  • Pre pretty much destroyed the field in the 2000m-10,000m and ran like I never seen anyone run with their heart on their sleeve and with agression

  • pre did not have the fast enough kick for the mile finish....he simply ran 3 miles in the in the 4:34 4:30 range for the first 2 miles and ran a 4minute or less last mile..your milers the years after Pre got to 3:40-3:50 range

  • @runwithkyrstin2002 Stfu. His records are much better and are the world record also.

  • this is good

  • The turns are too tight for a 400 meter track.

  • And I thought my 3 laps to a mile track was short, yikes!

  • Shitty track, but nice run to both. I could only break a 5 minute mile, 4:57-Victor Sokolovski.

  • definatly not 400 meter track

  • My personal best was just shy of a sub 1 minute mile.

  • Hey buddy y don't u fuck off u fat ass hole

  • @zackfilms13 From now on, every time I hear "Zach Gross," I'm gonna think of some lonely gay kid getting pissed off over youtube comments. Doesn't bode well for your reputation.

  • @nhbmartialarts

I'm zack gross I'm ranked #1 in California right now for freshman boys. If you wanna run sub 5, open ur stride on the curves and double ur stride on the straights. My mile right now is 4:31 as a freshman in hs. Just keep working hard with ur breathing and resistance

  • @zackfilms13 we don't care

  • @zackfilms13 hey fellah. appreciate your times being a track athlete too. but sayin that wont make any body better, even if they did care

  • "biggest physical challenges facing the human race"? i do it everyday in under 4 minutes

  • @zippo7224 no you dont your probably fat

  • @zippo7224 i seriously doubt that (if you were being sarcastic i apologize)

  • @zippo7224

what is your name and post some of your times

  • @zippo7224 dude you would be in college running for a d 1 school if you ran under 4 steve prephaintaine ran a 357 and set the world record you just make yourself look dumb because thats be biggest challenge ever

  • @therealmarkize101 my coach ran a 3:50 in college, nbd. Pre was mainly a 10k/5k runner.

  • @h00eboy Bullshit. He'd be in the top 100 fastest times ever.

  • @therealmarkize101 Steve Prefontaine never had a world record

  • @runnerman550 He owned every (8) American record between 2,000 and 10,000 meters and between two miles and six miles. He also held eight collegiate records while at Oregon, with his three-mile (12:53.4) and six-mile (27:09.4) still standing. During his career, he broke his own or other American records 14 different times, broke the four-minute barrier nine times, ran 25 two-mile races under 8:40 and 10 5K races faster than 13:30

  • @runwithkyrstin2002 I didn't say he wasn't a good runner. I said he never had a world record.

  • How do you train for the four minute mile. I weigh 170 pounds and and 33 years old. I want to break the five minute mile. I Know I can do it with some training. Any tips from you guys. This is good footage!

  • these guys are good runners... they should have done this on a better track

  • BERNARD LAGAT IS KING OF MILE

  • @11tobiobito hicham.

  • @SamShackleford1 no f***ing way lol

  • Let's see. A 330 meter track. That's 70 meters shy per lap or 280 meters. Can we agree, 200 meters for the front runner is about 30 seconds and the last 80 meters approximately 10 seconds. So add 40 seconds to his 3:59 and it's a 4:39. Respectable. Then consider the track surface. Seemed to be some sort of dirt compound by the way the frontrunner fell. So maybe 4:25 or so. Still no sub 4 mile, but a nice effort by both runners.

  • Not a full track obviously, but still above average, I'd say it's like a 4:20. Pretty damn good, but not as epic as sub 4

  • Comment removed

  • 333 meters to be exact. nice try.

  • there is no way in hell thats is a full length 400 meter track

  • that look like my school track. 5 laps to a mile

  • It's a 330 yard track! They're running closer to a 5 minute mile than a 4 minute mile, LOL!

  • Proof?

It seems to be full-length/standard 400m.

  • Proof? Why do you think it 'seems to be a full-length track'? Base on what, that you didn't know many junior and senior high schools have shorter tracks? I've run on many short tracks, it's not that strange at all.

