  • OMG!!! Thank you soooo much!!! I have an apple so the places where things were, were a bit different but you definitely helped!!! I'm doing a project for school and the computers at my school only work with mp3 formats so I was going to be so bummed! So thank you so much!

  • yes, but why you wanna do the conversion if ACC sound quality is way better than MP3`s

  • @randyana most music editing software doesnt support ACC format.

  • @randyana to put on, say, your kindle touch.

  • This works awesome.

  • thanks sooooooo much! I almost purchased some software on line! you are legend!

  • put it on MUTE, and everything is ok :)

  • thanks, this really helped :D

  • Please cut the music and talk!

  • Thanks for the tutorial! Might want to look in to getting checked out for schizophrenia though. You can't possibly think that audio was appropriate can you? I would have rather gotten Rick rolled.

  • Ok, but is it reversible? I'm asking this because my dad has a MP3, but I have an actual IPod and I don't want to have to give up my songs.

  • AAC/M4A is CD top quality, converting to MP3 causes the song to lose quality but raise memory usage. Please stop converting to MP3, it ruins your music.

  • this doesn't work

  • Even thought its compressed to compressed, the quality is pretty good, just be sure to set to 320 in the quality settings (click custom... and you can choose 320)

  • Thank you!!!!!!! <33333

  • sweet, it works great! edit / preferences / general tab / import settings

  • i cant find the importing tab..?

  • Many users are looking for MP4 to MP3 converter mp4 to them. file extension. This is due to conversion of MP3 MP4 audio files to help them extract them to a more portable format.

    ww.stmt.yolasite.com/mp4-to-mp3-converter.php

  • this worked for me---thanks a bunch! In my older version of iTunes you could just go to the toolbar and "Create an Mp3 version" was already there and it was easy. Thanks for making it easy again!

  • @Facelessreviews24 For windows click "edit>Preferences" In Preferences up top it will have "General" go down to where it has "When you insert a CD" on the other side of that it will have "Import Settings", click on it and set it up how you like it. Then after that it's the same as the video.

    Cheers.

  • @Jordie59 thx

  • You rock linkman! Thanks so much!

  • Oh my god I am so excited. Earlier I went into wmp and had it scan for all music in my computer and will automatically add any on my computer into wmp, once I went to advance and changed settings to mp3, I highlighted multiple songs and albums and right clicked and clicked on change to mp3, then when I go into my wmp i can see them being added one at a time. I am going to be able to put all of them into my wmp without any fuss or effort, thank you, thank you, thank you,

  • thank you ~ now i can convert my midis to mp3

  • i've had success with this before, but it wont work now.

  • i dont have an importng tab...

  • why does itunes shut down when i do this?

  • wat song is this

  • see i have a phone i wanted to do this for, but i also have an ipod. by doing this will it affect listening to music on my ipod and does it copy the music from itunes and format it on a MP3 encoder on your computer's files. and if not can i change it back to AAC

  • @Sinnawai i got the droid 2 and one of the first things i did when i got home was syncing my itunes playlist onto my phone. well that turned out to be a pain in the ass for about a week till i finally just gave up and re-downloaded the songs off of limewire ina .mp3 format. so anyways, i just tested this and it creates a second copy of your music file in the same album folder as your original but in the .mp3 format. so it should work on you phone and not affect your ipod.sry reply L8 tho..

  • IT'S THAT EASY!?!!?! I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COMPLICATED (I HAVENT GOT ITUNES)

  • when I right click after changing it to mp3 encoder and pressing ok, there is no choice for convert selection to mp3

  • @teardropsofhope7 then you need to click on "ok" on the previous menu

  • @teardropsofhope7 me too! did u figure it out in time? if so tell me plz

  • if it were a purchased song from iTunes can it still be converted to an MP3 format?

  • Thank you!!!!!

  • on the older itunes you go to edit > preferances > general tab > import settings. then change that to mp3 encoder so when you right click on a song you can make a mp3 copy of the song.

  • @madeinjapan317 and on iTunes 10.

  • good to know u can do more at once than just 1 cause i have almost 1200 songs lmao

  • Thanksss !

  • aac (a.k.a. mp4) is better quality than mp3, and it also takes up LESS memory than mp3

  • Thx so much man. Thanks to you I can finish my project for school. wish me luck!

    (>")>

  • which version of itunes is this on? i have the latetest 9.2 and i do not see a convert to aac option anywhere.. under advanced, i dont have an importing tab..

