The first Jamaican ska record was called 'Easy Snappin'' by Theo Beckford, giving Jamaican its own distinctive sound .It was produced by Coxsone Dodd the first Wailers producer (though he rarely paid them). There are some similarties between 'Easy Snappin' & 'Easy Skanking' melody wise as I'm sure Bob knew. I'd like to think think was Bob's tribute to Theo, who never got paid a penny by Dodd.

Ska came a tad bit later and incorporates an american style soul/rock with the reggae, horns and an more prominate strum. Rocksteady, i really dont know much about.. i think its jsut a slower form of ska.. but im not sure.
