24 dislikes? Did this video get hit by a bunch of Mac fans? Maybe they're pissed off because they got duped into a paying to much for inferior hardware and a plethora of software with more vendor lock-in than even Microsoft is able to manage.
Unix bitches! You know the Enterprise computer runs on a linux kernel cluster. You know it.
@Amar7605 :: Mhmm yep, Gomez is the only reason to watch this. I didnt even look at the title, I just saw her in the screen shot thumbnail and clicked.
Actually a lot of real life engineers were inspired by Star Trek. Trek created ideas and Engineers saw them and through how to really do them. The guy who created QuickTime was one of them, inspired by Mr. Data's computer-based music collection. WIlliam Shtner did a documentary on this. Also Cell Phone designers were inspired by Original Series communicators, Motorola's "Star Tac" flip phones were close in profile to them.
What's funny is that the writing tools they use in Star Trek are called PADDs, and they concept of them have been using ever since the 1980's. Apple is either 26 years behind... or... centuries.. behind.. being... ahead...
@AisuSeijin Star Trek: The Next Generation came out in 1987. The original series (1966) did NOT have an iPad-style device. So, homeboy, it looks like YOU are the one who needs to brush up on their math!
@mrbunnylamakins Mobile phones, video phones, web cams, and mini-TVs? And probably floppy disks and memory sticks. And that Wii remote thing that Spock uses in The Cage.
Dislike. handheld computers with just a screen for control have been concived of much longer than apple's concept, and even TNG, all the way back to the original star trek and forbidden planet.

Apple never really invented anything, they just made more refined forms of already available products.

athompson7 5 months ago
@athompson7 Um, yes it did. Just search for PADD and ToS or Original Series. They had a PADD device. It was used quite often.
AisuSeijin 5 months ago
@athompson7 Actually, they did. The props were primitive and you never got a good look at the screen, but they had handheld computer devices in TOS.

wrong title" the truth is: Apple has stolen. The iPad is NOT an Apple idea, it is a logical step - and Apple was not the first.
