The entire time od her abduction, she wasn't tied up. She wasn't injured by the abductors. She was fed and shut up in a house that she EASILY could have escaped. She let a search and rescue party past the house she was in without answering their calls out to her. She had every opportunity to escape. I think it is completely ludicrous that she is victimized to the level that she has been over the years. Watch the interview with her and Nancy Grace. Nancy nails her right in her dumb-as-hell head.
Elizabeth was never in a house. Her kidnappers were homeless transients who lived in a tent. They had her tied to a tree via a wire cable for the first 2-3 months of her captivity. She was raped at least twice. She could not get free of the cable, & her kidnapper was armed with a long sharp knife. He threatened to kill her with it if she screamed for help or tried anything. Have you heard of Stockholm Syndrome? A psychological leash? She's not dumb as hell. She was too scared of her kidnappers.
It's very easy to sit there & judge her when you've never been in a situation like hers. Walk a mile in her shoes & then judge. Her kidnapper was right there with her-brandishing his knife & threatening to kill her-when she heard the searchers. She told her family after her rescue that she never felt that she had any opportunities to escape. She did try to escape once & her kidnapper caught her. & that Nancy Grace interview doesn't make Elizabeth look dumb, it makes Grace look dumb.

Mormons are unable to teach their children common sense. Especially the women...they have no idea how to stick up for themselves. They're all brainwashed. You don't need to be mormon to know these things. I've lived in Utah for several years. I know their system. You could kidnap as many Utah girls as you want and lock them up 18 miles away and they'd all be too stupid to escape and find their way home. Best of luck to the brainless mormon girls of America. Hope they learn to function as humans.
why would you ask something like that? Who knows what they did to her, I heard he wanted her to be his second wife, they are obviously crazy sick psychos that I hope will get life in prison. Some people just cant wrap their heads around that because its soo hard to fathom can anyone imagine being kidnapped how awful and scary that would be? She was soo brave and soo strong I couldnt imagine being with those people for 5 minutes how she was able to hold on is just a miracle.
She seems really cool. It's cool how she can talk about the whole thing but I can see in her eyes that she doesn't really want to be talking about it to the public. Nobody should have to go through that
Thanks. But still...cant you see in her eyes that it really hurts her? She's doing great on her own 2 feet and shes really beautifl. Somebody great like her shouldn'y have to go through that
I think she talks about it because she wants to help people who've been in similar circumstances. No one is making her talk about it as far as I know. I'm sure it's hard for her to talk about it but if she didn't want to I'm sure no one would make her.
I am not saying she was for sure pregnant, but im saying she could have been. And in the book Stolen Innocence, the girl had 4 misscarriages, and none required medical attention.
I apologize if this question angers anyone here, and I mean no disrespect to Elizabeth or her family.
However... what does everyone think about the speculation that Elizabeth was pregnant during her disappearance?
I didnt mean to and I deleted your comment. I often wonder that too sometimes, but I think they would have found that when they examined her at the hospital. I think its very possible she miscarried, but I dont think she actually had the baby.
Kell, Elizabeth was never pregnant. She was examined by doctors the day she was rescued & they determined that she had never been pregnant. There is no reason for anyone to lie about it or to hide it. This is not the 50s or 60s. This is the 21st century. No one in the USA hides teenage pregnancies anymore. Even if she was pregnant, it's not her fault, it's her kidnappers fault because he raped her. So no one would hide it anyway. Besides the FBI has no reason to cover up for a teenager.
The FBI has better things to do, like find & arrest terrorists. The Smarts would have had to bribe the FBI, the entire SLPD, every news outlet that investigated this kidnapping, & everyone at the local hospital in order to keep that quiet. In any case there's no need to hide any pregnancy, & certainly not by sending her away with 2 psychopaths who'd sexually abused kids in the past. There's such a thing as "abortion", or "send her to an aunt's house" or to a home for unwed mothers for a time.
Since Mitchell & Barzee have no medical training how would they have handled a miscarriage or any other medical problem? Their idea of medicine was to pray. Every place they stayed at was thoroughly searched by the cops & the FBI. Any evidence of a miscarriage would have been found & made public back in 2003, & a baby would have been found by now. All they'd have to do was find any newborns reported abandoned in 2002-2003 & test their DNA. Hospitals are required by law to report abandoned kids.
@kell7998 I think you could be right about that he raped her alot! Theres a film called stolen innocence we arent getting the full story as a minor they are protected.
This is sickening. This 14 yr old girl was 18 miles away from home, not even tied or locked up, she could hear people calling her name in the street, and she wasn't even smart enough to walk out the door and go home for 9 months. But a 5 year old black girl who escapes from being tied up and finds her way home, nobody knows about that, a REAL story of courage and wits for children to learn about, but nobody gives a fuck. Makes me fucking sick.
Everyone knows about Erica Pratt. She made headlines. Smart was tied to a tree with a wire cable in the hills behind her house while her kidnappers lived in a tent. Her kidnapper brandished a long sharp knife & threatened to kill her if she screamed. She & her kidnappers were in California from October 2002 to March 2003. & don't say no one cares about Erica. Erica was brave but she only escaped because her kidnappers were too stupid to watch her.
Lezfan2 you have no idea what happened to her or what she went through, she was 14 when this happened and you're judging her? Why are you judging a kidnap victim? She IS strong in that she is able to move on with her life, you can sit there and go "I would of run away from them" but you have NO idea what you would have done until you are in that situation!
What would you have done? It's really easy to say I would've done this or I would've done that. But you were never in her shoes. I'm happy that she's able to move on with her life. Maybe you should be happy for her too.