Anyways, go through all the posts and you will find that someone identified the ACTUAL school, and yes, indeed, it is a 330 yard track, just as me and all knowledgeable runners have been saying about this video from the beginning.

  • great going chaps, I don't think people realise what it takes to run sub 4!

  • It's a 330 track not 400, its 70 short,they'd need to run another 280 to run a complete mile

  • That looks like a 300 m track like the one at my school. I'm not sure though.

  • there pace was just awful, they ran way too hard in the begining, they had a good firt half mile but the dropped 20 secs in the last half mile

  • LOl... Its not legit your not fooling anyone... my friend has an outdoor track at his skool and he told me its like 10 meters short... and u guys werent even running fast enough to run a 4 min mile... ud look like if uwere going 90 percent almost a sprint... or (a very fast pase) I should say... So this definetly was not a 4 min mile... measure the track and I bet u its not 400 m

  • run fat boy run what kind of name is that anyway oncearunner what are you to fat now to run

  • y is da camera man breathing hard

  • wow the heavy breathing is realllllllly creepy..........

  • ahahah thats not a 400 meter track?

  • how in the world can u assure that??

  • i dnt know if i believe it or not but thtat wuz a good run

  • At least it's better than the track at my school. loldirt.

  • why dont u ppl go to a official track, where theres numbers on the floor...

  • obviously a short track.

  • This has to be legit cause they fit a full size football field in the middle.....although the turns do look like there cut a little tight. Its' defiinatley not over 5mins though.

  • illegal*

  • juat becuase its gravel doesnt mean its illegal. =)

  • Ya, it's harder to run on gravel.

  • the turns at the end of field are legal meaning they dont go out wide enough even though it may look like a track it aint a full miles

  • thats legit man...i timed it myself

  • they also apear to go around the blind turn in 10 seconds....that is the fastest...100 metes in most states..

  • they do look like good runners but there is no way it was a 4 minute mile because it was cinder track, it was practice, the track could be short and they look like high school kids...very few high school kids have ever broken 4.

  • The vid looks legit but it looks like the turns are short on the track. Plus these guys aren't moving nearly fast enough.

  • Not a 4 min. mile, they weren't moving fast enough.

    But nice form.

  • im sorry but thats not a real 4 minute mile. no way jose.

  • You can't even see the start/finish line. If my coach ever brings me to a track like that I'll press charges.

  • st. joseph's track in buffalo... no editing, just a short track, about 345m.

these blokes are still fast though.

  • Yo I timed it, its legit but my only wonder is...how the fuck do you run a sub 4 mile on a track like that and with flats. I run a 1:50 half mile and iv run on a track like that the fastest I had run was like 1:59-2:00 no way these guys ran under 4. Somethings not right haha.

  • That track just doesn't seem quite right to me.

  • Dude my fastest was a 5:07 I set all my fastest times on the same track on the same day (1600, 800, 3200). But way to cut it close I thought there were going to be 400 runners helping. Also that guy at the 200 markers helps alot

  • Wow wow, this isn't a 4:00 minue mile, but not a 6:00 min either..I would say in between..5:00-5:20

  • I'm guessing it was actually more around 4:10- 4:25.

  • nope, it was short by 280 meters, so its like literally a 5 minute mile, nothing special, it might've been 4:55 or something but not great.

  • wow, i hate the mile i ran a pathetic 5:07, im gonna do it again saturday and break 4:50, im so pissed. i just dont get how to run the mile, im a 5-10k runner.

  • yes it is a completly different effort... you can be good at a 5k and bad at the mile... it is a more anaerobic effort

  • that is edited look at there legs

  • idk the track could be be right because 58 for 400 on the first lap i mean idk they did run like a 30 second 200 but it could be legit. a 3:59 is fast though

  • i can sorta believe that they ran a sub 5 pace but not sub 4..... that track doesn't seem rite

  • what's not right about it? I mean yeah but look at the surrounds, like a track I ran on had nothing around it so it looked massive. Another one was conceiled so i looked small.

