if the speakers you mention in the comment are the originals then i have the exact same stack, coz i have a jcm 900 100watt and a 1960B cab with the speakers in it that came in it but im not sure what the specific name of them are.

Gibson Flying V with a Dirty Fingers pickup, all controls at 10.
I don't remember exactly what the EQ settings were, but this will give you an idea. I think these settings are pretty close. You might want to lower the gain and crank the master volume to give you that power amp breakup, like AC/DC does, because they don't use gain amps.
@ItsChrispyTv It gets a good GNR tone, the amount of gain channel A has is similar to a JCM 800. This 4100 head has 6L6 tubes, which I've heard this version of the head has more bottom end than the EL34 version. If you want more power tube saturation, you'd probably want EL34's. The JCM 900 SL-X's don't have diodes (other 900's and Jubilee's do), and are still rather inexpensive. I'd recommend a JCM 900 4100, MkIII, or SL-X. You could probably get any of these heads for less than $1000.
@mattparrish123 I love this amp, but if you're a tube purist, you might not like it as much because channel B has diodes. However I think it sounds very unique. It's good for everything from classic rock to thrash metal. This head is the 6L6 version, which I've heard sounds better than the EL34 version. And this amp isn't in production anymore, so you'd have to get it used. I got this half stack used for $900, so it's not very expensive at all for a tube Marshall built in the U.K.
@JTstratman13 The main rag I have read about the JCM900 4100 and 4500 is that the reverb circuit fucks with the tone. They are based on the JCM800 2205 / 2210 which had the exact same problem. I would not use the reverb. AC/DC uses no reverb or time delay at all, just high volume power tube overdriven crunch.
highway to hell sounded a little off but besides that it was good

im not tryin to diss u or nething but ive watched alot of other videos of jcm 900's n they sound way better then this??

@mattparrish123 i used the camcorder's mic, which isn't as good as miking the amp. I also used to use too much treble and presence.

@JTstratman13 I have a JCM 900 MkIII 50 watt version and for AC/DC I always use these settings:
Presence = 5 (To me too much presence makes amps sound brittle)
Bass = 10
Mids = 6
Treble = 8
Volume = 7 to 10 (To saturate the power tubes to early breakup)
Gain = 11 (Gain goes from 11 to 20 so 11 bypasses the diode rectifier)
Preamp = 5 to 7 Moderate preamp gives it that JMP/JCM800 punch
If I want more sustain and thicker tone I push the front end with a Barber Directdrive. I use JJ E34L's
LesPaulCustom79 1 year ago
@LesPaulCustom79 Do you know if the 4100 bypasses the diodes with the gain over 10? I never really go past 10.

how much for the combo, what cabinet you using? :P I'd love to buy this combo
volcom1722 1 year ago
@volcom1722 The combo goes for around $600 on eBay, this half stack was $900. The cabinet is a 1960B 4x12 with Celestion G12T-75 speakers.
