  • its a.............. perfect weapon!!!!

  • Jeff has a glandular problem where his weight is exceptionally hard to control.

  • I wish I had a teacher like him! He once passed just by me at the street in León, mexico, and I realized it has him like 20mins later!!!

  • It really is funny to read as someone throws rocks from the side lines....! How many of the rock throwers have fought someone of Jeff Speakman's skill level....? Remember boys and girls, to see is to be deceived but to feel is to believe.....!

  • @1333Hannibal1 I don't need to feel to believe, I know even with one punch from him my ass would be kissing pavement, I have been able to practice a very little time in the past with some begginers and 1 teacher and even though the teacher's hits were not delivered that hard I actually felt more pain than with a beginners full hit

  • While it is true that being in good shape is preferable to being obese, true martial arts do not absolutely require it. Arts such as Kenpo & Kung Fu have an internal structure that the practitioner must "find." Once said practitioner finds his structure, he can ironically become lazier with his technique (meaning he no longer has to strictly follow textbook motions for the techniques to work). While Mr. Speakman does appear to be over-weight, his Kenpo is better now than when he was young.

  • Never said he was not a Bad Ass...the Perfect Weapon, just got it off Ebay DVD...expensive but worth it.

Just don't understand why martial artists have to get fat. I would be embarrassed!

  • Lol, he was a badass in the past and a fat ass in the present.

  • T'was a race between Steven Seagal A.K.A, "I AM the Walrus" and Jeff "Blimpie" Speakman....who could get fatter, not throw a proper front kick, and probably hasn't seen their willy in a great many "whiles"....

    Get into ma belly...!!!

Seriously, still some bad asses....FAT bad asses, but still bad asses!

  • @garcia356 - You're an ass.

  • It doesn't matter what kind of M.A. you prefer or practice, it will always give you an edge in any combat.

  • Speakman was great. I'm not sure why people are so critical of him? Maybe it has to do with the latest flavour (MMA), but the strange thing is, that people are such followers and not practitioners, that they are easily swayed by the latest fashion of fighting. At one time, I remember when Perfect Weapon came out, and everyone started gravitating towards Kempo Karate. Remember Thai Boxer with Van Dam? Following that movie, everyone started gravitating towards Thai Boxing. Fickle minded people!

  • @OCPRS

    Sir

Do you know if the forms Mr. Speakman's teacher Mr. Parker used in his American Kempo are the same forms used in Kajukenbo? Mr. Parker & Mr. Emperado both trained under Mr. K.S. Chow did they not? Thank you for your time. Osu

  • @1banryukyu

Sir? Friend, you don't have to call me sir, I work for a living.

As for the forms, I really don't know. I'm just a fan of Jeff.

Sounds like you know more about this stuff than I do. Peace.

  • @OCPRS

Thank you for your honesty and time. Osu

  • I was expecting Indiana Jones to pull out a gun at the end...

  • This guy can't kick at all. You think after all his years of study he could at least front kick, but no. All that slapping.

  • @clearcombat It`s kenpo dumbass less then 30% of kenpo is kicks.

  • @ray7287 Kenpo is a joke. Why is that all these so called masters are all very overweight. These moves are useless. Find another martial art to study.

  • @clearcombat I am a Tracy Kenpo black belt and if you want I can maybe show how much of a joke it is if you want no pressure or anything..........

  • @ray7287 First off, I was a combat karate 3 time tournament champion. I have been in the arts for 25 years and I have been in street fights in NY and in NJ. I trained with the Lt heavyweight PKA champion "The Warrior" in Staten Island for a few years so please save that dojo crap for someone else. All of you traditional guys have no idea what it feels like to be hit. You guys are still using snap kicks and lunge punches. Tracey Kenpo is a money making dojo.......... that is it.

  • @clearcombat WoW do you feel better now ok here is my resume......Black Belt Shotokan......Brown Belt Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu....Black Belt Tracy Kenpo........Currently Train at Defcon1 MMA for 6 years now before then Elite MMA Academy for 3 years with 2 professional fights all can be verified so like i said when you get ready to be hit hard just let me know karate tournament champion...........

  • @ray7287 I don't believe a thing you are saying. MMA is self defense, you are just a beginner.

  • @allinthemix10 are you his bitch......

  • @ray7287 Jane you ignorant slut, jumping from one mans bed to another and smelling like vomit in the morning after........................

  • @allinthemix10 Lay off the METH that shit is bad for you.........

  • Do not be mistaken, he may have turned 52 today, but he still moves as fast and hits as hard as ever.

