  • İyi ki varsın Fazıl Say....

  • delli la bu hahahah

  • Guys, seriously, how can you dislike this video!

    Fazil Say, you are amazing!

  • sorry I copuld not puyt in the link I meant Rondo Alla Turca (try it with Horowitz and Gould, please)

  • Let’s take a look at this Mozart Rondo, at the whole Sonata it belongs too, the shift of tonalities, the unpredictable

listne to this that's so subtle, so delicate, brave and funny and even at a moment desperately sad as alway with Mozartat the same time! That's a human! That's living!

I spoke about Mozart because it's easier to see it in how straightly he perverts Mozart piece he distorts Beethoven's. No space here to analyse it.

  • Dear binboga, I just got your point on Ciltures, it has nothing to do with the fact that Fazil comes from Turkey to me, I meant only cultural language of the piece of art, I know wonderful chinese musicianas performoing European music.

  • and beethoven is andrew lloyd weber

  • love this kind of guy...crazy, incredible, great, powerful, passionate!!! just one life!! Fazil say forever and ever....

  • This is terrible... it is worse than Elton John could do it (thanks to him he does not try)... this is a trick show over one of the greatest pieces of European culture, there's a life living in this music not fooling around... Just terrible and even more terrible that there are so many admirers of that faker.

  • @MrJonahWhaler

Can you elaborate on it further? What is the trick and what is the European culture?

  • Dear @binboga, By culture I mean a certain unity of notions about Human Being - the pillar of the European culture is Christian it It is not the matter of religion, church, but culture, mind, myth, idiomas of our everyday life e.g. I am not Christian by confession but I belong to European culture)

By trick I mean all he plays sums up in this video it say 'Mozart is the same thing as Ragtime".

    But it's not!

Mozart is life itself, its the origin and the core of life, drama of characters.

  • @MrJonahWhaler

Cultural heritage is universal. When you define it geographically or ethnically it leads us something like Nazis see the culture. I recommend you a library search on this issue. You can start looking at the site of UNESCO first.

When it comes to trick. It is an overstatement I think. You mean his interpretation. You cannot blame an artist for his interpretation. At the very most, you may like it or not.

  • @binboga It is noy the point of Nationality (I wrote below) heritage is universal, but cultre itslef can be in a family, in a city, in a country, even in a company (corporate culture), unversal is nothing, to understand universal we should understand personality, to love and understand another one we should understand not the common but the different traces in him. To understand Bach or Botticelli deeply you should know Christian mythology.

Why can't I say that I think that he plays it wrong?

  • @ProkofievRules you know nothing about music get a life and try listening.

    THIS IS CLASS

  • FAZIL SAY BİR DAHİDİR VE TÜRKİYEMİZİN GURURUDUR. ALLAH BAŞIMIZDAN EKSİK ETMESİN. İŞTE İMPARATOR TORUNLARI NEKADAR ÖVÜNSEK AZDIR.

  • Say probably doesn't smell as bad as LvB, what a wiffy man !!!

  • Superb! The difference between Fazil and the others is that they look at their sheets, and he even does not look at the keys.

  • Terrible. I cannot watch Fazil play. With the faces. Just terrible.

  • @ProkofievRules He might be ugly but there is nothing fake in his emotion. He isn't making those faces to pretend that he's in the music. You should revel and live vicariously through this.

  • @ProkofievRules He isn't making those faces to pretend he likes the music and to entertain the crowd. It's genuine emotion and he might be ugly but it's real. If I could play with an orchestra I'm sure I'd look even uglier. You should be reveling in this.

  • @SteveKane33399

Give me a break. What does it add to the music? Nothing. The music is what's important, and Fazil just doesn't get that. Watch his Ravel sonatine performance. Disgusting with all the hand motions.

Do you know what I revel in? Serious artistry. Give me Schnabel or Arrau playing only one piece, and I'd be happier than if I had access to all of Fazil's recordings.