  • howdd that kid on top of the field goal? lol

  • i love you

  • yeah based on pace that looks closer to a 5:36

    I estimate

  • fuckk dude thats amzaing. i am 11 and i run a 5:50 and i know this guy whos gonna try to train me and he runs a 4:30 and i think thats insane but this is just crazy. great job

  • im sure its legit

  • wow i doubt that he ran a sub 4 min...but how old are they?

im only 15 years old and i only can run a 4:50 mile.

  • im 14 and i run a 4:50 also

  • Nice 6 min mile there

  • It doesnt look like sub 4 to me.

The track should be shorter than 400 meters.

But they still are running good.

  • you should have put a timer to the camera so you can prove those splits. And by the way, there's NO way that track's legit.

  • OK, tell truth. How long is that track, really? No way that guy ran a 4:00 mile. Based on their stride and pace they look like their running closer to 5:00 mile pace. Not that it's slow, but you're claiming he ran a 4:00 mile, and that makes you (and him) look stupid. Any runner who watches this can see he's not a 4:00 miler.

  • i agree they didnt run a 4 min mile but i think the track is legal if its the right length... good comment.

  • So, when are you going to run the last 800m?

  • Check out a high schooler running a 4 minute mile. Type in German Fernandez mile on youtube.

  • is this a practical joke?

  • probably one of the shittiest tracks i've ever seen

  • my school's is worse

  • hell yea

  • i didnt think that it looked fast enough

  • This is short!!!

  • I timed the bend and it took 11.5 seconds for them to run (well short), i think their running about 70 sec per 400m pace - definately not 60. Its still good tho, and its a shit track, Keep at it!

  • too slow to be sub 4. looks to be a sub 4 1200 if its even that long.

  • that looks like a 330 track to me >_>

  • are they even wearing spikes? this is the shittiest track i've ever seen

  • This isn't 1600 meters no way.

  • A true mile isn't 1600m, it is 1609.344m. Just so everyone knows. Also, these guys are running good, but it isn't a mile. Short track.

  • the turns are so small not a 400 meter track

  • shut up racketer yes he did run for 3 minutes and 59 seconds but no he did not run a full 1600 meters, there is no way some unknown runner is going to break 4 without anybody pacing him

  • the stride rate and length are not even close to what they should be for a sub 4 pace.

  • these guys aren't slow by any means... but there's no way that was a 400m track. the pace was too slow. a teammate of mine runs around a 4:15 give or take and his pace is faster than that.

  • Its like no one really cares, they're just standing there. They know its no really sub4. Being a college runner, I see running every day...it looked to be a 4:40pace at best.

  • If they ACTUALLY ran a mile in sub 4...don't you think their coaches would be a little bit more excited about it?

Besides, both kids just look damn slow, watch an ACTUAL 4-minute mile, real sub-4 guys are on a whole different level than these kids.

Not a bad pace...but not sub-4, not even close.

  • looks around 5:00 min pace to me.... around that give or take a few seconds

  • This track is DEFINITELY not 400 meters, the key is that the grass space between the goal posts and track's turns are much too small and the turns are not wide enough - I coach for a school with a similarly sized track and our mile races are 5 laps and change - get a bike and ride a lap - Plus name the runners - what did they run for XC this past Fall? Are they state champs? Did they run Foot Locker or NTN? Or a USATF meet?

  • your a fucking nerd with your races, get a LIFE!

  • and who the hell said that they were in high school moron, maybe theyre in college, you cant run footlocker if your in college you idiot!!

  • It's called a passion for the sport and for coaching. And I have a life, a very good one. I am sure these guys, HS or college, who cares, are good athletes, but faking someone doing a sub 4 mile is kind of insulting to those of us that have a clue. Best of luck to you in life.