  • speakman has a medical condition that simply causes his body to retain extra water. it looks like fat and makes him look bad, but it ain't fat and he hasn't lost anything.

  • @blakops1 oh yeah, compare that form to the opening in the perfect weapon.

  • @blakops1 the condition does that? or is it the meds? girl i know has to take prednisone and nothing she does stops the weight from coming on. just curious. speakman still rocks no matter what

  • I would still let him watch my back in a dark alley ( Dude can still kick butt ).

  • i wonder how he got this belly, he seems a bit active in his sports

  • this is long form 6 or longform 7.. cant believe he's gonna be an 8th degree black belt in a few weeks from now...

  • @axler0se This is long form 6.

  • every martial art is limited...its not the art thats good or bad ..its the person whos applying the art that makes the art good or bad...if someone has completely mastered the elements of kenpo vs a good boxer...that boxer is gonna fall..

  • Hmm.....this looks practical.

  • Hes lost his mind. Whers the form jeff...

  • A .lot of weight with the right execution of technique gives you brutal directional harmony.

I go to every seminar from Mr Speakman whenever he is in germany and yes,

he has a lot more weight then in his older days, but everytime I´ve seen him,

    I´m deeply impressed over months.

  • I met Jeff Speakman back in 2004, truly one of the nicest people ever, and brilliant at his craft.

  • It's also that as you progres in MA, you gradualy use less and less force as you learn to move the most efficient way.

old masters spend less energy, but they don't change the energy income, so they become fat.

  • Hey, the Prefect Weapon form - Sweet! Anyone here know anything about it?

  • whats the song called

  • wight on or not you dont want a slap of him do you

  • wow, can't any guys get older without putting on a beer gut. I know the metabolism slows down, but just exercise a little more, and cut back on the junk food. You don't have to be ripped, but keep the fat off. I can only imagine what he looks like 8 years later.

  • Superfoot Bill Wallace sure looks great after he retired in the 80s. but i know what you mean. seems like they a lot of them put on pounds.

  • Mas Oyama says "Hi". As MA masters get older, they get thicker and harder.

It's not a beer gut, but continual rotational torquing of the midsection and deep belly breathing = depth of abdominal muscles. In contrast to popular "six pack abs", which look good at the beach and on the surface.

  • No, he IS fat. I trained at one of his seminars a few years back and he has seriously let himself go. Which for some reason is true for many martuial artists as they get older. Bruce Lee always always used to comment on this - the fact that in most sports, people stay fit, yet for some reason in martial arts they get fat!

  • Wow he put on some pounds and went downhill quick after The Perfect Weapon!

  • no body has respect for someone who still continues to push the art of american kenpo damn shame but i guess thats what happens when people think they sht dont stink

  • I agree his kicks are nothing in this, Mr. Perfect weapon is a typical fat old guy

  • Those are some lazy-ass inside blocks and even lazier jump front kicks. Is he on Benadryl or something?

  • I don't know about whatever he is using...however, I'd not want to do battle with the dude,,,,,

  • neither would I, but I'm not commenting on his fighting skill but rather the performance of technique in this form.

  • couldn't agree more with you mate.

  • What kind of Drugs are you on?

  • He has gained alot of weight though since the perfect weapon movie was made.

  • hey !! havent we all gained a little weight, and grey hair since the 2001 championships in ireland... haa haa

  • Actually, he has some sort of auto-immune disorder.....apparently it kicks in after a certain age,,,,it certainly wasn't for a lack of exercise as he is an exercise fiend...

  • he has AIDS?

  • no...an auto-immune disorders....Chron's disease

  • he is currently a 7th degree black belt in kenpo and will be testing for his 8th degree next year in las vegas

  • whats the song? , Jeff rules !!!!!!!!!

  • Mr. Speakman is a 7th degree black belt in Kenpo karate

  • Comment removed

  • dude is gettin kinda haggard. cool video.

  • Comment removed

  • WOW UNREAL

  • Speakman is an animal!

  • hahahaah conheçam o brazilian jiu jitsu , royce gracie , helio, ryan , isso ai é uma merda

  • I'm am tired of people asking if actors can really do their stuff. Real martial artists try to avoid real fights on the streets!

  • absolutely, the thing is with movies (and I've learned this by briefly learning fight scene choreo) is that movies are totally different than just doing a technique with a another person, the fight has to look good enough and the actors must protect their partner dureing the fight scene. So it depends. If you wonder if say Jet Li or Jackie Chan can do their stuff, then absolutely they can, but actors who've never learned a fighting style certainly can't.

