  • The gas tank should be further away. How efficient is it? I mean, how much push does it converts from a certain amount of gas burning?

  • lol 1:52

  • sounds like a auto playing fufuzala

  • Thumbs up if you laughed when they both stepped away at 0:59.

  • A pulse jet engine that runs on compressed air and propane gas, fuck in ell why hasnt anyone ever thot of that before now..it is about as useful as wing mirrors on a submarine, ashtray on a motorbike or tits on a bull.

  • @Thevoiceofreasonful Thankyou for sharing that useful information

  • dumpert

  • Can i grab it??!!!

  • @silverkudo theres a guy on u2b called 'xjet' he has a video on how to build them and also has a book

  • how do you make one of those?

  • dude that thing is glowing blue.

  • how does it turn into purple instead of bright red/yellow?

  • @Podarias its the camera, the infrared filter is messed up =)

  • 0:37 dude ur hair is on fire!!!

  • alien technology...it glows purple.....

  • your giving it way to much fuel and your fuel pipe is running around the combustion chamber so its heating it and boiling before it it gets burnt causing a shit combustion. I suggest modifing this asap

  • lacking an IR filter i see (you can test cameras with a tv remote :P)

  • what is the purpose of two intakes over one?? I'm trying to build one but how important is the conical shaped chamber?making the chamber is hard, i was thinking of using a ss bar drink mixer. how precise does everything have to be?

  • Yes, but my dear fellows....why and what for?

  • @orchardcottage

Bets sitting on your butt making comments!

  • It glows purple? wtf?

  • @McFuckNuggets The purple glow is an artificial color caused by the inferred sensitivity of the sensor on the camera and the Ir filter. The temperature required to heat steal to the temperature to glow purple-white is well above its melting point.

  • @blizzard242 Interesting...

  • GETA and Will, come on guys, seriously, it doesnt really matter, some people like pulse jets and some like tv... i like tv... and pulsejets... actually i think ill go watch tv... cyas

  • Did he die?

  • i'll puke on your moms tits, and make you lick it up. If you had even the slightest idea wtf you are talking, you'd realize how fucking stupid you are for even trying to get the last word in. Man you sound like a very educated individual. "My blend of inferior ethnicity"? LOLZ!! youre probably the kind of idiot who hangs around gas stations chewing skoal and cracking black and mexican jokes.do you understand why im an asshole to maggots like you? because i know im better than you, and its funny.

  • WTF is the point?

  • @GETABAGADRO some people like building things instead of watching tv.

  • @williamhad yeah ok, and some people like to choke themselves and shove vibrators up their ass when they jerk off, all this thing is a COMPLETE waste of time/money/ and whatever they are using to fuel it.. it obviously hasnt the thrust to do anything cool with. its just loud and cool to look at, and i bet it smells like a methlab. so if your idea of excaping the corporate chokehold by not watching tv, and in turn participating in such a stupid activity, go forth and waste your time, eardrums.

  • @GETABAGADRO calm the fuck down asshole, all i said is what they are doing doesnt mean im "escaping the corporate choke hold" or whatever that bullshit you said was...all this is is a form of entertainment and if you cant realize that than you should just kill yourself because because your fucking retarded.

  • @williamhad stfu you fucking maggot. that and redefine your idea of entertainment. because if you think that this is entertaining, youre a fucking idiot. i hope you build one of these, and then it blows up in your face and your mom gets cervical cancer and dies. how's that for being an asshole?

  • @GETABAGADRO your clearly retarded....i never said this is entertaining to me, its a form of entertainment you mongrel sub human. clearly the inferior blend of your ethnicity has lead to your mental retardation. i would suggest that you kill yourself because someone of such low proletarian filth is of no use to society.

  • FAKE

  • Stolen alien hardware (glow) turned into high tech vuvuzela/jet engine.

  • see in a few years wealll have pace shipes

  • So what can you use this thing for?

