Cela fait même pas une semaine que je connais cette série et je suis déjà fan. je trouve que les personnages ont vraiment beaucoup de charismes et ils sont très expressifs et il y a beaucoup d'humour, je trouve ça cool, mais le plus importants, c'est que pour chaque episodes, il y a une leçon ou une morale à retenir, cela me rappèle le concept des dessins animées des années 80 - 90.

Decent acting in the redub, but either the mix didn't quite pan out or the French recording studio really needs to update their gear. While the BGM and foley work still carry their original fidelity, the voices are coming out muffled. The characters speaking shouldn't have to fight against the background sounds for attention.

I think the french dub is possibly the better one of the dubs. Good voice actors, good studio quality, and the transition towards the french language is seemless (I really believe they're speaking french).

Question: was Applejack given an equivilent rural french accent to match her original texan accent?

Not really, still there are some hints like "pour sûr" or the "mam'zelle", which have a "rural quality"... but it is less obvious than in english. Her accent is pretty plain.

1. Nope, you can see at the very end of the credits (after © 2010 Hasbro Studios) that the french dub was made by SDI Media Belgium.

having been a French brony for some time, I have feared this would come. I know by experience that french translations of anything else than movies are dreadful. However, so far it went better than expected.

Twilight's and Spike's voice are good and they did a good job in stranslating some of the names but not all (Applejack stays but Nightmare Moon is now Selenia).

Still lots of bad points though : the opening is awful, I think they censored Spike's mail-burp, and Applejack has no accent...

@Arkalidor Applejack's accent is pretty clearly a rural French one. Pay particular attention to how her Rs are sounded compared to the others. They're just not ladling it on with a trowel.

@gasconne well yeah, she doesn't speak quite like the others, but it sounds to me as someone from the city who was asked by a crazy employer to do a rural accent and has no clue on how to do it.

Ah well, at least they didn't hire someone with a ch'ti accent... nothing against the ch'ti but we just get too much of them these days :p
