who gives a shit what their religion is. if you listen to music based on their religion then your lost and dont know how to gauge good music from crappy music.
@MorkaGraven Seems like a waste of time to hate on that which you have supposedly "killed", doesn't it? I mean, you've already won, haven't you? (Although the hundreds of millions of Christians still in the world today must indicate that you're wrong).
@HolyChristianMetal They won't admit defeat because they are often known to ignore anything we nihilists have to say about their favoured God. It doesn't matter how intelligent we are, it's hard to get through to them.
Thus, when they speak of morals and values, we perhaps cringe and get enraged by the fact we discussed this with that same person just last week. (this being an example)
@MorkaGraven Well I'm sure not ignoring you. I'm all ears.
And I have been "gotten through" to before, and that lasted a few years during which I explored all sorts of religions (including a lack thereof) and realized that this was the path for me. That's perhaps the biggest reason why I feel that the God of the Bible is the one and only true God; every time I try to run (I've been trying to run most of my life), I am delivered back to Christ.
@HolyChristianMetal Fair enough, I'm just curious if anyone has "gotten through to you" in an accurate enough way to keep you. Nietzsche certainly had his fair share of reasonable statements that has since kept me from religion, atheism and anything else that's "absolute".
@MorkaGraven Rom. 1:18-24 The wrath of God refers to his personal anger against sin. God's anger is not selfish or arbitrary but represents his holy and loving response to human wickedness. Some have understood God's wrath in impersonal cause-effect terms, but this betrays a deistic worldview rather than a biblical one.
@pizzaworkout Even though I support Christian metal, saying that all secular death metal is inherently Satanic is rather ignorant. Just because God isn't praised doesn't mean that Satan is involved.
They're Christian so I'm just gonna assume they're terrible and leave a hateful comment before I listen to the song!!
Please just shut the fuck up and listen to the song. Not every Gorgoroth fan is a Satanist, so why would you assume every Extol fan is a Christian? It's just music. It's not like you can really understand the lyrics anyway.
I love Ole's new style of music! His new album is an instant classic! It showcases how much of a genius and how diverse he really is!!! He is killing on vocals and guitar. I was fortunate enough to see and videotape the Synergy lineup of Extol twice! I'll have to post my videos on youtube soon. Ole Borud is officially the only person that can say he toured with Opeth, Living Sacrifice, and Kirk Franklin! How dope is that?
If you showed this to any prominent and popular religious leader and even with the lyrical content present it as 'spiritual' music, I am quite confident most of those figures would spit in your eye. The inception of black metal was a product of anti-religious philosophies, and is titled 'black' metal because of that very fact. This is as contradictory of an act as puking on an inverted cross nailed to a pentagram with a severed goat's head adorning it and calling it Christian spiritual symbolism
Wouldn't surprise me if they did, as that would just be yet another example of the human perversion of Christ's message. Wolves, pharisees, and false prophets abound, misrepresenting the truth and creating divisions. Prominent and popular religious leaders in their ivory towers can kiss my ass.
1st of all, a lot of Christians and even religious leaders have shown support for Extol and other Christian Metal bands.
Some metal bands aren't believable because they try to be secular versions of Cannibal Corpse or whoever, but as Ole Borud's new album indicates, these guys sound like no one else and have way more influences than just Metal. They sung and played with such passion and conviction that you could not deny their talent and calling!
@dapianoman76 Correct me if I'm wrong, but does christianity not stand for Humility, submission, conformity, and unquestioning devotion? They're using dissonant and diminished note/chord progressions here that are the signature of Diabolus in Musica. The singer's guttural screeches that sound like they were procured from hell's depths. All these traits are directly influenced by the originators of Black/Death Metal who all denied, insulted and opposed god and christ outright. This is blasphemy.
Actually, early Christianity was just as much a rebellion as any Satanic movement is today. That's why there was so much persecution in the early days. Christianity only became an "organized religion" when Catholicism became the official Christian religion in the dark ages. Most Protestants, including me, and also the members of Extol (who are all admitted Pentecostals) don't even recognize the religions and rites of traditional Catholicism as Christianity.
@DimeisGod04 HELL'S DEPTHS??? Who knows what Hell's depths sound like? The Devil isn't in charge of hell, God is!
Most metal is not really a rebellion against True Christianity but rather the Papacy that was the driving force of persecution in the dark ages, all of the symbols that-for example-Deicide, rails about in their songs are symbols that most true Christians don't even care about. Even the Diabolus in Musica is a non-biblical, Papacy-inspired fable that noone cares about!
As I Lay Dying is a black/death band? they are a trendwhoring metalcore band who uses Christianity to seem like an alternative to evil metal, which is just playing on media stereotyping using religion. Fuck them
@GTASbo0mst1ck if the music is good i like the bands, nowadays you have to have a trend or gimmick to get anywhere, its the mass majority's fault, don't blame the bands that bring us good music, blame today's stereotypical world. nihilistic much?
I'm a Christian, I love Black Metal. I do my best to accept that others will contest my faith. Which is fine with me, if they make good music, I like them.
that's probably the most logical thing I've ever heard a christian say regarding their faith. I'm an atheist, but I'm not going to dislike a band just because they're christian. like you said "if they make good music, I like them". Faith is something I will never have, and I'm fine with people who have faith as long as they're as chill and respectful as you are. you are truly a great example of how one should practice their religion. beliefs are personal, and its great that you understand that.
I have no problem with someone believing in Christianity, it's just when they try to force an opinion onto another, when they go to far with their beliefs...
Christians don't allow Satism, it is "wrong" right? then why should we allow Christianity, when in alot of eyes its worse.
(I don't mean for any offence, if my opinion intrudes with yours, I am sorry).
Well, it doesn't really work that way. As a Christian, I enjoy the "Black Metal" sound. Emperor, Satyricon, Immortal, Mayhem, Watain; I like them all. But the lyrics seriously contradict my faith. It's nice to have music that I like and actually agree with. As for differing beliefs, it shouldn't be a problem to tell someone else about your faith. I don't care if your opinion intrudes with mine; at least I'll think about it. I'm not going to call you an intolerant fool or anythingforcallingmeout.
@mujuma Sounds a lot like Black Metal to me...btw, Christian Black Metal artists were were forced into the "Unblack Metal" title, and we're just fine with it, so please stop with the complaints. It should have already been settled.
Well, Christians shouldn't be making Black Metal, it is about the image... If they do decide to make a Black Metal Band, it shouldn't be about their Religious beliefs as that would take away the whole Genre... Black Metal was like a "Fuck you" to Christianity, and now Christians are turning it into their own. @strawbarie hey dude i think u got a technical mistake..hehehe..there is no christian music only christian lyrics, thats what ive red and im agree with it.