  • @kieranmullen2 making shitloads of noise and awesome flames.

  • now that's one cool way to cook a marshmellow

  • Yeah now touch the pipe for a cookie :D

  • How does it suck in the fuel is it like pressurized or does it just suck it in?.

  • Ok I'm not the only one who thought that was a reinvention of the Vuvuzella

  • very tidy example, measure the thrust yet?

  • sounds like a dog after stealing a bite of hot chorzio sausage

  • Didn't V2's use pulse jets?

  • @SadisticGamerClan no it was a liquid rocket using liquid oxygen and acohol. with a hydrogen proxide reactor.

  • @SadisticGamerClan I believe that was the V1 or 'doodlebug' which made a rythmic thumping noise when it flew which cut out just before it fell to the ground and exploded.

  • @SadisticGamerClan Correction - the V1 used a valved pulse jet.

  • I imagine when metal starts to melt into a purple color, something is wrong.

  • Mom, I think we got another pesky fly

    Mom:Get the flyswatter then.

Me:I think were gonna need the double barrel.

  • the point of this is? or is this how the heat treat stuff in Connecticut.

  • how can you throttlee an engine like this?

  • @mitsos306 Im guessing increasing and decreasing the amount of fuel u put in...but im not actually too sure :S

  • @spcoulson thanks!

  • bong from hell

  • is propane better than 30 percent nitro and u might crack the tubing if you cool it that way or atleast warp it depending on the width

  • Hot metal plus cold water equals bad idea. Rapidly cooling nearly molten metals results in a tempering effect. It is referred to as quenching and drastically affects the grain size of the metal. This causes the metal to become brittle. Not so hot for an expensive toy.

  • @docfreezzzz thats exactly what i was thinking it would have been better to let is cool over time amiright?

  • @7419026 yeah i work on jet engines in the AF if he would have just lowered the fuel amount slowly and let the flame eventually die out then let the pipe cool down on its own the metal would have a less a chance of cracking i know on our engines if u turn it off stupid fast the compressor walls go back to their normal size (the engine gets wider due to heat expansion) too quickly and the compressor rotor blades which are still hot and also explanded dig into the compressor inner wall

  • is hosing it off the best idea?? wouldnt it cause the metal to become brittle?

  • wow i remember when these type of videos had like 20 views now they are becoming more popular.

  • The Germans used these engines on the V1 series of cruise missiles. The British really really hated these things.

  • @Tamalain

i dont think it was the accual engine that was hated but large amount of explosives attached ;)

  • it sounds ugly

  • what is that even useful for?

  • @CreepinSav

Properly designed ones can power RC planes.

  • i like that, a lot

  • LOL it glows purple

  • Wow, it didint turn orange or red, it went from purple blue and white.

  • Home msde pulse jet - very cool indeed!

  • LOL it starts to glow violet and gets hsiny and shit YAY xD

    Nice man =D

  • High tech vuvuzela

  • @simondb99 Goes great with Youtube's vuvuzela button

  • @simondb99 rofl

  • If you put the world cup sound on the video along with the video audio, it dosnt sound too bad

  • looks like a giant crack pipe

  • I WANTA JET PWED BONG. WOOT

  • thats not a jet thats a jet powered bong!

  • Sweet project. Keep it up, maybe next time we will see you guys propelling something with it, like a Go-Kart or something neat.

  • Looks like the makings for a great Darwin Award.

Or maybe the question people will be asking these incredibly intelligent people one day is. Wow how did you get burned so badly. Did the insurance cover your house that burned down ?

Other than burning a lot of fuel and getting really hot, making a lot of noise and creating and extremely dangerous situation that none of them seemed to be aware of. What was the point of this "controlled" experiment ?

