Ultimate has many more effects and features. Which one you go for depends on what you're looking to do. :)
@mulraf There are export limitations, but otherwise it's the same as the full version. Check out the 'Film damage' video on our YouTube channel, you'll probably like it. :)
Do you plan on incorporating built in tracking at some point? What about integration with AE? The Muzzle Flash generator seems to be the only one available, and I love the particle system. . Also, I bought EffectsLab Pro a few years back. Is there an upgrade of any kind?
@anim8ordude You can already import 3D camera tracking data to HitFilm Ultimate, and we'll be adding 2D feature tracking as soon as possible (in a free update). As an EffectsLab user you can get 40% off HitFilm - login to FXhome.com to get your voucher.
@Kegvman if it's an official version, not even your conscience. But maybe better 3d and better particle simulators. (workflow ae->blender->ae for each effect like slightly more realistic smoke (for example smoke raising from moving object) is really struggling.) I would NOT switch, maybe use both programs, but not stop using after effects. (But if you have an official version of AAE that you plan to completely stop using, I would need one, so... :D)
@Kegvman defenitly not! after effects is the best animating software you can have...only thing i could imagine which is better in hitfilm is the 3d stuff...it's also possible in after effects, just more complicated
The reason why I am hesitant to purchase this, if that I would not buy Ultimate. i would buy standard, but all of the videos of my interest on this channel are all Ultimate. so if you would upload clips that you made in Standard, that would be great.
so excited about this, i love how its just so well priced, which is why i was drawn to you guys in the first place (fxhome), but this is on a different level and i am looking forward to getting my hands on a copy - looks like you guys have really done a good job
@marksest One major difference is the HitFilm price: $149 for Standard, $399 for Ultimate. All-in, no need to buy additional plugins to get great particle effects and more.
@FXhomeHitFilm Very true, and the capabilities of the program are very impressive for $400 software, but whats to make me use this over after effects if I've already bought AE?

@mikkelme You can either trim the layer on the timeline so that it only covers the frames you want, or keyframe the muzzle flash to not be visible.

[Same question as Kegvman]
i think i'll just download the trial version and take a look at it - i hope that there are tv noise fx ^^ - that's one of the things i miss in AE
are there any worse things in the trial version or is i can just use it for a small amount of time ?

YummyPornFlakes 6 months ago
@Kegvman I think the particle generators are really good.
You can do stuff like make fire, put it over something and the fire will go round it, rather than just sit there.
But really After Effects is still much better. More professional. HitFIlm seems like a bit of a toy, much like FCPX is a toy (FCP7 isn't however).

What makes this better then AE? Looks interesting, but its hard to compete with industry standard software thats been around for quite a while.
