Was there an Olympus PEN-E in there?? Nice little cameras, I had one once. Excellent demonstration of the Filmo. I have a wartime version of its bigger brother (Eyemo), but 16mm is an easier gauge to work with all round.
You never showed this to advertising companies because near the end it was looking like a commercial. Shouldn't be too hard to pitch oneself: "Want a commercial with enough room for a voice over without using expensive equipment? I have a Bell & Howell. No batteries. Quick set up. Very hardy machine."
Unbelievable that Manos: The Hands Of Fate was shot on one of those.
Nice job! How did you transfer to video? After seeing this, I'm thinking of buying one of these cameras on ebay, would you mind commenting on the cost of film & processing? I'm looking forward to watching your next movie.
Yes. It's true the camera doesn't record/sync sound and the motor is spring-driven so you wind it up before shooting. There is also a crank attachment that lets you pull the film through manually.
@hampusheh It does 24 fps so if you want you can record sound at the same time. A 16mm and an 8 track reel to reel would be higher quality sound and audio than most digital movie cameras. News reels and TV news were tradionally shot silent on this camera with the story and music added in post.

The problem with the DR is that it has such a wide shutter angle that your images are not as sharp

You could easily find a replacement lens on eBay, just do a search for "c-mount" lenses.

Very impressive. Did you use a light meter, or did you eye-ball the exposure?
cubdukat 4 years ago
I used a Sekonic L-358 meter.