How is Elizabeth Smart 'saved'? She was in a cult, the LDS. Forcibly brought up to produce a Stepford Wife. A cult of submission. The only difference was she was physically not psychologically forced into a life of polygamy by a poor not middle-class couple. Still Mormons.
Elizabeth's father ain't nothing much either. He's paraded his (take your pick) raped/possible willing runaway/possibly once w/child daughter before the nation like a trophy or traveling freak show with a musical instrument.
What a beautiful family they are, I am so inspired by how graceful they all are♥ And is it just me who thinks Elizabeth looks like Elisha Cuthbert?!
And it's so great and true what she says in the end; they don't deserve a minute more of my life:)

Beautiful family? What for a bunch of fucking cultish Mormons maybe. The only difference here is she's living better than when she was kidnapped and isn't getting fucked every night. Weak-willed dumbass that she was.
No, what's pathetic is exploiting your raped daughter in front of the country.
What's pathetic is bringing her up in a cult so that she has no sense of independent thought and when some old creep fucks her she completely submits--for 9 months.
What's pathetic about trying to give other kidnapped victims and their families hope? Alot of people are wondering about her life now. She told them. So how are they pathetic?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
What kind of hope could SHE give anyone?
Here's how I completely and totally submitted myself to an old man and let him boink me every night for nine months and only tried to escape a couple of times?
It's pathetic that her father is a media-whore and parading his raped daughter around like a celeb.
It's pathetic that he raised someone so incapable of independent action and someone who submitted so willingly after a few boinks.
Again why do you guys look her up if you don't like her. They are trying to help other families who are going through what they went through. And how is Ed Smart a media whore when he's trying to have families have the happy ending he and his family had. Leave them alone. Or do you really have nothing better to do with your time then pick fights with people off youtube?
Oh I have criticism. I just don't have it on her because I feel bad for her and what she went through. And instead of being able to move on with her life people still call her a runaway and say she liked it there and why didn't she try to escape which I know she did. I read the book and seen her movie. I'm giving her a break. Do you think the same thing about that one boy who was held capitive for nine years or just Elizabeth?
Thank you! Some people on here have written some really mean things about that poor girl. It's nice to know other people on here agree with me. She hated it there.
She's not a hero. She is a survivor. She survivored nine months of hell. And I think if she didn't want to talk about it her father wouldn't make her.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I have to agree with Lezfan2 in that this girl is not a hero. She was indeed a victim, but not a hero. The poice were. And Nancy Grace was trying to help other families and victims by asking Elizabth those questions some years ago and Elizabeth snapped at her. So she has a bitchy side, why didn't she ever use such aggresion and boundaries with her captors? I mean no disrespect, these are just my observations.
Nancy Grace was not trying to help anyone or anything except her own ratings. How to see out of a burqa is a stupid question that's irrelevant to other kidnap victims & their families. Elizabeth didn't snap anyway. She shouldn't have had to tell Grace-twice-that she was there to endorse a sex offender registry bill, not to talk about her abduction. Especially since there's been a gag order on the Smart case since 2003. & the reason she didn't use aggression with her kidnappers is they were armed