  • when you get metal that hot, and then using water to cool it down, it could very easily crack the metal with the rapid temperature decreasing like that, best thing is to let it cool down by it self

  • @Apeman1991 there u go

  • I've never seen anything get that color before! What are the materials and/or fuel? Also I'd like to say it didnt seem to heat up as fast as some of the other ones I've seen

  • @jrmyrook It's actually getting red/orange/yellow hot, it's just the camera cannot perceive the infrared light properly and interprets it as purple.

  • @KholdAxe Oh really? Thats interesting. Would that be from the kind of camera because other videos dont have it, but now that you say it it does make sense to me

  • that looks like a sweet bong

  • We had to use the turbo fan in the lab to keep ours cool for a lab lol

  • Is it melting the concrete ?

  • How does this work?

  • is that your bong?

  • What is the Thrust Specific Fuel Consumption for this engine?

  • OMG the metal is white hot!!!

  • @TheRebornjason its actually just dark red when looked at by your eye, but the camera picks up the IR light as white-pink.

  • i love when the camera shifts the lighspektrum it looks so cool

and why is everybody so mixed up about the material? just use stainles steel or an old car exoust it will work just fine

  • 5*****!

  • sweet

  • Реактивная тяга

  • Caution: Filling may be hot.

  • ohhhh who drank the bong water hhaa

  • my god that was fucken hot, im surprised the concert didnt explode.

  • it doesn't have enough thrust to propel itself

  • that color can blind your eyes!

  • It could hardly blind any other part of you, now could it?

And besides, it's not hot enough to emit anything more than IR radiation.

  • @SilvaPaws did you see that color transition? thats not IR, thats visible light!

  • your thinking of welding ....not hot metal

  • yea i bet its radioaktive too^^ lol

  • nice amount of thermal shock there

  • Sounds like killer bee :-D

  • A ULTRA killer bee with rocket engines.

    :-D

  • @xumuk3 i think more like vuvuzela

  • There is no way that metal could sustain those temperatures with continued use. It does look cool but seems impractical.

  • Of course it's impractical. This is a first build prototype. Can't get it right the first time around.

  • I just saw a fairly new material (Carbon Carbon) that can sustain teperatures over 3000 degrees fahrenheit. That would probably work for this. For a first build, it is very impressive. I heard that getting those to stay lit is light trying to keep a candle going in a hurricane.

  • I would think that material would be perfect for this application, but prohibitively expensive, especially for backyard builders. Someday I would like to build one of these, and a turbocharger turbine. All I need is some money to finish wiring my shop, lol.

  • you are correct, but that doesn't mean much. i work for a foundry that produces many turbne parts and they handle temps in the 1500 degree range every time they run. i assume these guys got some titanium based metal, but even mild steel would work for testing (not that id wanna try that)

  • arent most pulsejets made with stainless steel?

  • You can buy them (or the plans, make it yourself) from United Nuclear. I have seen them on bicycles!

Like the way it glows near the end! How much thrust is it?

This is what powered the nazi buzz-bombs in WW2.

  • sure you could, the only problem is you would have like 10 lbs of thrust and you'd never get it off the ground

  • lolz

  • So where's the closest burn hospital to you?

It looks like the only precaution you took was a garden hose!

One little mistake with that toy and you'll be extracrispy in a fraction of a second.

  • loool

  • What did you construct it from? Vid makes it look like it's glowing violet hot, you'd need something like tungsten carbide for those temperatures

  • actually its titanium that does that but i use sheet steel for mine

  • This strange violet color is near infrared light which is visible for cams, but not for human.

  • Captain norris is correct, CMOS cameras in particular percieve & display near infrared radiation as blue/white instead of red/orange.

  • Y'know, my go kart's missing a engine, so...... :)

  • dude!! ya i think that this would be so sweet to have....just think of the posibilatys!

  • Looks to be a crude design. Compressed air pushing butane fuel that has been ignited. Now give it a coolant system, a frame and a contained fuel compartment, and a way to steer it remotely. measure the resulting thrust to weight efficiency and put it up on a web site for people to see. Then you will have futhered this hobby to a respectable point. But It's still cool.

