2001 Canes would destroy any other team in the history of college football. This was without a doubt the greatest defense ever to play college football.
hahaha yea i know, but i commented on this earlier saying this is the greatest ncaa team ever, and somebody said, wat about the 05 trojans..... they would get blown out by this team idk wtf he's talking about
The roster produced 38 NFL draft picks, including 17 first-round selections. Of those, 14 are current NFL starters and one is all but assured of a spot in the Hall of Fame
which is the H.O.F...Ithink theres a few...Andre Johnson...Ed Reed...If Willis McGahee ever gets back on track he could be one...Oh and thats riduclous 17 first round selections and 38 NFL picks thats CRAZY!!!
@MrJag21 i think the H.O.F ers would be ..edge..ed redd..and when its all said and done frank gore andre johnson reggie wayne and vince wilfork will have really good chances to join ..mcgahee would have but his injury really fucked him up....do u think devin hester would make it for kick returner?

perfection my ass. Damn near lost to boston while the closest the 95 huskers came to defeat was 14 points. 95 Huskers would have beat the fucking 01 canes to a bloody mass of humanity.
My God you have a Cane fetish! Lol- concentrate on your own team and quit going to Cane sites. Too funny. That last loss to the Canes must have really stung bad - move on my friend.
You must be smoking crack or something. Sure 95 NU's closest game was a 14 pt win... Too bad it was against a Washington State team that finished 3-8 that year. Fail. And last I checked if Ed Reed doesnt run that Int back for a TD, Miami STILL WINS.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
psh! '05 texas could have smoked em! USC was the best team to date during that time until texas came into the rose bowl and put a beating to them. '05 Texas is the best team yet!
r u serious? most of your nfl all-star's came from this 2001 national championship team. 05' texas barely beat USC in the ship and the only good players from that team are young, huff, mike griffin and aaron ross. they had a sick secondary, but that team was nothing compared to the 01 canes
This loser 95skers comments on every 2001 cane video talkin about how the 95 NU team would hav beat them. Nobody gives a crap the 95 NU team accept you. Get a life or time machine so you can live in the year 95 forever.
I would have loved to see either Texas or OU play Miami in the title game. Both teams had real strong defenses, and solid offenses as well. Texas had Cedric Benson, Roy Williams, Quentin Jammer, Chris Simms and Derrick Johnson. OU had their own Roy Williams, Rocky Calmus, T. Harris and Teddy Lehman. Either team would have given Miami a tougher matchup. Neb had no athletes all to test Miami that night.
A lot of teams that year had a rose bowl shot at the end of that year. First nebraska before the CU loss, then OUbut they lost to OK State, Then Texas and Florida had a chance, then they lost on the same day to Colorado and Tenn. Then Tenn was the team to meet the U, but Lsu beat them in sec title game. So then nebraska was able to squeak by Oregon. It was a huge mess that year.
That's right. Man I was rooting for Florida so bad that year. That's when Rex Grossman was sicc. Travis Henry ran all over their D. That's why they lost also the prowler defense and Rex's size alot of passes were tipped. Thanks for the reply!
And you forgot about Jonathan Vilma ,Antrell Rolle ,Devin Hester Jermy shockey Andre Johnson Roscoe Parrish Vincent Wilfork Phillip Buccahan and D.J Willaims By far the greatset collage football team of all timeDamm they were loaded
the list of stud Miami players is ridiculous: Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Willis Mcgahee, Frank Gore, Clinton Portis, Sean Taylor, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow, Andre Johnson, Santana Moss, Warren Sapp, Jonathan Vilma, Edgerin James, Michael Irvin, the list goes on and on. It's insane.
I'm a UF fan, but will admit this team has to be the best ever... maybe second best. But I could only think of a couple teams that could even make a case of being better than the '01 Canes. (1995 Nebraska, 1975 Nebraska... and the Oklahoma team that won 47 straight I believe)
Good point. You could also say that the physicality of the Canes would overpower a simple offense. I think the only team that would challenge Miami is the 95 Huskers.
95 NU offense same as 01? Please?? 01 was a one man show, no threat of passing game, no talent at rb, and a piss poor o line compared to 95. Knowing all that, and knowing that all they had to do in 01 was stop Crocuh, they 01 Canes D still gave up 200 yds rushing knowing what was coming. If, that is Frazier, Phillips, Green anc CO behind a nasty, physical group of future NFL o lineman 01 Canes D gets throttled. Frazier was a efficient passer in this offense, Crouch sucked.
how can u say crouch sucked ?!?!?! ur takin a shit on an NU player to make 01 miami not look as good, he won the heisman and was drafted 1st overall, im pretty sure he didnt "suck"
If you had read closer you would see that my statement that Crouch "sucked" was in terms of his passing abilities and the stats bear that out. He had more ints than td's in 01.He was a fantastic operator of the option offense and a gifted runner, but he wasn't a passer to any degree that Frazier was and Frazier was as good or better than Crouch at running the option. Frazier also had a great o line, rb's and defense. Crouch wasn't anything close to the number 1 OVERALL pick in the draft.
everyone always dissing us canes. ANd something for fsu fans..... we have probaly had 10 better running backs than your #1 runningback! 10 better recievers 2! I mean the acc was terrible and still is terrible. that big east was tough back then. so dont diss us out of jealousy
i feel u on that but think about this, would u rather have a guy on ur team win the heisman, or win a national championship as a team? i think even dorsey would take the NC over the heisman
Completely unrelated, but I think the FSU/Miami rivalry really lost something when the 'Canes moved to the ACC.
To me, the 3-team rivalry used to be about conference pride as much as it was about team pride. When Miami, FSU, and Florida played each other in any combination, it used to be about Big East v. ACC v. SEC.
I dunno, something's missing now. The ACC doesn't feel like home, at least not the way the Big East did.
in my opinion ed reed. probably the best on field leader in the schools history, making a tackle or around the ball every play had amazing perifial vision and great reflexes (he had 9 picks i believe) and i think the most important part is that he played till the whistle on every play, (took 3 of those picks back for TD's)not to mention he was probably the smartest defensive player the school has ever seen