obviously you'll never understand the strength of faith, Lezfan2, the strength of believing what happens to you, no matter how bad, is for a reason, something higher than yourself - I think Elisabeth Smart is amazing in the way she so gracefully handles the whole situation really.
I'm not a mormon, I still don't think they're drones cause of their faith - are they harming anyone? -don't think so. And does it really matter to you what I feel about this, why comment on it? go ahead, live ur life!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I think she was amazing in that she tried to escape maybe once then completely submitted to him for NINE MONTHS. Even when he was in jail a SIXTY year old woman could keep her in check.
Weak, weak, weak.
The only 'strength' was that of the deep fucking Mitchell was giving her and that of the Mormon cult that produces followers not independent thinkers.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And apparently you don't understand the strength of a good fucking given to a woman that makes her less willing to run off and more willing to give it up every night.
Especially if they are Mormon and brought up to submit to males.

@solheks " I'm not a mormon, I still don't think they're drones to their faith -are they harming anyone? -don't think so" OH REALLY ? & just what the Hell do you *THINK* precipitated this situation where a 14 year old so compliantly wandered off with someone who claimed to be a Latter day prophet? It certainly can't be worshipping MORmON founder Joe Smith who had several teen *wives*. Then there is Brenda Lafferty. WAKE UP! U R much more of MORmON than you might *THINK* DUMB ASS!!!!
@tonymobius Elizabeth had a knife to her throat & her kidnapper threatened to kill her if she screamed. That does not translate into "compliantly wandering off".
@tonymobius & FYI she was underage, so even if she had willingly gone with him it's still kidnapping & rape, regardless of what her religion teaches her. The age of consent in Utah is 16.
@tonymobius No her parents should NOT be charged with anything, because there was NO SCAM! Elizabeth did NOT run away. This was a real kidnapping. There is an abundance of proof to show that she was kidnapped & virtually none to support anything else. & the FBI & the SLPD still say this was a kidnapping & they investigated it, you didn't. If she had run away they would have found out & charged her back in 2003. They have no reason not to. FYI one of the kidnappers recently pled guilty.
@tonymobius The idea that any teen would perpetuate any scam for 8 years is beyond stupid. & the idea that her parents would do it is also beyond stupid. Do you think the SLPD & the FBI, every news outlet that reported on this case, every witness for the prosecution & the defense & every family member of the accused are also accessories? After all, they ALL have said that Mitchell & Barzee are abusive psychos & that they are perfectly capable of committing kidnapping & rape.
@tonymobius Wanda Barzee pled guilty to kidnapping & is currently serving a 15 year sentence. There was a witness to the kidnapping. It was proven that Mitchell has been faking his "incompetency" for 7 years, which he would never have done if he was innocent. If Mitchell pleads guilty, will you finally get it thru your head that Elizabeth Smart is a legitamit kidnap victim? Or will you still believe the stupid tabloids? Do you believe that Jaycee Lee Dugard & Shawn Hornbeck both ran away?
@tonymobius & no loving parent would ever in a million years let their young daughter run away & especially not with a 49 year old homeless guy or any other guy for that matter. You're an idiot if you think the Smarts planned this. No one would be stupid enough to risk jail by doing that. Look at all the publicity that surrounded this kidnapping case. If the parents had planned a scam do you think they'd still be in the public eye? Heck the kidnappers would have ratted them out long before now.

