Good song but a bit slow to be the fourth and only track from its era on Ultimate Experience. That album should've had a whole bunch of posthumous songs towards the end. There wasn't enough from that period to be honest.
@Kelly14UK i wouldn't call that an "album" if you want more from a certain era you should seek out records and live bootlegs from that era, not buy greatest hits compilations
I'll always Love Jimi he was an instant hit with me 9th grade at Ernie Davis High school art class when Cathy S brought the experinced album into class and we all gave it a listen Nr Shriber was very cool hard to beleave that was 43 years ago remember it like it was yesterday
Although, I find myself to be a religious skeptic, this song really inspires thoughts of something greater. It helps the idea of death transcend its sad first introduction and this is why I enjoy writing and playing. If I can help someone cope with death the way Jimi was able to help me, I'll feel like I truly accomplished something.
i love this song my dad introduced me to the likes of jimi hendrix the who the beattles i had this song played at my dads funeral always thinking of you dad. R.I.P see you soon man

L.S., The Cascades, the Olympic Range, the Penninsula, lake Washington, Mt Rainier, Mt Baker, the HoH, the Puget Sound ,the San Juans,,,the list is endless!! And from that city came The God of Guitarist!!!!!
I caught an interview once where hendrix mentioned sounds he heard in his imagination that he hadn't been able to copy yet... I wonder about those sounds.... He put things together so well....
joiLife, You're a smart young man, you just witnessed and appreciated arguably one of, if not the greatest Guitarist that ever roamed the earth! You have a wonderful mother!! During a very existential conversation with a close friend, she leaned in and asked me 'What is your Spirit Animal?'. I softly replied without hesitation, 'Jimi Hendrix', and it's this song that drifts back into my memory and into eternity.
@ERNEisAWESOME Tommy Emmanuel would be a good place to start. He can do it all at a masterful level. He's a master on both the acoustic and electric guitar. I cannot think of anyone in the world who's better than him or ever has been.
Don't get me wrong, I like Hendrix. But to say he's the greatest guitarist overall, ever, is ridiculous. He was a rock guitarist who dabbled in some blues. Emmanuel could play with anyone, whether it be Art Tatum or Led Zep. Hendrix could not at the same level..
@greyhall1 I agree, Emmanuel is an astonishing player. I disagree with your point about the "best player" though. There can be no such thing as the best player as it is all PURELY subjective. There is and never will be no definite answers. It all comes down to each person's opinion. To me Hendrix is the best, purely for the feelings he has given me! There are more technical players out there such as Emmanuel, Guthrie Govan, Vai , Satriani and so on, but to me Jimi was like a spiritual entity.
@greyhall1 Tommy Emmanuel is great, but where are is own great compositions. He could never write a great song, (atleast something popular) but he can cover the hell out of em.

you are twisted i've never thought musicians as anything but people but they have a talent just like every one does there' happens to be music and hendrix's talent was enormous just as all the great musician's i listen to, my talent happes to be i'm a great elactrician
I am glad Jimi Hendrix died Let me explain. Nowadays rock is watered down and it has no soul. The music industry has watered down bands and turned rock into a joke. Then again I wish he hadn't have died when he did he would have made more great songs. RIP JIMI HENDRIX your an angel now!

@IWantToKnowChrist yet another absurd comment. I'm talking millions of people have been influenced in some form or another, you even said yourself you liked them. Wasted their lives? they did more with their lives than what almost anyone would EVER do. could you do what they did?. I'm sorry but you sound completely twisted
luv this song, what separated hendrix from alot of guitarists inc clapton, miles ahead of his time, true music pioneer and much more than a amazing guitar player.

