I ran piston through GF's moms dishwasher twice and came out like new. After the JB weld and time on the lathe . And some Blues in the background helps after telling Customers about there eninges...lol
Home heating fuel is somehow different to the point that it doesnt smoke or smell as bad as regular , dont know what effect this might have on a engine
..I just fix em and someone else destroys them..Lol.....It is my understanding an additive is put in the diesel at some point related to sulphar emissions, a fuel detergent of some kind and water seperation.....But the issue is bit cloudy whether its true or not!
I believe it started with a bad injector but there is a lack of truth when asking about maintenance on engines by operators sometimes....People have been known to use home heating fuel instead of Diesel..Popular in Rural area's where its a drive for diesel...Bad for motor though!
@krismaze Home heating fuel and diesel are exactly the same, the only difference is the taxes. They are stored in the same tank at the refinery and delivered in the same truck.
@krismaze yup, heathing oil does not lub the injector pump or injectors like diesel does- although todays ULSD sucks pretty bad anyway, this pistion looks like it had a hard life of heavy boost and over fueled
not to mention man he might also not have been putting the right fuel in it. also was he not keeping the oil changed in it. diesel engines have to be taken care big time as much power as they put out.
this guy is just rebuilding this engine for some one eles, it came out of industrial equipment so it had a hard life, anyway, my brother put a 5.9 cummins in his 01 ford and he runs shafers in it, flat tapet rated oil that is, these guys probobly never changed to oil, and they probobly did not put flat tapet rated oil in it, so it wor out badly, the cam in one of his other vids has chunks out of it.

Looks like overfueled, under turboed, cummins piston, seen it before. And bad maintenance definitely didnt help.

Is the piston bowl melted from the spray pattern?

looks like some of that possibly on the driver. you don't take care of something. it won't take care of you back.