Are you out of your mind? A strong woman? She folded up completely to Mitchell to the point of becoming what appears to be a willing follower.
Hell a 7 year old escaped her captors in 24 hours and this nitwit couldn't find a way out in 9 months, including denying it when she was first 'caught' by cops?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wouldnt it be crazy if its revealed that the whole thing was one big elaborate hoax? I heard the story she stayed with her captors never ran away & denied it was her to various people that asked its like come on now kinda makes you wonder ha?
No it doesn't not if you've heard of Stockholm Syndrome & know what a psychological leash is.The cops & the FBI found proof that she was kidnapped & held against her will.Besides if it was a hoax the police & the FBI would have found out back in 2002 & either Ed Smart or Elizabeth would have been brought up on charges LONG before now.
I doubt that any book written by the SLPD would make them look good. They screwed up & made themselves look totally incompetent in the Elizabeth Smart case.
I seriously doubt that the FBI are interested in a book deal. They deal with kidnappings a lot.Elizabeth Smart was just another one as far as they were concerned. They have more important things to do,like find & arrest terrorists.
Why who would say what outerlimits78?The FBI didn't say anything.I said it.But why WOULD the FBI want to write a book about the Elizabeth Smart case? You don't think they have better things to do?They're a NATIONAL organization. They deal with stuff from all over the USA.& no book can make the SLPD look good. They did make themselves look incompetent in the Smart case.
You mean the fact that the SLCPD found proof that Elizabeth was kidnapped? Why would they say that if it wasn't true?Just because they didn't show the proof to the world on tv doesn't mean the proof doesn't exist. There is a gag order on this case & this case has not gone to trial yet.Besides they're still saying it now. What reason would they have to mislead the public for 5 years?

And her exploitative father who pimps her out to the camera. He's judged as well.
Lezfan2 3 years ago
She's not a hero. She is a survivor. She survivored nine months of hell. And I think if she didn't want to talk about it her father wouldn't make her.

I mean no disrespect, these are just my observations.
nonbreeder 2 years ago
Nancy Grace was not trying to help anyone or anything except her own ratings. How to see out of a burqa is a stupid question that's irrelevant to other kidnap victims & their families. Elizabeth didn't snap anyway. She shouldn't have had to tell Grace-twice-that she was there to endorse a sex offender registry bill, not to talk about her abduction. Especially since there's been a gag order on the Smart case since 2003. & the reason she didn't use aggression with her kidnappers is they were armed

How is a Mormon drone inspiring?
Is staying submissive for 9 months inspire you?
Is being weak inspiring to you?
Lezfan2 3 years ago
obviously you'll never understand the strength of faith, Lezfan2, the strength of believing what happens to you, no matter how bad, is for a reason, something higher than yourself - I think Elisabeth Smart is amazing in the way she so gracefully handles the whole situation really.
I'm not a mormon, I still don't think they're drones cause of their faith - are they harming anyone? -don't think so. And does it really matter to you what I feel about this, why comment on it? go ahead, live ur life!

And apparently you don't understand the strength of a good fucking given to a woman that makes her less willing to run off and more willing to give it up every night.
Especially if they are Mormon and brought up to submit to males.

can you say sexist?

As a Mormon teenage female, I strongly resent that remark.

WAKE UP! U R much more of MORmON than you might *THINK* DUMB ASS!!!!
tonymobius 1 year ago
@tonymobius Elizabeth had a knife to her throat & her kidnapper threatened to kill her if she screamed. That does not translate into "compliantly wandering off".
Lizfan2 1 year ago
@tonymobius & FYI she was underage, so even if she had willingly gone with him it's still kidnapping & rape, regardless of what her religion teaches her. The age of consent in Utah is 16.