@RedDwarffs Well I dont care if they like it or gay asses like you dont like...! Say as much you will about me, but I dont care!!! Since you dont like my comment, then stop write that you dont care, and stop being negative! Relax man :D !
@adamtheboyfromdenmar Yeah, forget what RedDwarffs thinks about you! As Hendrix himself said, "Don't nobody know what I'm talking 'bout. I got my own life to live. I'm the one who has to die when it's my turn to die, so let me live my life the way I want to."
@TheDancingGeek1 Thank you man! I don't want to be mad on my idol's page! All I wanted to do was hear this masterpiece, and tell that rock will NEVER die!!! :D
when iwas 11 i had never heard a hendrix song in my life, i just read his lyrics, along the watchtower, and since then ive been hoooked im 20 now and will be hooked until the day i die, great music doesnt die ...
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx ..........I was lucky enough to hear his music when it first came out on album and followed his music ever since. Once you have heard him then listen to his message how could you not want more. lol
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx If you really knew your stuff about hendrix you'd know he didn't write all along the watchtowers, think it was Bob Dylan. peace x
@DrNockurne Yep it was Dylan who wrote it but once he heard Hendrix's version he afterwards said in an interview it was now his (hendrix's) song and in fact he could have them all if if wanted !!!
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx I'm not trying to be negative in any way, those are Bob Dylan's lyrics. Jimi transformed that song (lyrics) musically into something real. My understanding is Dylan say's it Jimi's song now. Both are great, Hendrix is the best to me. Hendrix BTY has many great lyrics himself. Along the Watchtower, I would say would never be as popular without Jimi. He brought the real meaning to it. MHOP
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx bob dylan actually wrote the song all along the watchtower, hendrix was just doing a cover of it.just like he did with the song, like a rolling stone, jimi hendrix was primarily inspired by bob dylan songs i'd say. but he's all dead now, just don't make the mistake of idolizing these people like i did, i'm 20 too btw. but seriously, the beatles hendrix, dylan, they had some good music, but were mainly terrible people, don't forget that, don't idolize them. God bless
@IWantToKnowChrist Terrible people?! you must be kidding! They stood for nothing but the good of mankind, they were against the fucked up system of this world and rightly so.
@insaneme92 perhaps in some ways they were against the system and maybe meant well in their intentions, i loved them too man, used to play hendrix, dylan and lennon all the time on my les pauls, loved it, ate it all up like candy, and i'm 20 years old but i got smart and realized i was looking up to drug addicts, mentally incapable and irresponsible people who destroyed their lives and were cruel, self centered, with minds like children. they didn't help the world, they couldn't help themselves
@IWantToKnowChrist How were they just mean people? where did you get this from? They weren't racist, sexist, homophobic, violent, bad mouthed or ignorant money chasing fools. They were extremely open minded and felt everybody should be treated as an equal, and not be judged because how they live their lives. Not like the average person of those times who would look down their noses at people who were different to them i.e race and sexual preference.
@IWantToKnowChrist So what if they did drugs, It is a bad substance but so is smoking, fatty foods, alchohol which people abuse these daily but are treated no different from everyone else. Margarine in my country is illegal now! Was I a terrible person because I once had that in my household? Its their life, It helped them cope with their anxieties towards certain things and they weren't any where near as hardcore the media makes out to be. Its ridiculous really.
@IWantToKnowChrist Minds like children? probably smarter than most people in fact. They could see through all types of bullshit that was fed to them, smarter than those mindless drones that don't bat an eyelid to anything. self centered? they offered to play venues for free whilst also being on the road almost everyday of their lives offering money to the homeless, promoting peace and governments that steal our money, yeah right minds like children. didn't change nothing? they changed music
@dazaelrasheem naw man, i don't want the mind of a child, a child doesn't know whats dangerous, a child will pick up a poisonous snake and di without knowing it would kill him, i want to be a man, knowing that this music is bad, that jimi hendrix was not a role model, that he couldn't take care of himself or his life, so that i don't idolize him and put so much of my heart and life into a man that is no better than any other man, I want to be wise and know the lord jesus christ and worship god.
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx That's supercool you got hooked so young, dude. But it's important you know that while Jimi wrote the vast majority of his material, he did not write the lyrics to All Along the Watchtower. Bob Dylan did. Jimi arranged the music much differently than Dylan's version, and it's one of a very small group of cover songs I really like. Keep listening, it just gets better with age.
alon the watchtower was Bob Dylan's; as in Jimi covered it out of admiration... sooo if that's the case do give a harder look into Bob, Neil Young and anything from Grateful Dead..like Dear Mr Fantasy . Band of Gypsys was pretty heavy.. as far as Jimi goes.
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx All Along The Watchtower was a Bob Dylan song. Hendrix just made it famous. So you can thank Mr. Dylan for introducing you to Hendrix.
Far too often, I find myself wondering what music Hendrix might have made if he had lived even 1 year longer. In his 27 years on Earth, he made some of the best music that may ever exist. His death is one of the most unfortunate, early deaths that has ever happened.
@jp547 Jimi was going into Funk about the time he died! jimi was influenced by his times. If he were here today, I wouldn't be surprised if he were to release a "Classical Music" album. Sounds contradictory? It isn't. It's about art. jimi wanted to do a symphonic concert but his agent and promoters at the time knew it wouldn't be commercial. If Jimi were alive, he would have the financial resources to do his own thing. And with the gifltless and talentless artists and music of today,
@rolandrog you said it brother, but i say he'd be proud to have fan's like us...he spread the love in his music as for where there is love there is life
Last August I was fortunate enough to be in Seattle, Washington, we drove to where Jimi is buried . Took some great photos! R.I.P. Jimi!!!!!!!!!!!

