They only started being clearly better in the 18th century thanks to their superior navy, with nonetheless periods in which they were inferior or in a balance of power situation with the French. France was always a major force on the continent. Brits were lucky to be on an island. And yeah, no comparison because the US is too young and hasn't fought enough real wars against real enemies to even be considered in a comparison.

I was stating that England the US were stronger simply because they could expand throughout the world. where France did not have that luxory because this was around the time when the vikings were just starting to discover North America. We are not obliged to place the adjectives after the name, in ordinary language we can place certain adjectives before: "un grand chat" or " un chat grand" but we use more often the first sentence. "Un grand chat sympathique" or "un sympathique grand chat" but you never hear the last sentence although it's grammatically correct.
The color's adjectives are always after the name except if you want a poetic sentence you can place it before.
