Just to be clear here: This was in the summer tour 1994. Alice in Chains were supposed to be in this tour as well, but the lead singer (Layne Staley) couldn't tour due to his heroin addiction. Therefore Alice went on hiatus a few days before the tour was to begin. James is making fun of Layne for his addiction, while playing Man In he Box, and an Alice In Chains fan threw a shoe at James. Many Alice fans lost respect for James from doing this, but I think James might have had too many beers.
