You can probably skip the Plastic Prep. I would recommend washing the plastic in warm, soapy water then drying them. Try not to handle them with your hands after you've washed them. Your hands have oils that might cause the paint to not stick.
Thanks for the excellent video dude i just got some splash guards for my acura tl type-s for $10 on ebay they look preety good now time to do the same thing you did thanks alot!!!
Hello ManClubAustin, Im in the process of painting a complete new set of mudgaurds, I was just wondering how long it has been now since you painted them and if the paint has not cracked or flaked?
I painted them in December 2009, and they still look as good as the first day that I painted them. The prep work is the key! It takes time, but it can make or break your paint job.
Good luck and post up some pictures when it is done.
I ordered my splash guards on clearance for like $50 and I bought the products you used in the video from Paintworldinc I will be spraying w/ Nighthawk Black Pearl. I'll post up a short video upon completion.
@KulLex Touche....however, I don't advise wearing your Sunday best while painting. Perhaps you can wear the tshirt that was given to you by the company that subsequently laid you off. I was actually unemployed when I shot that video.
Cool...glad to hear it! Of course I had some left over paint, so I looked around the car for something else to paint. I wound up painting the plastic engine cover in a black/silver two-tone, using the same masking techniques. It came out great!
Great help! Watch this video. I was surprised when I found out yesterday that my 2008 accord already needed new rear pads. They were going to charge 180 bucks at the dealership. I bought some pads for 36 bucks and watched this video. Took me 1 hour, including the time needed to find and watch this clip. Thanks a bunch!
Do I need to use the Plastic Prep if my splash guards are brand new?

Did you paint 'em? Let's see the finished results. Nighthawk Black Pearl looks awesome - hints of blue metallic in it.