I would've loved to see this team play the '05 Texas team and see Vince Young try to run against this defense. Young would've been a paraplegic by halftime
I got a kick out of that little ESPN poll they ran a couple years back when they were all over USC's balls proclaiming how great they were. USC came up against 2001 Miami and the vote was a landslide in Miami's favor LMFAO. Nice to see someone had some sense, until they voted 1995 Nebraska the greatest team ever. The 2001 Miami team would have drilled that team like they did the 2001 Nebraska team for the national title.
1. Clinton Portis 2. Frank Gore 3. Willis McGahee 4. Najeh Davenport
If that isn't enough, that team had SIXTEEN, NFL 1st round draft picks on that roster. They outscored the opponents 512-117, an average of 32.9 points per game. They beat #14 Syracuse 59-0, #12 Washington 65-7, #6 Florida State 49-27 at FSU, ending their 54 game home winning streak. They crushed Penn State at PSU, leading 30-0 at halftime and punked the Huskers, leading 34-0 at half.
Maybe its time to get some new material. Maybe Miami should have played 8 SIX-loss teams like '95 Nebraska did. Maybe then it would have been easier to score more TD's.
LMAO! "Almost Lost"? Last time I checked Miami was leading both the games your referring to. Against BC, If Reed doesnt run that pick back for a touchdown, we still win. Against VT, special teams (Beamer ball) and two late touchdowns made the score look alot closer than the game actually was.
2001 'Canes = Greatest College Football Team Ever!
You do realize that 94 Miami had the best defense in the country that year right. Good thing games are longer then 30 min. 94 NU wore down that defense and owned them in the 4th quarter with that predictable offense. I will say this though 01 Miami was good no doubt, but I'll never believe they could beat 95 NU. Just as u feel the same way vice versa. We'll never really know anyway but it is fun 2 discuss.
Yes I am aware. But the reason that Nebraska was able to wear down the UM D in the 4th was because Frank Costa was having trouble keeping the offense on the field. That same problem wouldn't exist with Dorsey and Co. in 2001. The '01 defense was just as tough as '94 except they also had the ability to score. '01 Miami had the #1 Pass Defense, #1 Scoring Defense, and #2 Run Defense!
So your saying in your "real world" that 95 NU and 1 NU are pretty much the same? Hmm lets see i dont remember 95 NU getting thrashed by Colorado that year and not winning the Big 8 then backing their way into a title game because 5 teams above them all choked. Also offensively and defensively the talent on 95 was ALOT better then 01 NU. But other then that their practically the same team LMAO yeah right.
What the hell are you talking about? Did you read me say '01 NU and '95 NU were the same? Instead '01 NU did run the same offensive structure as '95 NU with the heisman trophy winner (E. Crouch) and the Big 12 leading rusher (D. Diedrich). So they were a good team. But still looked like boys playing against men. Its amazing to watch NU fans try and downplay '01 NU to preserve the '95 team. But aside from A Green, that same '95 NU team almost lost to UM in '94 trailing 17-7 at the Half.
Same offense yes, same type of players at all positions nope. Yeah since I actually watched both teams play and am a Husker fan i can say 95 NU was by far a superior team to 01 NU.
Well for the record I dont believe '01 NU = '95 NU. But the result would have been the same, a loss for NU maybe with a better looking score. But there was no way that Nebraska's D would've stopped Miami's Potent Balanced offense. And wIth a linebacker Corps consisting of Jonathan Vilma, DJ. Williams and Chris Campbell (R.I.P.) NU's bread and butter (The predictable option) wouldve been stuffed all night!
This team is by far the best college football team to ever step on the field. And I am an FSU fan admitting that. That team destroyed everyone in their path with only one close game. They obliterated my Noles in Doak Campbell ending the longest home winning streak in the nation like it was nothing, destroyed Nebraska for the national title, just killed everyone. Mad props to that team, they are the best ever.
andre johnson is better than moss and wayne i think hes the most talented reciever in the NFL he just doesnt have a great QB like randy moss, TO, Wayne, and chad johnson
Youre right, They both graduated in 2000. The 2000 Hurricanes Team MIGHT have even been better than the 2001 squad. Imagine the same 2001 Roster + Santana Moss + Dan Morgan + Al Blades + Reggie Wayne + James Jackson + Leonard Myers + Andre King + Damione Lewis.
If the UW game lasts :45 seconds longer, then the 2000 Canes are undefeated and National Champions.
Yep, the 2000 team should have gone undefeated blowing that game to Washington. They went perfect in 2001 and should have been undefeated in 2002 as well, blowing that game against Ohio State (with the help of a very questionable pass interference call in the end zone mind you). They could have very easily run the table 3 years in a row. Of course my Noles helped you in 2000, missing another damn kick to win the game so it all evens out.
I dont know about that and Im a HUGE fan of Santana (I Still have his #6 Jersey). But Andre Johnson is Micheal Irvin reincarnated. Possibly one of the Greatest MIami WR Ever!
ATTENTION MIAMI FANS, ATTENTION MIAMI FANS, U really don't think it gets hot and humid in Nebraska in late August and September r u fucking kidding me, really? Temperatures on the field during these months can reach 110 degrees plus don't tell me NU can't play in the heat. LMFAO.
and about vt and bc, idk wat happened vs VT but the BC game was cold and windy as hell, dorsey threw 4 picks. even though u probly wont admit it u should know that if u take a team mostly from miami and put them in that weather, they wont do as well as expected. example imagine taking a team from like nebraska, sendin them to a place like LA or dow here in miami against a team from the area on a 90+ degree day with humidity. once again u might not admit but the area team would kill
WHAT? Nebraska has played IN MIAMI agasint Miami many times. It was 98 degrees today here with nearly 90% humidity, and we dont get the nice breeze of the ocean like you do there. How about dry ass, dusty wind sometimes blowing 35 MP with this heat and humidity. Its the mid west here we get it all! Heat, Wind, Snow, Ice, Sleet and play football in it. Wind, snow and ice a big reason NU has relied on ground game for years. it's football, weather doesnt matter.