1998. 'Lengsel' is another christian extreme metal band from Norway, with several Extol band members. But Lengsel isn't death, it sounds more like black metal.
@Tveitan92 as i lay dying and demon hunter are metalcore, if you like them you'd probably enjoy haste the day, war of ages and bless the fall, as for death metal, mortification's older albums and impending doom are insane, august burns red are also pretty amazing.
@jotunmarty Try Mantric. They're Norwegian and got members from Extol. You can even try Twisted into Form. Bands that are awesome christian bands: All that remains, Becoming the Archtype Benea Reach For Today Haste the day Impending Doom Inhale/Exhale Oh, Sleeper The devil wears prada The showdown Transatlantic Neal Morse Underoath War of Ages and i got plenty more :D Take a look at Nordicmissions web site ;)

1998. 'Lengsel' is another christian extreme metal band from Norway, with several Extol band members. But Lengsel isn't death, it sounds more like black metal.

Since you're from Australia I could also mention a band named Horde from your home country. Also christian metal with the black metal sound.

Check out Underoath's second album, Cries Of The Past. Nothing like their recent music.

@Tveitan92 I wouldnt consider any of those bands black/death metal. Except Antestor though, they are awesome.

@Tveitan92 as i lay dying and demon hunter are metalcore, if you like them you'd probably enjoy haste the day, war of ages and bless the fall, as for death metal, mortification's older albums and impending doom are insane, august burns red are also pretty amazing.

@Tveitan92 you are a fucking idiot. As i lay crying is shitty metalcore. how fucking dare you.

If you like this early Extol stuff, the next band for you is IMMORTAL SOULS. Their stuff is all over youtube and myspace/immortalsouls. Enjoy.

In my opinion, the vocals only sound bad when you're trying to follow along with the lyrics. It just sounds more awkward that way.
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the lyrics themselves - I'm a Christian.

We need more people like you :P People judges extol too quickly just because they happen to be christians.