  • I would say that Jeff Speakman knows his stuff, when he made the Perfect Weapon, it said in Inside Kung Fu that Jeff Speakman is a 5th degree black belt in Kenpo Karate.

  • anyone know what degree he is now?

  • I don't but I do know that he developed his own style of kenpo karate called Kenpo 5.0.

  • This is true. I recall one practitioner of martial arts that I've encountered noting validly that most people who study martial arts never actually use them - something that perhaps can give us hope about the extent to which we value peace and civility, most of the time.

  • I guess that puts me in the minority - if you do practice, practice hard. It might save your bacon.

  • I'd like to, actually. There is even an American Kenpo school within walking distance of my home. I, regrettably, have very delicate retinas in both eyes, which makes them subject to tears (as in "torn", not crying). An accidental blow to the head, or even a fast spin on my part, and I could have a serious eye injury. Years back, I'd hoped to study martial arts until discovery of a tear in one retina required surgery, and kind of put the brakes on the whole idea.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 ever try using visors? Unless of course you mean tournament fighting, I'm sure you can still study the martial arts using visors during sparring or any partner training.

  • I'll look into this, Sayerservante, and thank you. My initial guess would be that a visor of some sort would offer protection against blows to the head, but not to the torque from a quick spin or jerking motion on my part alone; but. I'll need to talk to someone with a little more knowledge about this than I have now. Thanks again!

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 the beautiful thing about martial arts is that you DONT have to do your kata/form/whatever fast. In fact, its sometimes better if you do it slow, for instance in Tai Chi, it helps you learn your body in regards to balance and just how the muscles respond to certian movements, as well it ensures proper technique.

  • @nariiscryer you are absolutely correct my friend doing the form quickly gives you a cardio workout, slowly works like plyometrics for strength conditioning and if you vary speed in your forms it helps with explosive speed and power......god I love the arts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jeff can put this all together with an opponent too...I was on the other end of his foot and hand at a seminar once, and he is the real deal. To address why he doesn't fight: Why should he? He is close to 50 now and still healthy. Why mess that up?

  • WOW,He's still participates in demonstrations?!As long as the masters continue their practices,I will continue jogging and the others.Thank you for posting this and shareing.Really appreciate it!

  • you know if there exsist anny match videos of him from he's early days?

  • Can anyone tell what is the title and the artist of the song what is going under this video? thanks

  • I'm pretty sure it's on one of the Matrix movie soundtracks. The Matrix Reloaded, I think.

  • It is Dread Rock by Paul Oakenfold on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack

  • Excellent!!! Only those that practice kata understend it´s way and real aplication. Nice

  • I wonder does it exsisst any real!fights with jeff.s? or are there onley movie fights?I would like to se him in un staged fight

  • So go to his school and fight him, then you'll have your answer. problem solved.

  • A kata is no different than krav maga self defence tactics, they only difference is you do them by your slef in a sequence of movements, then you get a partner and do each self defence move by its slef. One self defence technique in a kata can have as many as 50 variations

  • kata sucks

  • Kata's are to teach you to flow from one technique to the next and to fight attackers from different directions.

  • hotmale949, you are an idiot, if you knew anything about kenpo or martial arts you would know that no one kata is ever done the same, there are katas I do from chosin chibana and there are some differeces in the way he did it and the way I was taught, no forms are ever consistent considering you can make as many practicle variations as you want to them. go educate yourself before talking.

  • Excellent!!!

  • You want to know the real joke? Him kicking your ass while the rest of us stand and laugh!

  • Mr speakman did a seminar on ground work at the jersey comp last week and i found it amazing :)

  • Awesome!, Ed Parker, Bruce Lee and Jeff Speakman are my favorite Martial Arts/Science experts. Kenpo Karate is the Gold Mine of Motion. I did learn some basics like. Two Blades, Sumo, Spreading the Leaves, Closing the Door, Crash of the Eagle a&b, Passing the Horizon a,b&c, Retrieving the Horizon, Raising the Staff, Duck Bill, Thumb Lock Release, Dancer, Japanese Stranglehold, Eagles Beak abc&d, Cimeter & basic Kicking Technics. Watching Jeff makes me want to practice again.

    Sir Demetrios

  • I know there's bunch of people that go around bashing all the martial arts. Why do you guys get mad? I notice most of you guys try to speak some sense into their heads but it's not worth it. Let them be. I believe all martial arts were created to serve their purpose. Not everyone feels that way though. We can get into a pissing match over whose MA is better or we can accept each other and learn from each other. By the way, I'm a Wing Chun guy. I have much respect for all arts. Kenpo is awesome.

