Music has a deep impact on a human being and his perception. I have nothing against summer, but the sun and it's warmth have the ability to drown a human mind into a drunk-drugged state of being, and that is fatalistic . I am happy winter is arriving. Air is clearer, less people outside.
I love Sokurov. But I think that this documentary, and Confession, are groundbreaking exercises in soporofic self-indulgence. For me he's at his best when he takes the novel elements from his documentaries and merges them into one of his unique films, such as Mother and Son or Russian Ark, which are magical amalgamations of documentary and fiction.