speed kills its as simple as that eric crouch got sawed in half against tommie frazier would to. when kansas is the 10th best team in the country that tells me right there nebraska didn't have a lot of competetion. miami was pretty much a pro team they hae pro bowl guys all over the field. there is a lot of more quality teams now. if nebraska would try to run that option outside u are playing right into miami's speed. speed kills its as simple as that
Well lets see in your own words u just said " When Kansas is the 10th best eam in the country then that tells u Nebraska had no competion" LMFAO. But then u go and say this "Their is alot more quality teams now." LOL really did u see where Kansas finished this year in the top 10 so which is it? I don't care what round anybody went in the NFL that doesn't matter at all in college. 95 NU had no close games, ONLY trailed the entire 95 season for a little over 11 min. Can 01 Miami say that? Fuck no.
95 NU wouldnt have to run option on 01 Canes. You act as if option play is only running play NU ever ran. Little lesson for you on the running game. NU ran iso, toss plays, straight handoffs, counters, counter traps, stretch plays, power sweeps, draws, then they hit you with QB running plays for Frazier and then they might hit you with option L or R with Frazier, Phillips and Green. Who you going to stop? 01 BC avg almost 4 yards a carry running very basic running game at 01 Canes. 95 Skers!
Oh really, Well Ahman has nearly 9000 yards rushing and neither Portis, Mcgahee or Gore are within 1000 yards of him. And dont tell me that "Well, A Greeen was in NFL long before either of them." A Green didnt get significant carries until 2000 and wasnt the feature back until 2001 so its pretty clear who the better back is. A Green.
thats two whole years ahead of portis, three ahead of mcgahee, and like four or five ahead of gore (him and mcgahee are playin through injuries) they r ALL gonna catch him. not within 1000 yards!?!?!?! portis will reach that by the end of next year he wont even need both seasons.
Doesnt diminish any of Ahmans career. Ahman has been a great NFl back. Has either Portis, Mcgahee or Gore ran for 1846 yards in a season? NO, and they never will. If not for an idiot coach in Seattle and barring some injuries Ahamn is probably a 12000 yard back! Get back to me when either of those guys puts up 1800 plus rushing yards in a season.
95 NU would destroy, embarrass, and dismantle 01 Canes just like they did everyone else. Let me tell you what happens when all those AA and high picks on UM D face 95 NU O. They get trucked and steamrolled by five future long term NFL lineman that were starters, and following them you have Frazier, Phillips, Green, and Mackovicka killing LB's. Hard to tackle when your flat on your ass with cleat marks on your chest. Then we throw a defense at you with 2 deep roster full off NFL talent!
Already did that on other video. Go check Miami video GOAT video. This claim Miami fans love to make regarding 01 being so much more talented than 95 is baseless. 01 Nu yes, big reason why UM won that game. Big time and I mean big time talent gap between 01 NU and 95 NU. 01 NU no more than 7 players that went on to play in NFL. 95 Had nearly 30 and 3/4 of those guys were long time starters. Go check it out on your own if you want names. DO SOME RESEARCH!
ed reed (hof) jeremy shockey (hof) sean taylor (woulda been hof)
andre johnson jon vilma frank gore willis mcgahee clinton portis vince wilfork kellen winslow and roscoe parrish (mainly due to his returning skills) all have a chance at hof but have more to acomplish
phil buchannon dj williams mike rumph antrel rolle vernon carey and bryant mckinnie were all solid players but not hof
My god, not everyone that passes through the Miami is HOF material. Many will put together nice careers, but practically everyone HOF eligible? Get real! Lets keep this what it really is. Debate about two football teams not individual accomplishments. LEt me ask you this. What happened to all those AA, 1st rounders, and as you say possible NFL HOF when they played 01 BC and VT? Where were they?
ok dude, ive got2 give it 2 u that 4 once u were right about sumthin, we shouldn be debating individual accomplishments. however, the first 2 in my top catagory r makin hof and 21 woulda. the second catagory of people with the way their carrers have gone DO have a chance even though as much as i wish they would all make its most likely not going 2 happen. i took another look at my own list and i have 2 correct myself about roscoe parrish, even though hes an excellent player hes not hof material
21 make the HOF from one freaking team?OMG dude, I know you're a Miami fan, but have a little bit of objectivity. So, I ask you again. Where were all these AA, 1st round picks and high picks agaisnt BC and VT. Since ALL UM supporters use these AA, 1st rounders and in their mind and yours future NFL HOF players as the primary reason they would beat 95 NU. It's only logical to ask where were they when 01 UM struggled to beat two very avg 4 loss teams in BC and VT? Where were they? what happened?