  • @todei79 I to am a Wing Chun guy and yes my thoughts exactly...

  • mr speakman is 1 of the greatest kenpo masters Ive ever seen currently Iam working on form 6 and i hope that I will be that gracful in time thanks for posting vid.

  • I competed in that and I don't remember him at all. Weird. Problem with kempo is that there have been so many splits its ridiculous. I'm a black belt in "traditional style kenpo" and now its bein suggested to me that I should start from white belt at the modern style...madness

  • If you don't take that advice because you don't want to loose rank than that is madness. Does wearing a pretty black belt mean that much to you? Fuck the belt man. Rank is nothing but a title. It's the knowledge you possess that counts man. Go ahead and start the modern stuff. You will most like advance very quickly unless it's changed that much but even then, what does it matter? It's only going to make YOU a better kenpoist. Do it man. This is an honest selfless man speaking to you.

  • And I possess a greater amount of knowledge than those arrogant so called "black belts". Yet they focus not on the quality of the exponent but rather on the validity of their "new" style...disregarding others.

  • I knew they were both from Hawaii, and knew about the tournaments, but never knew about Stone's association with Parker's studio's,etc

    Interesting...Thanks for the info

  • No Problem......... I always want to use my knowledge and history about Kenpo subjects to help anyone and I am trying not to sound like a know it all.

  • Mike taught for about four months, before breaking out and opening up his own school. SGM Parker and Mike Stone were both KaLiHi Island guys from Hawaii. The source of information is from Memories of Ed Parker, by (Ed Parker's wife)LeLani Parker (1997)Delsby Pubications

  • just read someone said Mike Stone was a Kempo guy...HE was a Kobayashi Shorin Ryu stylist

not that it matters, look it up.

Nice video, too many haters on here.

  • I think where that person must have gotten that idea from was because Mike Stone competed at The IKC and was even The Light-HeavyWeight champion a couple of times. Mike did in Fact went through a Instructor's program taught by SGM Ed Parker himself did in Fact taught students for Mr. Parker

  • TO EVERYONE WHO IS NEGATIVE ABOUT MR. SPEAKMAN: I would appreciate if you kept your negative opinions to yourself. People come here to see clips of Mr. Speakman. They don't need the any bull remarks from Speakman haters. I have trained with Mr. Speakman and HE is the best at what He does!!!

  • All of you guys are fighting/arguing about who and what is the best. Judge your own fighting skills; not Mr Speakman or Mr Parker. I know street fighters who are accomplished. Sigung Bruce Lee said it best; "absorb whatever is useful to you". If Kenpo, Jiu-Jitsu, whatever is not good for you or you think 'worthless' then spar with one who is. Test your own mettle.

  • liquid kenpo raver! :¬) the fight with the korean's and oddjob in perfect weapon are goood!

  • kenpo rules. not too flashy - had to really work to get the 1st and 2nd degrees.

  • a real fight is when it's for life or death period... and that's what kenpo trains u for...

  • In PW he started with form 4 and went into form 6, all mixed with some fingerset and additional moves. One of the greatest performances I saw btw.

What you see here, is a very good form 6. I can learn from this!

  • Lone 6 ??????? He did it better in The PW

  • i think what he did in the beginning of PW was form 6 and some other stuff mixed in. been a while since iv seen it tho.

  • Mr. Speakman was not doing Form 6 in the Perfect Weapon but rather grafting different short and long form together along with blocking, striking, and stance sets. It could have very well been his own thesis form for his Blackbelt.

  • this isnt karate

  • exactly, its kenpo

  • no it isnt..

but watch some of the applications of these techniques, then you will know how effective this stuff really is.

  • 0nly the power of shotokan will set your mind freeeee

  • what??

kenpo is a very powerful and literal system..

    what are you talking about?

(im not dissing shotokan, ive heard its a great style)

  • If you see kenpoist actually fight real time...they dont do all those intricate movements. The techniques end up like everyone else fighting...sloppy or uncoordinated.Look at UFC kenpo fighter keith hackney...he got his butt kicked by RUAS,GRACIE.Kenpo techniques look powerful when demonstated in class. But i bet that wont be the case in the street.

  • why then are there countless kenpo bodyguards, bouncers, police, correctional officers, security guards, etc? violent jobs.. it must be made to work fairly well. kenpo is about concepts and principles of motion, physics, and bio mechanics. not pre set techniques. REAL fights are chaotic and uncoordinated regardless of your style.

  • name the bodyguards, bouncers, police. This information is unfounded. Most kenpoist havent proven real time. Has tatum fought real time? Only one that fought was hackney..and lost.

