This and Memorials/Rebuilding Serenity scenes constitute two moments in films where I simply can't help but smile at the beauty of what I'm seeing and listening to. Wonderful stories, wonderfully made :)
"You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as a turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' before she keels. Makes her a home."
Ummm, although the subtitles read "tells you she's hurtin' before she keels," the word Mal speaks is "keens", a verb meaning to cry out in a long wail, usually of sorrow or mourning, but could be pain. Or the anguish of pain. Definitely a sound of acute distress.
Mal: But it ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of flying is? Well, I suppose you do, since you already know what I'm about to say.
I also love it, in this show, when Mal says "You already know ti don't you?" and River replies with "Yes ... but I'd like you to tell me anyway" she just wants to be normal ... such a BEAUTIFUL ending to the film, amazing scene!
Fox showed the episodes out of order, poorly advertised this masterpiece of a show, and didn't even show the pilot episode for the longest time... I wish it would have started on SciFi... at least then it would have had a chance... I hate Fox for this

My most favorite part of the entire scene is the metaphor of the storm on the planet, compared to the trouble they went through to show the truth of the alliance to the verse, "The storm's getting worse..." "We'll pass through it soon enough", it always makes me hopeful, keep flying.
@TheRamen6378 You do know that you sound pretty douchey right about now? Just because something's overused doesn't make it not good in context. Look at Lux Aeterna - easily one of if not THE most overused piece of dramatic music everywhere, but it's still a brilliant piece of modern classical music. :3
@SerenityScore That's not the main issue I'm having right now. If something's overused, then people should, for the most part, know that it's overused. Res501MK's treating the storm metaphor as if it's something revolutionary, something that's never been seen or used in movies or the like before, when it's clearly not. Anyway, lets all just admit right now that Serenity, although I enjoy seeing it a lot, does have some flaws that make it on the verge of being your average action flick.
@TheRamen6378 I just like how its concise and meaningful, I use it often myself, I guess thats why I like it so much, there is a reason that things are cliche after all.
@MCtargoon That scene always makes me think of Zoe, instead of Serenity. "She's tore up plenty" over her loss of Wash, but "she'll fly true." she'll stay strong. <333

@TheLordofError The actual quote is:

River Tam: I do. But I like to hear you say it.

@Res501MK Yes, the last 10 minutes of Serenity are my favorite of the entire series and movie.
I especially liked right before this when Mal and Zoe were talking
Mal: Think she'll hold together?
Zoe: She's tore up plenty, but she'll fly true.
Mal: Make sure everything is secure, it could be bumpy.
Zoe: It always is.