That 01 NU offensive line that Wilfork, Joseph, Mcdougal and co faced was a freakin joke compared to 95. One o lineman went to NFL and he was a flop after 3 years. 95 o line sent 5-6 guys to NFL most with nice careers. A Graham, A Taylor, C. Dishman, A. Treu, Zatechka, RB A Green, L. Phillips, J, Mackovicka, TE S. Jackson. Oh, and I could include Frazier if not for injuries and Berringer if not for his death. So, yes STEAMROLL. Remember UM greats Sapp and Lewis on knees in 94. I DO! STEAMROLLED!
Oh ok, I will give you Ed Reed and possibly S. Taylor RIP. Taylor great player yes, just can never tell how rest of career would go, just like no one would have thought he would be shot and killed. Again RIP Sean Taylor
u dont think shockey will make it? hes been in the nfl i think 7 years and has 4 pro bowls (same as ed reed) and had 5 or more touchdowns in the past 4 years. and ok, i will admit i was wrong bout the weather thing i didnt realize it gets so hot in nebraska. But also like u said "its the midwest we get it all" well this is miami we dont and playing in 40> degree weather with swirling winds is hard when we dont even get that in the winter
Sure, I like Shockey. Great player and all. Just have to see how rest of career turns out. He should do really well in the Saints system. The Saints could be scary good on offense with Shockey to open the deep middle of the field for the passing game. Bush and McCallister will benefit from that as will open up more underneath passing route and open some holes in running game.
Mike Brown wasnt even on 95 team! Wistrom, J. Peter AA DT if not for neck injuries is still playing in NFl. C. Peter DT 5-6 yrs i NFL. M. Rucker, 9 year starter for Panthers on one of the best D lines, J. Tomich DE 5 yrs in NFL with Saints and Packers. D. Colman 5 yr NFL LB with Giants and Browns, J. Foreman 7-8 starting MLB for Bills, Texans and now with Niners. M. Minter just retired 10 yr starter at safety for Panthers, T. Veland 5 yr NFL safety, two years starting next to M. Minter.
ok all u nebraska fans can talk about is how the 95 huskers would beat the 01 canes which is bullshit but that doesnt even matter, all that matters is that we BEAT THE FUCK outta the 01 huskers hahaha
oh btw, does nebraska have anyone anygood in the nfl? let me no
You can add Mike Minter, Mike Rucker, Aaron Graham, Joel Mackovicka, Chris Dishman, Jay Foreman, Eric Warfield, Tyrone Williams, Sheldon Jackson, Tony Veland, Correl Buckhalter, Demorrio Williams. The first 10 of these guys were from the 95 team that were regular contributors to 95 team and went to NFl. AND each of these guys were long term starters in the NFL!!
who exactly did nebraska beat that year college football is different now that was 12 years ago, did any of those nebraska players do anything in the pro besides lawrence phillips dragging his girlfriend down the flight of stairs. Come on nebraska wouldn't be able to run against these guys tommie frazier would have gotten sawed in half just like eric crouch did
thank you for having some sense especially for a gator (no offense). To the guy who claims differently we dont have to defend the greatest team in the history of college football.
95 NU beat #8 Kansas State 49-25, #7 Colorado 44-21, #10 Kansas 41-3 and #2 Florida 62-24. Plese someone explain how athletes are better today then 10 to 20 years ago, Shit there's alot of great players from the 80's and 90's. I.E. Joe Montana, Bo Jackson, Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders, John Elway. Yeah Yeah Yeah heard that same shit about Miami in 94 and Florida in 95. Their D's are to fast for the option right. U of all people Gatorgal should remember Frazier.
just take a look at how many players on this defense are now the elite top-tier in the NFL. Everyone on this defense is either as fast or faster than crouch. that team was garbage; in fact it was more so the Eric Crouch show than anything else. not a team at all.
First of all usc barely beat bad teams, like stanford, va tech, ucla, california, oregon st, miami didn't do that they beat in back to back weeks 2 top 10 teams 124-14 which is a record dont even bring usc up in comparing usc to this team
Miami only beat 1 top 10 team all year NU. Please look shit up before u run your mouth. 95 Huskers would of destroyed this team like they did to everyone they played, unlike Miami who barely beat to two 8-4 teams that year Boston College and Va Tech.
you can't fault miami for beating the @#$% out of teams (syracuse 59 - 0, washington 65 - 7) so badly they were dropped significantly in the rankings.
the miami defense would have eaten that outdated option alive, just like they did in the 2001 rose bowl. 34 - 0 at half. mercy in the second half.
They said that same shit when NU played Miami in 94 and Florida in 95, and i know 94 Miami didnt have a crappy D. They had Sapp and Lewis on that D and we still beat em at home. It takes athlete's to run the option plain and simple NU only had Crouch as an offensive threat in 01, once u stop him the rest is easy. Not the case in 95 with Phillps, Ahman, and Frazier running the ball. What good is first round receivers when your QB is on his back or running for his life.
whats the songs name at the end... is it miami boys? i hope i donmt sound stupid haha

