Actually, the forehead should go quite close to the floor to be a Texas Dip! The head is turned to the side to avoid lipstick on the gown.

That is known as the "Texas Dip." It is practiced by all Texas debutantes and by some in other Southern states. I once saw an Texas octagenarian execute one at Idlewild to show that she could still manage one.
