  • Hi Vee, good question!

1-when you machine quilt you will sew that basting thread into your quilt

2-removing all the basting thread takes as much time as removing pins

3-pin basting is faster than thread basting, pins are all gone when you are done

4-use a white thread. Other colors may crock onto your quilt and leave marks on your quilt

5-a FABULOUS batting by Mountain Mist called GoldFuse and WhiteGold... it fuses the layers together, no pins, no thread!

I hope this helped, let me know!

  • Thanks!!

  • Pat,

i know it would take a lot longer - but wouldn't a very loose set of stitches with say 'red' thread be easier when it comes time to do the machine quilting?

You wouldn't need to worry about where the pins are??

    just a question ~ you're the expert....