@Lizfan2 Exactly, and thats why her MORmON parents should be charged as accessories to her runaway scam!
tonymobius 1 year ago
@tonymobius No her parents should NOT be charged with anything, because there was NO SCAM! Elizabeth did NOT run away. This was a real kidnapping. There is an abundance of proof to show that she was kidnapped & virtually none to support anything else. & the FBI & the SLPD still say this was a kidnapping & they investigated it, you didn't. If she had run away they would have found out & charged her back in 2003. They have no reason not to. FYI one of the kidnappers recently pled guilty.
Lizfan2 1 year ago
@tonymobius The idea that any teen would perpetuate any scam for 8 years is beyond stupid. & the idea that her parents would do it is also beyond stupid. Do you think the SLPD & the FBI, every news outlet that reported on this case, every witness for the prosecution & the defense & every family member of the accused are also accessories? After all, they ALL have said that Mitchell & Barzee are abusive psychos & that they are perfectly capable of committing kidnapping & rape.
Lizfan2 1 year ago
@tonymobius Wanda Barzee pled guilty to kidnapping & is currently serving a 15 year sentence. There was a witness to the kidnapping. It was proven that Mitchell has been faking his "incompetency" for 7 years, which he would never have done if he was innocent. If Mitchell pleads guilty, will you finally get it thru your head that Elizabeth Smart is a legitamit kidnap victim? Or will you still believe the stupid tabloids? Do you believe that Jaycee Lee Dugard & Shawn Hornbeck both ran away?
Lizfan2 1 year ago
@tonymobius & no loving parent would ever in a million years let their young daughter run away & especially not with a 49 year old homeless guy or any other guy for that matter. You're an idiot if you think the Smarts planned this. No one would be stupid enough to risk jail by doing that. Look at all the publicity that surrounded this kidnapping case. If the parents had planned a scam do you think they'd still be in the public eye? Heck the kidnappers would have ratted them out long before now.

Was Elisha Cuthbert boinked for nine months at the age of 14 by a fifty year old?

Are you out of your mind? A strong woman? She folded up completely to Mitchell to the point of becoming what appears to be a willing follower.
Hell a 7 year old escaped her captors in 24 hours and this nitwit couldn't find a way out in 9 months, including denying it when she was first 'caught' by cops?
That's some weird-ass 'strong'.

It's amazing that Elizabeth was able to forgive her kidnappers. I would never have been able to do that if it had been me.

wouldnt it be crazy if its revealed that the whole thing was one big elaborate hoax? I heard the story she stayed with her captors never ran away & denied it was her to various people that asked its like come on now kinda makes you wonder ha?
napalmdeatho1 3 years ago

Lizfan2 3 years ago
don't believe everything you hear. there are tons of other reasons why they would say that.
outerlimits78 3 years ago
Why who would say what outerlimits78?The FBI didn't say anything.I said it.But why WOULD the FBI want to write a book about the Elizabeth Smart case? You don't think they have better things to do?They're a NATIONAL organization. They deal with stuff from all over the USA.& no book can make the SLPD look good. They did make themselves look incompetent in the Smart case.

i'm commenting on your original thread. dunno what book you are referring to.
outerlimits78 3 years ago
You mean the fact that the SLCPD found proof that Elizabeth was kidnapped? Why would they say that if it wasn't true?Just because they didn't show the proof to the world on tv doesn't mean the proof doesn't exist. There is a gag order on this case & this case has not gone to trial yet.Besides they're still saying it now. What reason would they have to mislead the public for 5 years?

Mitchell gave her her first sexual pleasure, over and over and over again for months on end so of course she forgives him.
The first few boinks were rape and criminal. After that though she stopped trying to escape.
Says something about the pleasure she was learning to receive, associate with sex and finally perhaps accept (or crave)?