It was a huge mess that year.
ashbyave 2 years ago
That's right. Man I was rooting for Florida so bad that year. That's when Rex Grossman was sicc. Travis Henry ran all over their D. That's why they lost also the prowler defense and Rex's size alot of passes were tipped. Thanks for the reply!

I'm a UF fan, but will admit this team has to be the best ever... maybe second best. But I could only think of a couple teams that could even make a case of being better than the '01 Canes. (1995 Nebraska, 1975 Nebraska... and the Oklahoma team that won 47 straight I believe)
ShowtimeSpicer 3 years ago 2
well u can count out 75 nebraska and 55-59 OU, size and speed of 01 canes would be too much
colum4469 3 years ago
Good point. You could also say that the physicality of the Canes would overpower a simple offense. I think the only team that would challenge Miami is the 95 Huskers.
ShowtimeSpicer 3 years ago
the canes KILLED the same offense the 95 huskers ran in 2001 the score @ the half was 34-0 01 canes > 95 huskers
colum4469 3 years ago
95 NU offense same as 01? Please?? 01 was a one man show, no threat of passing game, no talent at rb, and a piss poor o line compared to 95. Knowing all that, and knowing that all they had to do in 01 was stop Crocuh, they 01 Canes D still gave up 200 yds rushing knowing what was coming. If, that is Frazier, Phillips, Green anc CO behind a nasty, physical group of future NFL o lineman 01 Canes D gets throttled. Frazier was a efficient passer in this offense, Crouch sucked.
95skersbestever 2 years ago
how can u say crouch sucked ?!?!?! ur takin a shit on an NU player to make 01 miami not look as good, he won the heisman and was drafted 1st overall, im pretty sure he didnt "suck"
colum4469 2 years ago
If you had read closer you would see that my statement that Crouch "sucked" was in terms of his passing abilities and the stats bear that out. He had more ints than td's in 01.He was a fantastic operator of the option offense and a gifted runner, but he wasn't a passer to any degree that Frazier was and Frazier was as good or better than Crouch at running the option. Frazier also had a great o line, rb's and defense. Crouch wasn't anything close to the number 1 OVERALL pick in the draft.

