Slayer started do covers of bands early on utill they began writing their own shit first song Jeff belives they wrote was Aggressive Perfector off Metal Massacre there you go they were highly influenced by Judas Priest and Iron Maiden so thats why these songs sound like them thats 2 of Kerrys favorite bands! Then Jeff brought in the punk cause he was really big into that had short hair so Kerry metal fused with punk and came out thrash Tom didn't care what kind of music was playing
If you like other , inheard of metal, check out VSD from Baltimore on youtube. VSD- mental Breakdown , Conformity Sucks, Kill Your kids, and 2 other songs.
@priestTR Not at all.....they were playing a TROUBLE song off the PSalm 9 album. NWOBHM isn't a music style. It's just a title for the fertile period British Metal history of the late 70's/early 80's.. Not all the bands in the movement sound the same.
who was Slayer opening up for? So funny Slayer had to kill the headline band lol! Slayer knew they were good they didn't have to brag. Of course these songs like in the documentary said when we first started we did covers and then starting writing our own shit some of these songs are from them not sure about Assasain Blitzkrieg is different name who are the other songs by the ones they play like Simple Aggression doesn't sound like Aggressive perfector etc?
Well your wrong....sorry to be the one to break the news to you. You were most likley to young to even remember. I was around when both bands started, and you are wrong, dead wrong. It's simple, I've been to over 20 SLAYER shows. I saw LAMETALICA once, that was enough.
i seen metallica with cliff. i am 33. faster does not mean heavier. Yes slayer play at faster tempos than metallica but metallica are way heavier than slayer during those days
@patman5961 You're calling Metallica pussies? Try not to blank out pussies before you put out a comment like that. I'm laughing pretty damn hard to be honest.
Because, when they was making material for Show No Mercy, they thought that those tracks weren't too hard to show up on this album, and never made it on any release. Well, maybe one does and it was 'Ice Titan'. Some of the riffs from early songs were put to others like one of the riffs from 'Ice Titan' that we can hear now in 'Altar Of Sacrifice'.
cause these were covers songs thats how Slayer started until they came up with their own songs. Or these songs didn't have the edge they wanted to create their own style makes sense cause you don't want to put music that sounds like priest or maiden when your name is SLayer they came up with their own style but that being said could of added like a bonus years down the road actually they did on the Soundtrack to the Apocalyse 5 disc set Ice Titan is on there
I turned the falling snow button on over this.. it's magical :')

Those who are really interested with Slayer's history knows that in their early days they were mainly inspired by Judas Priest.

SLAYER: Metallica:
Show No Mercy Kill 'Em All
Haunting the Chapel Ride the Lightning
Hell Awaits Master of Puppets
Reign in Blood And Justice for All
South of Heaven
Well, side by side if you think they were heavier, IMO, you missed the boat.
Oh, and btw I'm 46

1 more thing, SLAYER have never SOLD OUT like LAMETALICA did those pu**ies!
SLAYER rules!!
patman5961 4 years ago 10
...Tom Araya is a Christian, which takes away from the band since a majority of their songs are anti-religious.
Although you're right about them not openly selling out like Metallica, it seems like Slayer has basically made fake music

not christian mormon....and not till 2004

slayers anti religious music was to shock people and let them know they were thier just like venom and others slayer nevcer sold out