  • @ProkofievRules

I'm not a big fan of watching expressions of musicians so I know what you mean, but then again it's all about the music right? You may think those movements add nothing to the music, but it does to them. If you understood the joy of playing music yourself, you'd be able to atleast imagine that. I think music is ultimately about emotional connection and imagination, so it'd be nice to see music enthuasiasts demonstrate sensitivity&acceptance rather than leaving nasty comments.

  • @Snufkin999

Hahaha are you kidding? Who listens to Beethoven Piano Concerti anymore without understanding the joy of playing? I play piano. I understand the joy of it. It also allows me to tell the difference between fakery and genuine emotional connection to a piece. It allows me to tell the difference between real artistry, and whatever you would call this. But it isn't artistry.

  • he is making love with the piano.

  • Fazıl SAY is a legend alive

  • WOW!!!!! Excellent performance!!! And that cadenza... Did Fazil composed it? Does anybody knows where can I get the score?

  • WOW!!!!!!! Excellent performance! And that cadenza!!!... Did Fazil composed it?

  • This man is such a musician. Its as though hes talking the music out of the piano, coaxing it as it were. I love watching him play. Bravo!

  • Yeah, he's good and all that, but what the heck is the deal with all the new themes in the cadenza? It seemed like he could have stuck a little closer to the original material.

  • @AnAdmiringBog it's called interpretation I imagine, it's a free world hey.

  • Gururumussun Fazil bey sizi elestirenler cevap su kadar soyluyorum onlar human waste ; kendini asamamis zavallilar insan diye bir varligi irklara bolenler halbuku hepside bu dunyanin urunleri nedir bu dusmanlik anlamadim ...Hepside ayri ayri dil konusabilir ama sonunda damardaki kan guruplari hep ayni...

  • must say he s great really, totally perfect ,but I m not saying that because he s soo fast or what makes you impress easily etc ,,no,I like to speak honestly ,so weird that thing is ;he almost makes me believe this s not beethoven comp.as like Say composed that I thought and about feelings.also we see he never hesitates during music plus he lives w this, his earing could be perfect pitch must be.he s like a gift from god must say and I really wanna see when he plays W. Lutosławski Piano Concerto.

  • He is definately one of the best pianists I have ever listened to, although I am a little confused at his facial expression

  • Does anyone know about the Cadenza? Did he compose it? It is beautiful, I saw him in 2010 in Mexico playing this wonderful Beethoven's Third Concerto and he played the same Cadenza. Wonderful experience.

  • This guy's facial expression is like he's having an orgasm.

  • fazıla saygım sonsuz ama bu parça hoşuma gitmedi:/

  • His cadenza is gorgeous. He is a very brilliant pianist, I was lucky to see him in Mexico city last october or november 2010 playing this same concerto, maybe my favorite of Beethoven's piano concertos. It was such an experience to see him live.

  • That cadenza is hilarious! He busts into the Moonlight Sonata!!!

  • Bravo Fazil - have not seen you in years. Best wishes.

  • gururumuz !

  • He is a very big musician. But the Party of Turkey AKP, which is Islamic origin, had an discussion with him. Cause he just say that i dont like the idea and belief of this government. Most of the AKP's ministers said that if u dont like just leave the country. The AKP's mentality is just that. I think most of the country is already wants such an master musician to be their citizen.

  • ahhh 7:38 <3 <3 most beautiful melody! where can i find this cadenza? i would love to use it for my competition!

  • I love Fazil Say... Sweet piano man.

  • respect

  • WOW!!! His own cadenza....very cool. Damn the purists! It's only since Beethoven that pianists are no longer EXPECTED to improvise and create their own cadenzas. I think Ludwig would get a kick out of it!

  • @35Cesur

İşte bir kökten dinci geçinen gavur daha. Sizin gibi zihniyet değil midir 13 yaşındaki kızları analarının kucağından alıp dini nikah adı altında ırzına geçen. Sizin hocalarınız böyle dinci işte. Koşun sizde sapık supuğun peşinden. Hz.

  • LOL HIS CADENZAS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @lacheeky123 what about them? they are spectacular - i must say i prefer them over rubinstein's

  • How can WARS exist .... when human beings are able to do this??