@WhiteWidowDragonHTx If you really knew your stuff about hendrix you'd know he didn't write all along the watchtowers, think it was Bob Dylan. peace x
DrNockurne 4 months ago

MHOP

@WhiteWidowDragonHTx All Along the Watchtower was written by Bob Dylan. If you want some good lyrics by Mr. Jimi, try When the Wind Cries Mary.

@WhiteWidowDragonHTx well dumbass, they are bob dylan's lyrics so you life is worthless
MrKoonies 1 month ago
@WhiteWidowDragonHTx bob dylan actually wrote the song all along the watchtower, hendrix was just doing a cover of it.just like he did with the song, like a rolling stone, jimi hendrix was primarily inspired by bob dylan songs i'd say. but he's all dead now, just don't make the mistake of idolizing these people like i did, i'm 20 too btw. but seriously, the beatles hendrix, dylan, they had some good music, but were mainly terrible people, don't forget that, don't idolize them. God bless

@IWantToKnowChrist You should be so terrible. Got talent?

@IWantToKnowChrist why were they terrible people? just because they didn't have the same believes you do? yeah, you must be a very good human (y)

@IWantToKnowChrist Terrible people?! you must be kidding! They stood for nothing but the good of mankind, they were against the fucked up system of this world and rightly so.
insaneme92 1 month ago
@insaneme92 perhaps in some ways they were against the system and maybe meant well in their intentions, i loved them too man, used to play hendrix, dylan and lennon all the time on my les pauls, loved it, ate it all up like candy, and i'm 20 years old but i got smart and realized i was looking up to drug addicts, mentally incapable and irresponsible people who destroyed their lives and were cruel, self centered, with minds like children. they didn't help the world, they couldn't help themselves
IWantToKnowChrist 1 month ago
@IWantToKnowChrist How were they just mean people? where did you get this from? They weren't racist, sexist, homophobic, violent, bad mouthed or ignorant money chasing fools. They were extremely open minded and felt everybody should be treated as an equal, and not be judged because how they live their lives. Not like the average person of those times who would look down their noses at people who were different to them i.e race and sexual preference.
insaneme92 1 month ago
@IWantToKnowChrist So what if they did drugs, It is a bad substance but so is smoking, fatty foods, alchohol which people abuse these daily but are treated no different from everyone else. Margarine in my country is illegal now! Was I a terrible person because I once had that in my household? Its their life, It helped them cope with their anxieties towards certain things and they weren't any where near as hardcore the media makes out to be. Its ridiculous really.
insaneme92 1 month ago
@IWantToKnowChrist Minds like children? probably smarter than most people in fact. They could see through all types of bullshit that was fed to them, smarter than those mindless drones that don't bat an eyelid to anything. self centered? they offered to play venues for free whilst also being on the road almost everyday of their lives offering money to the homeless, promoting peace and governments that steal our money, yeah right minds like children. didn't change nothing? they changed music
insaneme92 1 month ago
@IWantToKnowChrist we should all be lucky to have the mind of a innocent child who knows not the ills of this world
dazaelrasheem 1 month ago
@dazaelrasheem naw man, i don't want the mind of a child, a child doesn't know whats dangerous, a child will pick up a poisonous snake and di without knowing it would kill him, i want to be a man, knowing that this music is bad, that jimi hendrix was not a role model, that he couldn't take care of himself or his life, so that i don't idolize him and put so much of my heart and life into a man that is no better than any other man, I want to be wise and know the lord jesus christ and worship god.

@WhiteWidowDragonHTx Dylan wrote and preformed the song first but Jimi's version is great too.

@WhiteWidowDragonHTx Fun Fact of the Day
alon the watchtower was Bob Dylan's; as in Jimi covered it out of admiration... sooo if that's the case do give a harder look into Bob, Neil Young and anything from Grateful Dead..like Dear Mr Fantasy . Band of Gypsys was pretty heavy.. as far as Jimi goes.
peace

@WhiteWidowDragonHTx All Along The Watchtower was a Bob Dylan song. Hendrix just made it famous. So you can thank Mr. Dylan for introducing you to Hendrix.

jp547 Hendrix was pure genius he made music so far ahead of his time and people still today have been trying to copy his works and style.
ImShopRat25 5 months ago 13
Far too often, I find myself wondering what music Hendrix might have made if he had lived even 1 year longer. In his 27 years on Earth, he made some of the best music that may ever exist. His death is one of the most unfortunate, early deaths that has ever happened.
jp547 5 months ago 21
@jp547 Jimi was going into Funk about the time he died! jimi was influenced by his times. If he were here today, I wouldn't be surprised if he were to release a "Classical Music" album. Sounds contradictory? It isn't. It's about art. jimi wanted to do a symphonic concert but his agent and promoters at the time knew it wouldn't be commercial. If Jimi were alive, he would have the financial resources to do his own thing. And with the gifltless and talentless artists and music of today,