colum4469 3 years ago

Comparing 1995 NU to 2001 NU is like comparing night and day. 1995 NU owns all.
Krobb350 3 years ago
2001 Miami depth chart at tailback:

"Comparing 1995 NU to 2001 NU is like comparing night and day. 1995 NU owns all."- Krobb350
Not here in the real world. Miami had a better, more BALANCED offense, and BY FAR a better defense. '01 Miami Pwns '95 NU.
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago
How may touchdowns did that balanced offense score against a weak 8-4 Boston College team? Oh yeah know i remember 1 lol thats pretty sad.
Krobb350 3 years ago
Maybe its time to get some new material. Maybe Miami should have played 8 SIX-loss teams like '95 Nebraska did. Maybe then it would have been easier to score more TD's.
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago
Maybe 95 NU should of barely beat to average 8-4 teams. Then maybe ud consider them the G.O.A.T. LMAO Tom Osborne > Larry Coker. 95 NU OWNS ALL.
Krobb350 3 years ago
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago
You do realize that 94 Miami had the best defense in the country that year right. Good thing games are longer then 30 min. 94 NU wore down that defense and owned them in the 4th quarter with that predictable offense. I will say this though 01 Miami was good no doubt, but I'll never believe they could beat 95 NU. Just as u feel the same way vice versa. We'll never really know anyway but it is fun 2 discuss.
Krobb350 3 years ago
Yes I am aware. But the reason that Nebraska was able to wear down the UM D in the 4th was because Frank Costa was having trouble keeping the offense on the field. That same problem wouldn't exist with Dorsey and Co. in 2001. The '01 defense was just as tough as '94 except they also had the ability to score. '01 Miami had the #1 Pass Defense, #1 Scoring Defense, and #2 Run Defense!
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago
yea miami had the best D in the country but i think any football fan would agree 01D > 94D
colum4469 3 years ago
So your saying in your "real world" that 95 NU and 1 NU are pretty much the same? Hmm lets see i dont remember 95 NU getting thrashed by Colorado that year and not winning the Big 8 then backing their way into a title game because 5 teams above them all choked. Also offensively and defensively the talent on 95 was ALOT better then 01 NU. But other then that their practically the same team LMAO yeah right.
Krobb350 3 years ago
What the hell are you talking about? Did you read me say '01 NU and '95 NU were the same? Instead '01 NU did run the same offensive structure as '95 NU with the heisman trophy winner (E. Crouch) and the Big 12 leading rusher (D. Diedrich). So they were a good team. But still looked like boys playing against men. Its amazing to watch NU fans try and downplay '01 NU to preserve the '95 team. But aside from A Green, that same '95 NU team almost lost to UM in '94 trailing 17-7 at the Half.
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago
Same offense yes, same type of players at all positions nope. Yeah since I actually watched both teams play and am a Husker fan i can say 95 NU was by far a superior team to 01 NU.
Krobb350 3 years ago
Well for the record I dont believe '01 NU = '95 NU. But the result would have been the same, a loss for NU maybe with a better looking score. But there was no way that Nebraska's D would've stopped Miami's Potent Balanced offense. And wIth a linebacker Corps consisting of Jonathan Vilma, DJ. Williams and Chris Campbell (R.I.P.) NU's bread and butter (The predictable option) wouldve been stuffed all night!
'01 Canes > '95 Skers
01CanesrdGOAT 3 years ago
This team is by far the best college football team to ever step on the field. And I am an FSU fan admitting that. That team destroyed everyone in their path with only one close game. They obliterated my Noles in Doak Campbell ending the longest home winning streak in the nation like it was nothing, destroyed Nebraska for the national title, just killed everyone. Mad props to that team, they are the best ever.

