i wish he would come back into the australian side
even though he wasnt much for scoring, his combination with players like kewell and under the management of the great guus hiddink, made australia a force in the '06 WC and again put football/soccor on the map in AUS, a country dominated by AFL and NRL
but one has to wonder what pim verbeek could accomplish with him in the team
i cant believe he has been a selfish moody prick about the whole Newcastle relegation thing. It took Verbeek along time to even get viduka to answer his messages. If he thinks he is going to pop his head up a few days before one of our pre-world-cup friendlies and get a spot on the starting 11 i think Pim is going to have some sour news for him.
Also here in australia we have to contend with AFL(Australian Football League) which is not the football which europeans know it as. Football(soccer) is slowly coming round in australia thanks to the Socceroos in the last world cup and Adelaide United FC currently in the Final of the Asian Champions League. Best sport in the world by far, and as the motto in australia goes,"90 minutes 90 emotions"it truly hits the nail on the head with that. I Love the EPL, though not the politics.Go Socceroos!
viduka is a legend in Australia. hes havin a bit of an inury patch though (it happends to most players at some stage in their careers) i hope when his Newcastle contract is over he will come to the Australian A-League to any of the clubs there as a marquis signing(so hes exempt from the salary cap, and can still get a wage similar to what hes used to) and i hope no one gives the A-league shit as it is only in its infancy and hasnt had the history of the leagues in euprope.
Viduka is a great player, I am glad he is on my national side. But for some reason he scores loads of goals but just a few for Australia but he plays a vital role in Australia's attacks whether he scores or not usually.
..and by the way I have never seen viduka kiss the Australian badge on his jersey..but sure as hell have seen him kiss the Melborne Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb badges he has worn in his career.
oh really, well what happened to dooks when it came time to shine at wc 06? he was no where, wasted all the chances that were given to him. come on he's good but to compare him to henry, van nistelrooy, shevchenko is a bit much
kewell is an english name, cahill is irish and viduka is croatian.
who gives a shit?? they're all born in australia and if they love the country that's all that matters, not where their ancestors come from, you ignorant little turd.
The fact is Football Australia spit on Sydney and Melbourne Croatia soccer clubs,2 clubs who produced Viduka, and Cahill (Yes he played Syd Cro juniors), Slater, Arnold, Bosnich, Kalac, Popovic, Rudan, Jennings, Santalab, Joel Griffiths, Sterjovski, Skoko and over 32 other socceroos...If two clubs have produced more socceroos than any other club in Australia or the world, regardless if they are Croatian or not, wouldnt you want them involved in at least a youth capacity in football Australia?

Viduka, when he was in his younger days... especialy while he was at leeds and on form, he was probobly the best forward of this era.

Its just a shame that most of our Australian stars were actually born in Croatia (Kewell, Cahill and Viduka aren't exactly ausrailan names)
JoeIsCool99 4 years ago
so australia is multi cultural who cares where they from as long as they love australia and willing to play for it

Kewell and Cahill were born in Sydney and Viduka was born in Melbourne. Have you got any idea?