  • it cant be real, look at how horrible their form is...no sub 4 min miler would have form like that

  • Great Video, I've watched it many times, I ran in college and only went 4:07, If these guys ran close to 4 minutes hats off, congrats. if this is bogus, again hats off for fooling people.,

  • This is the St. Joseph's track in Buffalo NY. It's NOT 400 meters its about 340m. Which makes this about a 4:40 mile.

You can check it out yourself on google maps if you really want.

  • Hahah. Either A.) the track is not 400 meters or B.) they were doing a 4 x 400 work out with 60 seconds rest in between hence the blind spot after every lap. Clever editing though.

  • No i watched it many times and have looked for that and there is definely no editing. I cant beilve how when someone achieves such greatness at a sub 4min mile people always gotta find somthing wrong with that!! THE EVIDENCE IS THERE! NO EDITING! CLEARLY A 400M TRACK! why can't u praise him for his achievement?

  • clearly you're an idiot and you assume that everyone is of equal intelligence. please explain how this is clearly a 400m track? i'm not aware of many 400m cinder tracks in my neck of the woods. the video hasnt been edited, but it's obvious that the track is short.

    case closed.

  • 3:59- on cinder- with wind (last lap in the mic). I call bovine excrement.

  • Wouldn't this be a news item if two guys went to a local track and broke a 4 minute mile. Comeon, only 15 to 20 Americans a year break 4 and two guys go to a local track and do it.

  • no one even congradulated him there just stadin there like faggets. i meen not a lot of people in the world can say they ran a sub 4.

  • Goodness, I run faster than these guys do!!! That was a rather slow mile! If it was just for kicks though, then it is funny haha! Good video for the most part though!

  • no u couldnt

  • man theseclowns ran like 4:40

  • no the first 1 ran 3.59 as i timed it when my watch u stupid fucking dumbass. and the second ran like 4.03. The fucking video isnt even 4.40m long. FUCKING RETARD.

  • Yea it's rather hard to sit on a field goal post and spin a full three sixty without falling off. That of course was the point of this video.....

  • Hahaha.....this track is not 400m. They are clearly not run sub 4 pace. More like 4:30 - 4:35

  • the track clearly is 400m

  • i also timed that race with my watch and the first person ran 3.59 and the second person ran 4.03. I think your just jealus.

  • Anyone who is reasonably knowledgeable about running should realize that this isn't a sub-4 minute mile. It looks more like these guys are running 4:30-4:40. If he really did run sub-4 on a cinder track by themselves then he must be one of the top runners in the world, probably capable of a sub-3:50 in a rabbited race over in Europe. If anyone did this we'd have heard about it

  • The track is clearly 400m and i timed with my watch and the first guy was 3.59. Mabey both of them are deadly runners and compete at elite level. But all i know is that one of them definely ran a sub 4min mile and the other came close. Anyone who denies this is a stupid fuck as the evidence is RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM!!! i dont know how people can say they ran 4.30-4.40 when the fucking video is right here. WHAT MORE FUCKING EVIDENCE DO YOU WANT! TIME IT U DUMB FUCK!

  • They mean 4:40 pace man. Yeah, he ran 3:59 for four laps on a short track. As a USATF certified coach and someone who has competed on cinder and rubberized tracks in the same season - cmurph17f is completely correct - he should be well down around 3:50 and any runner with that speed gets recognized.

  • loser, you don't know what your talking about, your probably a fatass that can't even run a mile under ten minutes, HA!

  • cameraman breathes so fucking loud

  • That's the wind dumbass.

  • no you can clearly hear the cameraman breathing in addition to the wind

  • That's pretty incredible on a cinder track in what looks more like a practice than a race. Who are these guys? Who do they run for? Anyone know?

  • Is it really so hard to turn left?

  • no, it's not hard to turn left. it's hard to run a mile in less than 4 minutes, jackass.

  • No duh, I was replying to the guy with the camera "jackass". He cuts out part of the run because for some reason he doesn't continue to turn left.

  • oh, my bad.

  • I'm hoping to break 4 by my Senior year.

Right now I'm a Sophomore and I'm running around 4:30.

    But this is amazing.

    The flawlessness...