    STOP ALL WARS

    LISTEN TO MUSIC!!!!!

  • he is best...

  • sizin aydın anlayışınıza ..

  • @nihatbesiktas1903 sen yürü çarşılılarla döner bıçağı kalkan folklör ekibine katıl

  • öyle herkesin sanatçı olamayacağının kanıtı, her yönüyle tam anlamıyla sanatçı ve aydın keşke senin gibilerin olmasını beklemek yerine bizde senin gibi olabilsek ...

  • @JakinXXX you just keep shitting, while the rest keeps enjoying him.

  • I AM SO MUCH PROUD OF HIM AND HIS EACH FINGER! IT IS LIKE A TEAM OF 10 BROTHERS! HE IS MORE THAN AMAZING!!! AND THANKS TO HIS WAR ON ARABESQUE MUSIC! WE DO NOT NEED THAT NEW BORN (NEREDEN GELDIGI BELIRSIZ) MUSIC AND RAZORS :-) KEEP GOING SAY!

  • wow what a man !!!

  • i must say, fazil say's cadenza is most inovative from all the interpratations of this compsition iv seen

  • i love the cadenza. very creative.

  • great pianist, i love his virtuosity

  • @ anfarahat: I agree that this cadenza sounds odd in a classical context; still, I think it is a delightful composition. The cadenza used to be "off the score", a chance for soloists to show their inventiveness. By respecting the composer¡s spirit, Mr Say crossed borders but not limits, so I say: Say, thank you for this expressive innovation!

  • obuacı bayan çok tatlıymış bu arada...

  • this is love

  • I think it was not a human but a piano that gave birth to him.

  • sorry people, but i have to say this beethoven is a bit choppy for my taste...he is a jazz musician after all

try listening to jacob lateiner play emperor, for example :) or even seymour lipkin and the rest of that generation

if you think i'm wrong, think again

    (i am David Dubal's assistant)

  • @balikadam35 being David Dubal's assitant does not make you a classical expert. Also, while he does play *some* jazz, he is not a jazz player. I do agree, however, that it is a bit choppy. Just try not sound so pretentious about your opinions next time...

  • amazing piano skills

  • He's the proud Turk.

  • hi is the best pianist to my mind

  • not,,, mitsuko uchida is the best

  • I know this will sound off the wall, but Fazil Say's mannerisms remind me of........Keith Moon! (Late drummer for rock band The Who )

  • Stunning! Such an expressive and passionate pianist!

  • If Beethoven was alive, HE deserves to be worshipped, NOT GOD>

what the hell. if i lived and died 100 times i won't be able to make music that beautiful. this concerto absolutely captures me.

  • @farah73: lol... just imagine what Beethoven would have composed if he had lived and died 100 times...

  • @Schamschi

i don't want to even imagine that. i'd shoot myself in the head right now :)

  • he is playing the piano with his face , fingers are just tools

  • this is one of the best things I heard here on Youtube..it is my oppinion, I think this guy is awesome...the emotions when he plays..my head bobs with his playing :P

  • turklerin piyano yorumu: piyanonun a... koymus. haha. bizim millet bir alem

  • It is the prerogative of the soloist, that he/she can play his/her own cadenza, - and we don´t mind if the soloist is as gifted as this one.

  • Hey, I'm having trouble understanding how Fazil Say had the stones to change Beethoven's music. I love his playing by the way I'm not trying to be insulting. I just don't get it...

  • ooo wow men FANTASTIC

  • He quoted Beethoven in his cadenza, but he also said something Beethoven wouldn't have said. Most pianists wouldn't dare open their mouths at all. Being so much at one with the piano is something us lesser mortals can only dream of.

  • In moments of crazyness it seems that I can explain the world! Every brave artist who cross the small line between this world and a world full of colourfull signs of art, is a genious! Which means you need to be out of control to seperate your body from your soul, to make music, paintings, books etc like this!Love him! Tebrikler Fazil dostum! Her sabah dinlerim ilk kahvemi icerken!

  • breath-taking!

  • Ata'
