To me, hating shitty, poorly written female characters isn't sexist at all. I'm a girl and I know of a lot of annoying female characters that were just insulting to my intelligence. I'm a struggling author and try making my characters well written, whether they're male OR female.

This is my same argument for when people say that it's sexist that Video Games have more male main characters than female main characters.
Because I don't know about anyone ells but in about 95% to of the games that i have played and or owned have male antagonists. Plus in nearly every one all the men are idiots/irresponsible and all the women are smart/sensible.

There's a book written by an obviously bitter ex-wife called, 'Why Daddy Doesn't Love Us Anymore'. It's written in a question and response style where the questions get increasingly ridiculous. "Mommy, why come we had to move?", "Mommy, why come I can't have my birthday party?", "Mommy, why come we are not happy anymore?"....answer: Because daddy doesn't love us anymore.
The ex husband, in return wrote a book called, 'Because Your Mom Is An Icy Demanding Bitch."
However, there is one called "The Messy Room", where, if memory serves, Mama's the unreasonable one and it's Papa who's the sensible mediator. But I suppose that is only one plus-factor for him, considering how the rest of the series portrays him.
You know what's especially jarring for me is having to change the way I look at these books. I have very fond memories of growing up on the Berenstain Bears, so realizing now how sexist the books are, well, it's not a wonderful feeling at all.
But come to think of it, I do remember Papa Bear tended to be the buttmonkey (buttbear?) of these stories. There was one where they went to the doctor and he caught a cold in the end, and the rest of the family stood there with mean smirks on their faces.

Papa is the sensible one in all 3 of these stories however the book portrays them! I'd divorce mama if not for family law, with it I'd do what I learned from FBI files on that whore...i'm never marrying lol ._.

If it was just 1 series I'd say papa is a character who is just retarded mama is just a good character... but this is copied in all kid's shows, adult shows, etc. TV is a more efficient communication medium than books - if they like older-is-better logic why not have older morals on women? some people aren't as easily amused as kittens and need more than a ball of wool to amuse them! Mama is a dictator who doesn't do any work like most females.

There's a book written by an obviously bitter ex-wife called, 'Why Daddy Doesn't Love Us Anymore'. It's written in a question and response style where the questions get increasingly ridiculous. "Mommy, why come we had to move?", "Mommy, why come I can't have my birthday party?", "Mommy, why come we are not happy anymore?"....answer: Because daddy doesn't love us anymore.
The ex husband, in return wrote a book called, 'Because Your Mom Is An Icy Demanding Bitch."

However, there is one called "The Messy Room", where, if memory serves, Mama's the unreasonable one and it's Papa who's the sensible mediator. But I suppose that is only one plus-factor for him, considering how the rest of the series portrays him.

You know what's especially jarring for me is having to change the way I look at these books. I have very fond memories of growing up on the Berenstain Bears, so realizing now how sexist the books are, well, it's not a wonderful feeling at all.
But come to think of it, I do remember Papa Bear tended to be the buttmonkey (buttbear?) of these stories. There was one where they went to the doctor and he caught a cold in the end, and the rest of the family stood there with mean smirks on their faces.

@Mectrixctic Men are not considered as a legitimate group, and in fact are look at as privileged, which is why shots at men are made every day, even in our children's books movies and tv shows. Thats why its politically correct to bash men and incorrect to defend them.

Several scenarios that men are put in to be funny, women almost (If not at all) are put in the same scenarios in the name of comedy, including mutilation.

The men are called grass eating boys, a sort of shaming title to shame men to get back into their traditional role. It has women and even the Japanese Government itself in a panic. I can send an article about this new phenomenon.

One time a woman did appear but she prevented the trident big heads from getting her to spit out her gum.
They sent the ram after her that got a man to spit out his gum in a previous commercial but the woman took down the ram as if it was nothing, roared at it, and the big heads fled the scene with ram in toe.
That was the only time a woman appeared.

You are not condoned for bashing men with sexist comments and situations, but applauded and rewarded.

Women are rarely (If at all) presented in negative role of being stupid, evil, abusive, and other bad titles.
Two and a Half Men make jokes about a man who has been taken to the cleaners by his unfaithful wife and is forced to live with his brother just to get by.
