Yes, I (John, the drummer) know Falco's work pretty well. I also listen to lots of German music. I was not so keen on his final (posthumous) album, Out of The Dark, but I liked his early stuff and particularly like the 1987 album, Wiener Blut. There was more to him than most think - clasically trained, he was quite a good bass player and a respected poet and lyricist. It was a sad loss to German language music when he was killed in such a stupid road accident.
Rock Me Amadeus is indeed the one he's remembered for, but I think he did much better songs than that. Another sad loss to German music was the author of this song, Nena's guitarist, Carlo Karges, who died after an illness. There was Rio Reiser too. Come to think if it, a lot of good German-speaking musicians have died. Schade, eigentlich! Have fun learning German. I studied it at uni and particularly enjoyed living in Potsdam, near Berlin, just after the Wall came down. Ah, happy times!
i love german 80s, ever heard of falco?