  • HOW MUCH FUEL DOES IT DRINK?

  • what the point of that????

  • 00:45 looks like your hair is on fire xD

  • How did you make the valves? I want to make one.

  • This is a valveless pulsejet....

  • oooooooo dont spray water on it man! gunna crack the metal

  • yeh, pretty dumb

  • are the two small flames fuel/power leaks?

  • Looks like it to me

  • No, its part of the design, they're actually intakes. Look up how valveless pulse jets work if you're confused.

  • sounds like chewbacca LOL

  • LOL

  • LOL No filter on that camera

  • hey how much would two cost cas i want to build a mini plane ; )

  • why is this page upside down

  • its youtube's april fools joke

  • oh, I feel stupid :D

  • cool but stupid to use it for a engine .

  • the steel may crack if you cool it down to fast using water, and the structure of the molekyls will change. But the thing was nice!:D

  • u mean Molecules.... right?

    jesus christ.

  • sure, im from norway;)

  • ohh ok, its just i hate it when some british kids make comments and then cant spell it themselves... ill let you off tho

    :)

    /tim

  • I can sadly point out the fact that metals aren't made out of molecules. :)

  • and i can sadly say that you need to learn to read a conversation, i was telling him how to spell molecules, not what he that said was wrong...

    /tim

  • I completely understood that you were talking about spelling. I was talking about the exactitude of the statement. The structure of metals is rather defined as crystal grains and not molecules, which is not the same thing. Now if you don't care about this detail, don't bother replying. -t

  • why u got 2 fuel intakes?

  • What's the trust to weight ratio? (Not including the tank and tubing.) This might come in handy for my experimental remote control plane.

  • what kind of steal you used for it?

  • nice one! lol STRIDER!!!

  • Ever tried coupling this with an edf in front. I figure about a foot or more in front of it, connected with stainless tubing might do the trick of feeding it all the air it needs. It would be compressed, like with a real jet engine...(I used to work on them in the AF) but it may work anyways...I'd try it.

  • got one problem with that, he puts water on metal thats close to its melting point and he sprays water on it, i know i wouldnt wanna be the one to be using it next time

we know what happens to hot/cold cups plates if the opposite twemprature change is big enoth like this would be!

  • Why is it glowing purple rather than orange?

  • Camera's picking up infrared?

  • no its glowing WHITE hot

  • nah, the flame is blue cause of complete combustion unlike a yellow flame, which means carbon monoxide is being produced.

  • The flame is blue, because it's hot enough that the camera is picking up a lot of infrared light, and regular cameras often see strong heat sources with a blue-purple glow for that reason. You can be sure where the engine was glowing, it was actually glowing orange red.

  • So...I'm guessing this actually produces quite a bit of thrust, eh?

  • Actually these things produce a very small amount of thrust.

Pulse jet engines are very inefficient, as they combust and then must suck in to get more air. thats why it pulses, what you're hearing is it sucking in air again. the average turbine has a constant flow of air from the front to supply it, so it's much more efficient.

  • looks pretty hot

  • what does it do?

besides make a fuck load of noise

  • its a engine, it serves thrust but, i think it will make your ears bleed ;]

  • same basic engine for the V1 flying bomb

  • It pushes things foward. And makes a fuck load of noise.

  • cool. it lookd dangerous. can it explode?

  • Very likely.

  • yeah, what is the purpose of this "Pulse Jet Engine" ? if attatched to a gokart somehow, will it make it move decently fast or something? it looks bad ass glowing all pink and what not. WAY kool.

  • Scares the shit out of me that thing glowing. Anyway, it's a turbine. If you make an efficient one and attach it to your gokart you'd have a fucking badass gokart.

  • that explodes after 20 sec

  • ... it's not a turbine

  • I'm not a native english speaker, sorry.

  • Why does it go pink? o.0

  • the metal get so hot it starts glowing...