Kenshin851 3 years ago

LMFAO.
Krobb350 3 years ago
that of course is asuming the teams r close talentwise
colum4469 3 years ago
and about vt and bc, idk wat happened vs VT but the BC game was cold and windy as hell, dorsey threw 4 picks. even though u probly wont admit it u should know that if u take a team mostly from miami and put them in that weather, they wont do as well as expected. example imagine taking a team from like nebraska, sendin them to a place like LA or dow here in miami against a team from the area on a 90+ degree day with humidity. once again u might not admit but the area team would kill
colum4469 3 years ago
Wind, snow and ice a big reason NU has relied on ground game for years. it's football, weather doesnt matter.

speed kills its as simple as that eric crouch got sawed in half against tommie frazier would to. when kansas is the 10th best team in the country that tells me right there nebraska didn't have a lot of competetion. miami was pretty much a pro team they hae pro bowl guys all over the field. there is a lot of more quality teams now. if nebraska would try to run that option outside u are playing right into miami's speed. speed kills its as simple as that
GaToRGaL1224 3 years ago
Well lets see in your own words u just said " When Kansas is the 10th best eam in the country then that tells u Nebraska had no competion" LMFAO. But then u go and say this "Their is alot more quality teams now." LOL really did u see where Kansas finished this year in the top 10 so which is it? I don't care what round anybody went in the NFL that doesn't matter at all in college. 95 NU had no close games, ONLY trailed the entire 95 season for a little over 11 min. Can 01 Miami say that? Fuck no.
Krobb350 3 years ago
95 NU wouldnt have to run option on 01 Canes. You act as if option play is only running play NU ever ran. Little lesson for you on the running game. NU ran iso, toss plays, straight handoffs, counters, counter traps, stretch plays, power sweeps, draws, then they hit you with QB running plays for Frazier and then they might hit you with option L or R with Frazier, Phillips and Green. Who you going to stop? 01 BC avg almost 4 yards a carry running very basic running game at 01 Canes. 95 Skers!
95skersbestever 3 years ago
he was great in college how didn't he do anything in the nfl
GaToRGaL1224 3 years ago
he was actually decent in the nfl 4 a while but not long enough gore portis and mcgahee are all better than he ever was
colum4469 3 years ago
Oh really, Well Ahman has nearly 9000 yards rushing and neither Portis, Mcgahee or Gore are within 1000 yards of him. And dont tell me that "Well, A Greeen was in NFL long before either of them." A Green didnt get significant carries until 2000 and wasnt the feature back until 2001 so its pretty clear who the better back is. A Green.
95skersbestever 3 years ago
"he got no significant carries till 2000",
thats two whole years ahead of portis, three ahead of mcgahee, and like four or five ahead of gore (him and mcgahee are playin through injuries) they r ALL gonna catch him. not within 1000 yards!?!?!?! portis will reach that by the end of next year he wont even need both seasons.
portis > green
mcgahee > green
gore > green
colum4469 3 years ago
Doesnt diminish any of Ahmans career. Ahman has been a great NFl back. Has either Portis, Mcgahee or Gore ran for 1846 yards in a season? NO, and they never will. If not for an idiot coach in Seattle and barring some injuries Ahamn is probably a 12000 yard back! Get back to me when either of those guys puts up 1800 plus rushing yards in a season.
95skersbestever 3 years ago
95 NU would destroy, embarrass, and dismantle 01 Canes just like they did everyone else. Let me tell you what happens when all those AA and high picks on UM D face 95 NU O. They get trucked and steamrolled by five future long term NFL lineman that were starters, and following them you have Frazier, Phillips, Green, and Mackovicka killing LB's. Hard to tackle when your flat on your ass with cleat marks on your chest. Then we throw a defense at you with 2 deep roster full off NFL talent!
95skersbestever 3 years ago
ok, on D line- vince wilfork, william joseph, jerome mcdougal, and mat walters, ur not gonna "steamroll" all those guys.
lb's- jon vilma, dj williams, chris campbell.
WHAT R U SMOKING
dbs- ed reed, james lewis, markese fitzgerald sean taylor (who was a BACKUP) phil buchannon and jermell weaver i like how u didnt mention them
colum4469 3 years ago
Already did that on other video. Go check Miami video GOAT video. This claim Miami fans love to make regarding 01 being so much more talented than 95 is baseless. 01 Nu yes, big reason why UM won that game. Big time and I mean big time talent gap between 01 NU and 95 NU. 01 NU no more than 7 players that went on to play in NFL. 95 Had nearly 30 and 3/4 of those guys were long time starters. Go check it out on your own if you want names. DO SOME RESEARCH!
95skersbestever 3 years ago

