the ref apparently wasn't aware that the contender was pulling on zap's top or that zap pushing the contender with her foot was a defense move.

Zap shouldn't have been disqualified. It was a "push" not a kick and what else is she gonna do when she's on the ground and the contender is on top of her pulling her jersey.
