  • Wow ,thats a lot of work, why not put both legs around the whole and sit down into it,lot more easier then that. Also, you don't have to wear your skirt in calm water ,which is where you want to launch your boat,in rough ,you don't have time to put skirt on ,sorry it had to be said. You do not have to wear your skirt or wear a life jacket ,all the time,it confines you,but you should in rough waters,so your equipment and gear, doesn't get wet.

  • Is she suggesting sitting a 170lb butt in the middle of a $300 paddle? Must be a very expensive lesson...

  • Are you retarder or what,i mean, for fuck sake, why do you think that we need a How to guide for entering in a god damn kayak?????

  • Oh, you've got to be kidding! She is making this way too difficult & time consuming to do a simple launch! She's taking so long, I'd sprout another gray hair!! She's scratching the $hit out of the bottom of the kayak &, hey, I'm a real-sized person-- I'd snap that paddle when I'd 'sit' on it just before getting to the seat! DO NOT try this method!!There are so many easier, quicker & just as effective ways to launch yourself kayaks. OUR kayaks aren't scratched on the bottom. Bet hers is!

  • STAND UP IN THE KAYAK AND DO A SMALL STEP TARD!

  • Haha.

  • Why not just go in backwards. You don't have to hold the paddle that way. Making it harder than it should be, or just trying to show other ways I guess.

  • it should be as simple as put your asss on the thing and go. That is it. :)

  • If you don't do a fist, the boat will sink.

  • @nicblais2x hahah i was thinking something pretty similar =]

  • great videos, how do you get to the back hatch while in the water and not tipping?

  • Step 1: Mentally prepare yourself to get in your kayak. Step 2: Lift your left foot. Blah blah blah. Just get in the fucking thing!

  • wow, this chick is fucking retarded. get back to the kitchen

  • she seems like she has some s-s-s-s-s-s-speech problems

  • Wouldn't it be easier to just walk the kayak into the water? It looks like she's making this more complicated than they ought to be...

  • To launch from a dock I allways use a seal launch. To launch from a beach just get in and get in the water. I'd love to see her when she's in a hurry :p

  • I think she was going to make a porno after that

  • Poll...does anyone do a solo launch from a beach this way??

  • @chicagomike88 To launch in surf you do mostly what she demonstrates. But people with enough experience to launch in surf would never, ever sit on their paddle like that.

  • oh my, so many better ways this can be done..Guess she never paddles with a skeg either, way to jam it up

  • oh my, so many better ways this can be done..

  • aww cmon jus jump right in that fucker

  • I'd like to see that chick launch a kayak (sit on top or sit in) in the surf. I imagine that even 1ft waves would be hard for her. It's like she's trying to teach autistic children how to launch a kayak.

  • Who in there right mind would get into a kayak from a beach like that? Just straddle the kayak and sit down. I hope no one takes her seriously.

  • wow, everything is MUCH easier than she makes it

  • She makes a beach launch look difficult and the dock launch a breeze I dont understand

i always prefer the beach beacause its alot easier. i just place my foot in the middle and sit down like a normal person. i then just rock my hips back and forth till i slide in.

Docks are a pain. they are always splintered and its easy for the boat to get away.

  • It is obviouis she works for a place that sells paddles. At one event 3 different people broke their paddles in 3 days doing it this way. Do a search on You Tube for How to Launch a Sea Kayak. You will find better ways,

  • I'm completely new to kayaking and it sounds like this isn't the best demonstration of how to enter your kayak from the beach, can anyone refer me to a better demonstration or explain a better method?

@darrell26194 What is a seal launch?

  • This video has been getting a lot of flack but actually if you are overweight or not very fit or strong, then this is not bad advice. I wouldn't want to scrape my kayak on the sand either so I'd take my chances at falling in; but don't forget some older people, or people with disabilities, knee or hip reconstructions might find these techniques very helpful. If it's not suitable for you then do it your way but if it suits your needs then use it.

  • yo babe i like how you say cock pit! why dont you come on over and get in mine.giggity

  • Was this demonstration for someone that is 900 years old? I've NEVER seen anyone enter a kayak like that from a beach. Easier way: Straddle it and plop your ass in; use hands to lift yourself just enough to put your feet in.

We kayak in the GA swamps, having to carry over fallen trees, carry through woods, ect. It's more fun with 30 lbs of gear for a camping trip. Hop out of the kayak onto a fallen tree, carry over, then hop back in while in a strong current. She would hold us up.

  • I just run full speed and dive into the boat...way easier.

  • the old in-out

  • wtf, i'm a NOOOOB kayaker and i launch easier and faster than that....shit advice!

  • From the dock, you look like you need to be a gymnast or something, I'd def end up in the drink. She makes it look so easy. But....From the shore, SERIOUSLY? Wow this chick makes this look WAY harder than it has to be!!! WHY is she doing it this way????

  • This is garbage. Why would you ever get in your poly kayak while it's sitting on gravel and rocks, and then push yourself into the water?!? This is how you destroy a kayak. This girl is a moron. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS TERRIBLE ADVICE, UNLESS YOU ARE INTO SCRATCHING THE HELL OUT OF YOUR HULL AND CREATING ALL KINDS OF DRAG. Get in your kayak when it is floating and not touching bottom.

  • @DropkickIrish

you can launch a plastic kayak with little if any damage to the hull from a rock beach

  • @Zurkoski Uh, no you can't. You clearly do not kayak, or have any experience with poly hulls. In fact, what you said makes absolutely no sense, unless that is you have a magical coating on your kayak. Rocks won't scratch plastic weighted down with 150lbs?? Any more advice completely devoid of common sense and basic physics of the world?

  • i'm a rookie, and i do mean rookie, at kayaking.

but, seriously though, i find myself getting in and out of the kayak much easier than this and i also launch with a lot less effort.

the part with the fist in the sand, or gravel, uh... you know there are broken glass on the beach right? and empty clam shells that can cut your knuckles wide open. sorry but that is bad advice.

this is way too complicated. thanks anyway though.

don't worry. i love shopping at REI.

  • thanks Brad! You did awesome!

  • Right, who would want to protect their own kayak from the rocks? And seriously...sit on your paddle? Puulease.

  • she is making easy things harder, in my opinion, and on the dock wouldn't a seal launch be easier?

  • @darrell26194 i know right?!? and that last launch she did was WAY to hard lol. Just straddle the kayak and sit your butt in the seat lol

  • @darrell26194 you will find it out, while trying to sell your kayak with 'undamaged' hull on ebay ;-)

  • Why the hell do you need to sit on the paddle like that to get into a kayak on a beach????!!!

Seriously that had to be the stupidest useless manauver I've ever seen.

How long has this girl been kayaking

and who the heck taught her that

or did she come up with it all her self?

  • Don't do this with a cheap paddle...haha

I'm going to get a nice paddle in the morning my $10 one (which was on clearance for $4.99) is pretty much broken just from paddling hard...