phil buchannon dj williams mike rumph antrel rolle vernon carey and bryant mckinnie were all solid players but not hof
i think thats pretty good wat do u think? ok
lets c wat uve got
colum4469 3 years ago
My god, not everyone that passes through the Miami is HOF material. Many will put together nice careers, but practically everyone HOF eligible? Get real! Lets keep this what it really is. Debate about two football teams not individual accomplishments. LEt me ask you this. What happened to all those AA, 1st rounders, and as you say possible NFL HOF when they played 01 BC and VT? Where were they?
95skersbestever 3 years ago
ok dude, ive got2 give it 2 u that 4 once u were right about sumthin, we shouldn be debating individual accomplishments. however, the first 2 in my top catagory r makin hof and 21 woulda. the second catagory of people with the way their carrers have gone DO have a chance even though as much as i wish they would all make its most likely not going 2 happen. i took another look at my own list and i have 2 correct myself about roscoe parrish, even though hes an excellent player hes not hof material
colum4469 3 years ago
21 make the HOF from one freaking team?OMG dude, I know you're a Miami fan, but have a little bit of objectivity. So, I ask you again. Where were all these AA, 1st round picks and high picks agaisnt BC and VT. Since ALL UM supporters use these AA, 1st rounders and in their mind and yours future NFL HOF players as the primary reason they would beat 95 NU. It's only logical to ask where were they when 01 UM struggled to beat two very avg 4 loss teams in BC and VT? Where were they? what happened?
95skersbestever 3 years ago
oo ok and u wanna talk about NFL players? name all the players on the 95 NU that did well in the NFL ill do the same 4 01 canes and we'll compare lol
colum4469 3 years ago
95skersbestever 3 years ago
no dude 21 meant sean taylor not 21 players i put 21 instead of his name cuz i didnt have enough space
colum4469 3 years ago
Oh ok, I will give you Ed Reed and possibly S. Taylor RIP. Taylor great player yes, just can never tell how rest of career would go, just like no one would have thought he would be shot and killed. Again RIP Sean Taylor
95skersbestever 3 years ago
u dont think shockey will make it? hes been in the nfl i think 7 years and has 4 pro bowls (same as ed reed) and had 5 or more touchdowns in the past 4 years. and ok, i will admit i was wrong bout the weather thing i didnt realize it gets so hot in nebraska. But also like u said "its the midwest we get it all" well this is miami we dont and playing in 40> degree weather with swirling winds is hard when we dont even get that in the winter
colum4469 3 years ago
Sure, I like Shockey. Great player and all. Just have to see how rest of career turns out. He should do really well in the Saints system. The Saints could be scary good on offense with Shockey to open the deep middle of the field for the passing game. Bush and McCallister will benefit from that as will open up more underneath passing route and open some holes in running game.

U of all people Gatorgal should remember Frazier.

i GUARENTEE that the canes will win a BCS game in 2 years
colum4469 3 years ago
just take a look at how many players on this defense are now the elite top-tier in the NFL.

GaToRGaL1224 3 years ago
Miami only beat 1 top 10 team all year NU. Please look shit up before u run your mouth. 95 Huskers would of destroyed this team like they did to everyone they played, unlike Miami who barely beat to two 8-4 teams that year Boston College and Va Tech.

true that

you can't fault miami for beating the @#$% out of teams (syracuse 59 - 0, washington 65 - 7) so badly they were dropped significantly in the rankings.
the miami defense would have eaten that outdated option alive, just like they did in the 2001 rose bowl.
