  • Hi Phil, it is not necessary to remap following the intake modification in that you will not damage your engine. However, as you probably know it is not necessary to remap after fitting a Blueflame exhaust either, but you notice an improvement by doing it. Your engine will be able to intake more air, so remapping could make the most from it. I would do it, but it is not necessary. Hope this helps.

  • @markjrobbins - Many thanks Mark, I will carry out the mod this week and then pass it over to the Dynatech boys to check/remap.

    Regards,

    [Phil.

  • Mark,

In June 2011, I purchased a 2009 Tiger 1050 which had a Blue Flame Exhaust fitted and to which I added a Power Commander 5, which removed a lot of the hesitancy due to EC 3/4/5 settings etc, as it did on my previouse bike a Honda Varadero. If, as you advise, I now modify the rubber inlet tube within the airbox and add a K & N Filter, will it be necessaary or adviseable to have the Power Commander remapped?

    Regards,

    Phil.

  • thanks for more Interesting modifications. Gotta check them out.

  • I have done that. Kn filter, leon vince exhaust and remapping. It runs great now.

  • @pasifsc You would like it even more if you took the cat out of exhaust and tried one of the Australian tunes (they have no cat or SAI as standard). :-)

  • @markjrobbins maybe I should try that. How good can it be when it is as good as it is even now. :)

  • @pasifsc Well take a look at my other videos: I made one giving tips on how to do decat, and another called dyno #2 which shows power gain. You get same extra power as fitting race exhaust but its free!

  • You are welcome mate, sorry for poor light - my halogen flood light in garage got smashed... I had to do this video at night very quickly so not the best film and comentary!

  • @markjrobbins Hello Mark. I'm pondering doing this on my 1050. If I do it, will the bike need any change in the electronic settings, like remapping or so?

  • @antwan37 no re-mapping required if you are only doing the intake. If you wanted a few more hp, you could run TOR or Arrow Street maps if you wanted even with stock exhaust. Only time I would recommend re-map is if you run an open exhaust and or remove the cat.