  • you're calling a UFC match a real fight? im sorry.. how old are you? you know how much those people train, and prapair and watch their upcoming opponents fight? you cant do that in real life. never the less. here are some. Ron Chapel, Paul Mills, Ed Parker himself, John Herman, Martin Carver, Jim Guy. the last two i know personally, not that anyone on here would. in a Tatum interview he says he had people come and challange. dunno if its true, but if you have proof otherwise.. i dont know.

  • What you are saying kenpoist dont train? Ive seen them donkeys yell like a bunch of teazed highschool kids. In the UFC..if you bleed you are in a fight. And just for the record...a solid TMA like Shito, shorin or shoto can break the ribs of an idiot kenpoist.

  • sorry, -real- fights dont stop when you tap, or quit. you cant watch videos of your next attacker, or already know what they have in their arsenal.. you dont know who might attack you, where or when. you train for the unexpected. yes someone can break a kenpoist's ribs.. anyone can break someone's ribs, whatever style they chose. get the chip off your shoulder man, chill..

  • You either have or you don't. Yeah tap out or not, if you have skills to fight then you fight. A warrior fight in any scenario wether its sport or realtime. But these kenpoist train in this illusionary enviroment. They get caught up in the Ed Parker mysticism of things. Real time is real training.

  • one name FRANK TREJO !! have you guys seen the new gladiators, these kenpo guys including Benny The Jet crucified everyone in the 7os,

  • i went to one of his seminars just a few months back.

  • I won't dis Mr. Tatum except for the fact he along with several others put on a 10th degree GrandMaster belt. The highest ranking blackbelt ever under SGM ED Parker was Elvis Presley. And for all he did for Mr. Parker and American Kenpo is was rightfully so. You will never see Mr. Jeff Speakman wearing a 10th dan blackbelt because he has working for every rank he has received. Mr. Speakman respects that his Mentor SGM Parker was the only one ever to have wore a 10th dan blackbelt.

  • elvis was an honourable 7th dan, because of who he was and what he did, not because he progressed through the ranks !

  • The Cage is a nice safe little place to fight, it requires no enviromental awareness and there is a multitude of saftey factors at play. There is no comparrision of PO to cage fighting, how ever there are many half hearted Poist's that dont bring any real credit to MR. Parkers System but No Matter What Po is the Real Deal!

  • what style do you think Elvis's bodygaurd Mr Stone studied?..KENPO..

  • RENTZ46 - Get on the floor with him cunt. See who comes out second best. I know were be putting my money on. It wouldn't be you thats for sure.

  • id take a cage match over a real fight in a heartbeat. least in the cage life (mine or my attacker's) isnt at stake. dont use one or two people in the ufc/pride/etc to judge an entire system. not every bjj guy is a gracie. :)

  • but look past all the intricate stuff..

most of the techniques in kenpo are very brutal.

but in karate they are very controled. if u use control in a real fight your gonna get hurt, and kenpo teaches you to be ruthless and in a fight that is one of the single best traits to have.

  • hey, why don't you chill and let all us kenpoists do what we do best without people like you dissing the kenpo style.

if you had a lesson in kenpo you would probably understand what the other likeminded kenpoists are trying to explain, so until then stop bagging other styles.

  • Great form, always liked this form. I can't believe how chubbier geoff is on here compared to in 'the perfect weapon'!! though

  • who did the music track? it goes really well wit hhis form

  • esta arruinado, je

  • What form was that? It looked like a version of L6? Is that correct?

  • Yes, it is Long 6!

  • That don't look like Jeff Speakman for some reason. I wonder when this video came out??

  • Appologies to CobraLord - I meant to type PuckyKenpo

  • I would LOVE to see CobraLords videos - He 'seems' such an expert

  • speakman definitely has the real okinawan/chinese footwork. you can see it in his weight transfer. props to him too for upgrading his style with mma.

  • isn't okinawa in japan?

  • The man can really move, his movements flow like water - beutaful to watch. Let those that give negative comments post their own videos for comments !!!!

  • I know! It looks like he's doing kung fu almost, but this is kenpo ryu he's doing. So swift and amazing! Now we know why he's 'the Perfect Weapon'!

  • Remove my comments. We all know Jeff Sucks!!!!

  • ur an idiot

  • Can you do it better?

  • isnt that form 6....im just now learning that one...its a really cool form! Jeff Kicks some serious ass! he's awesome

  • very nice!

  • Isn't he doing Long 6?

  • That is one hell of a long form.

  • Then you should see Long Form 4 :)
