I miss that stadium. I went to my first football game there when i was around 5 years old. I have watched around 10 games there. Dont get me wrong tho the new stadium is pretty beast.

I live in Indiana so I got to watch it on the news. I was watching the implosion. They had to go back through there to make sure there where no homeless people left in there! HA!
at least It got to have a dignified death like the other great stadiums and not torn down with a wrecking ball, still I wanted to see a game there but never got to go there nor market square which was the last venue elvis played yet they still tore it down, at least the fieldhouse is somewhat nice looking even if it is less then 10 years old.
Man, this was fun to watch! The HoosierDump is no more. This cesspool of a place was nothing more than an eyesore for the NFL. Shame old Bob Irsay's remains weren't placed inside when it was imploded. Good riddance...
Entertainment "Hoosier Style". What a waste that all these cities are building newer cookie cutter stadiums. They will want something else in 15 years.
I have to say I spent 18 years of my life going to the RCA Dome well 17 if you count the season i missed when I was in Iraq, but anyways I loved that dome for all the memories it brought me, good and bad. R.I.P. RCA DOME 1984-2008 you will be missed.
The RCA Dome was better than the TRASH HEAP of Lucas oil Stadium. Sure it's kinda cool, but it's got rats, and the Colts don't play well in it and it is just bad all around. I prefer the RCA Dome but Indy's gonna do what it wants to I guess.
U must work there bt i do still feel like the RCA dome was still a lil new cause it was built in 1984 and theres still stadiums that are around that are older then the RCA dome was and still look good.
What a waste of Money destroying stadiums that are perfectly good. These stadiums would be the Best in most countries around the world, but us wasteful Americans are destroying perfectly good stadiums. Than you wonder why America is in the dumps. 1 Billion for the new Giants stadium for example....why?
I agree,I love sports but this is crazy to destroy a building thats 20 to 30 yrs old to make a new one.I've been to the Hoosier Dome and thought it was wild..Being a Lions fan and seeing them leave the SilverDome made me scratch my head and wonder why?..Det. can't feed its people but lets build 2 new stadiums..It just plain stupid..
You can bet the stadium paid for itself SEVERAL times over from all the games/etc that happened there... Not too wasteful when you think about it.. haha
Wonder how long it took to clean that up? It's amazing how under a controlled implosion, it takes almost no time to clean up the mess, but it took nearly a year to clean up the world trade center after 9/11.
it only takes about two weeks cleaning that kind of material up. I work for a company that does this proffesionally.I get to travel for my job too. I've demolished building s every where such as florida.
It's becasue ground zero is considered a crime scene and the authorities need to compile what evidence they can. Takes a bit longer that way than when you pay someone to implode the RCA dome.
dude yeah i was in that dome a lot for state and boa and all that, but this past year being in the new stadium. it is just amazing marching and playing on that feild
Ah...BOA Grand Nationals. I performed there this year for the first time (I'm a sophomore). I wish I'd been able to play at the dome though. I heard that it was a really cool experience.
that was the worst stadium in the nfl and the smallest. it was a good thing they imploded it. the new stadium isnt much better either. it is still the second smallest in the nfl. the only one that is smaller is the bears and its like 100 years old.
People shouldn't feel sorry the RCA dome got imploded, it was a total eye sore. It was a hideous concrete slab with what looked like a giant bed sheet draped on top. Lots of good memories yes...but progress for the city of Indianapolis now it's gone. Now all that remains to be seen is how well they develop the area and expand the convention center, hopefully they wont screw it up.
ah we all know that the convention center will be cancled and that the rca dome will turn into what market square arena did, a parkinglot for the rest of its life
It wasn't a waste to tear it down -- it was in the way of progress. The convention center is too small for major conventions -- and the only way to expand is where the dome is (was). It had to go.
It's kind of a waste for it to be torn down. They could've used it for something. I mean, I've been to Indy 3 times for the FFA national convention, and they held concerts and stuff in there. This year they moved everything to Lucas Oil Stadium of course.
Hmm. It's kind of sad actually. That placed held so many memories. I remember that one time behind the stands...
Man i live in kokomo indiana and i personally think that they should have used RCA dome for a PRO baseball team or something cause the indians aren't in the major leagues. Thats just my opinion but its too late now
Yeah, in about 10 years the Lucas Oil and the Dallas Cowboy stadium are going to suck. Just look at the University of Phoenix Stadium that was build in 2006, every body forgot about it.
Oh yeah of course, the stadium play a big part on the great teams, like the new Yankee stadium but what i was talking about is that there is so many teams around the world making new stadiums so often that the hyped about every new stadium lasts about 3 years or more (depending on the stadium) and then some other team makes a much better, bigger and more advanced one that focuses the eyes of every one towards it. All the sudden the new stadium doesn't look so new compared to the new ones.
The only Wrestlemania venue ever to be Imploded. RCA Dome hosted Wrestlemania 8(1992) where Macho Man defeated Ric Flair for the WWF Title, and Hulk Hogan defeated Sid Justice.
Damn! I moved to Denver from Indiana and I only saw the Hoosier dome. I didn't get back to even see the RCA dome. Now, there's Lucas oil stadium? Wow, Indianapolis has changed a bit since I've been back. Anyways, Go Colts!!!! Please let the superbowl be Indy vs the Giants, Manning war.
Very nice.. taken down by the best in the business- Baltimoreans! Just make sure we don't win the Super Bowl in 2012 ; we'll probably take down that airplane hangar across the street. Next time instead of explosives, it'll be 40,000 Ravens fans.
if theres one game i'll never forget at the rca dome is the colts vs pats game in the afc campionshipn when the colts pulled off the greatest comeback of all time to win afc championship... then went on to super bowl 41
why it was demolished? This stadium looks nice ..

Because it was an air supported dome, it had a canvas like roof. They probably didn't want more stuff to clean up.

because the roof was just inflated plastic..if they imploded the dome with the roof on the roof wouldn't be destroyed