  • @gArBgebIN

It's just a button called "Import Settings" under the General tab. From there you can change the encoder to MP3 instead of AAC and apply custom settings like bitrate.

  • This works with iTunes version 7. If you don't have it, you can find it on the website oldapps. Probably works with other versions, but that's what I had installed when I tried this. I know for a fact it doesn't work on the latest version.

  • this helped sooooo much! and i didnt have to download anything! thank you!!

  • Does this work on iTunes 9? Because the Advanced tab looks nothing like that.

  • If i convert my music to AAC can i still listen to it on my Ipod because i need to convert it for my xbox

  • I love you dearly, thanks for posting this! :)

  • Mahalo... that really helped :)

  • can itunes convert wav to mp3??

  • so helpful!

  • on the current version of itunes, there is a one click "create mp3 version" under the advanced tab. The original purchased song remains unchanged and the mp3 is added below it

  • Thank you sooo much!

  • i can only convert so many files in a day. is there a limit to how many you can convert at once?

  • Hey creator you say that "Probably it says "Convert Selection to AAC", which is useless because your iTunes tracks are already in AAC format!"

Not true... using convert to AAC for me (for a lot of my files) lowers the quality of a song from 256kb/s or over to 128 kb/s ,but honestly it's not a noticeable downgrade in audio quality . But by doing this it effectively halves the memory each song takes up.

  • Thanks!

  • My create AAC version is missing when I right click. I went to edit, preferences and import settings. It's already set to AAC yet when I right click it no longer shows up in the list like it used to. My iTunes is up to date. What do I do?

  • @Readmit I have that exact problem too..

  • @ArianShok I think I know what to do now. Highlight the song you want to convert, go to advanced and there should be a "Create AAC version" option. I don't know why it no longer shows up in right click, but whatever.

  • whats the name of the song

  • Oh my God!!! Took me and my dad about four hours how to figure this out... I said why not go to google and it brought me to this video!!! Thanks!!!

  • "Note: These settings do not apply to songs purchased from the iTunes store"

    Brilliant.. just brilliant.

  • how do you do this with itunes 9

  • Hey man i just found out how to do it i remember on tha old one all u did was right click and u would see convert to mp3 now u gotta go and left click tha song one time then on top were it says file edit store all dat shit go to advance and u will see convert to mp3 i hope dat helped u out

  • @Razkal956 thanks, that was bothering the hell out of me lol. :) For a minute I thought Apple removed that feature, but thankfully they didn't.. just made it less accessible!

  • hmm, this is good to know in case i ever get a non-ipod player. i doubt it but hey, im still glad to know it. thanks

  • nice song choice!!!! Justice for all!!!!

  • I had an ipod but it busted and im now left with my library. Im getting a zune hd in a couple of days, is there anyway for my itunes to get on my zune. Is it possible ?

  • yeah so easy to just right click

  • You know you can just right click the song in the library and click "Make MP3 Copy" or something like that

  • That doesn't work for copy protected songs....which is what most people would want this for.....

  • This doesnt work in iTunes 9..the most recent version.

  • what if mine just tells me it cant be converted because it has protected files

  • omg THANK YOU!!!! SO MUCH !!!!!

  • You are a Godsend! Now I can use my Windows Media Player, don't have to download Rhapsody, and I can get a cheaper mp3 player instead of buying another iPod. Thank you so much for showing this! AWESOME!!!

  • in the new version of itunes, you can just right click and create a mp3 version

  • YOU ROCK MY SOCKS!

  • thanks so much :). my phone only suports mp3 format

  • Theres no way that when you put album covers to a song...it will create new files in the system????

  • I don't have the tab either but all you have to do is look under preference>general>when you insert a cd>import settings

  • Edit>preferences>Inmport Settings>....then it will just be there at the top

  • rofl

  • Great info, Linkman3100. It definitely worked for me. Thanks to you I could get the job done in less than one minute.

  • 14,000 views nice

  • wat if it says "could not be converted, because protected files can not be converted to other formats" ??? then wat do u do??

  • You can't do anything because its Protected only unprotected files could be converted.

Well there is a way but you'll need iTunes of course a blank CD and Windows Media Player.

If you still want to know how because I don't know if you already did it just send me a message and ill send you the video that shows you how to do it.

  • Hey! I'm having the same problem trying to move protected songs. Could you send me the video as well.
